YouFoundTheCash.com To whomever controls the domain name: I'd like to offer my services to build a simple database of dollar bill serial numbers. That way, people who see "YouFoundTheCash.com" on their dollar bills can actually track the location of the bills, and "get something" for going to the website. I can put something together that will work, (php/mysql) but I need some cooperation from the anon that owns/controls the domain name. Either to set up hosting elsewhere, or to get access or sources uploaded to the site files at dreamhost.
Re: YouFoundTheCash.com Oh, good. I've been putting antiscilon messages on my monies for a while now anyway.
Re: YouFoundTheCash.com I like this! I marked a bill and spent it...and another Anon received it as change from a restaurant I never go to. I'd love to see where the other bills end up.
Re: YouFoundTheCash.com We already worked that out and it turns out that it's ok. There are links around here about it but I can't be assed to find them.
Re: YouFoundTheCash.com The law in Canada is worded so that defacing currency with the intent to stop it from being usable is illegal. So if you intend to keep circulating your currency, it's a loophole.
Re: YouFoundTheCash.com I think this would be really cool, very enlightening and a lot of fun! I too, am encouraging this!
Re: YouFoundTheCash.com Exactly that, but with a strong "YouFoundTheCard" influence. I've written it and sent a copy off to the owner of the domain, hopefully we'll see this set up soon!
Re: YouFoundTheCash.com Great idea, will this work for foreign currency as well? I wanna know, since I have been putting this on Danish bills for a while
Re: YouFoundTheCash.com Anybody here knows TakeAnonProxy and can poke him/her with a stick? Patience has never been one of my virtues...
Re: YouFoundTheCash.com The stuff as written now works on the serial number, but what that serial number actually represents is open. I figure it's highly unlikely to have two different serial numbers for two completely different bills, since these numbers are usually alphanumeric and pretty huge.
Re: YouFoundTheCash.com BTW, if any anon wants to do their own thing, the sources as written are freely available, in the public domain. It's free for whatever use you want to put it, and the look/feel is split into three distinct files that are easily modified. YouFoundTheCash.tgz It might be fun to pass the serial number fields to other sites and create a P2P network of "YouFoundThe..." sites, so that a number of domains and causes can be supported? (just a thought) In any event, go for it, and have fun!
Re: YouFoundTheCash.com Only if you are trying to destroy it or vandalize it to the point that it can no longer be used as currency. It is legal to write small messages on currency.
