Yearly Update on New Village Leadership Academy

In 2006 Celebrity Center International sent two of its staff to the DC Org to extract an African American auditor who was on staff there. He was to be the Smith's full time personal traveling auditor. Apparently the Smith's only wanted an African American auditor and this DC staff member was the only African American auditor who was also a Flag trained "Golden Age of Tech" auditor. The CC staff were to recruit several replacement auditors. My wife was on the list of possible candidates so we were both briefed. My wife declined the offer.

One thing that hasn't surfaced much is who is his publicist. From one recent article that I recall, it's Pat Kingsley, Tom Cruise's former publicist.

There's someone who knows a lot about how to hide the Scientology craziness and what damage it does when it starts flashing in public.

once again, thank you TC for turning 4 more people's heads to mush.
How many does that make for you Tom?
Not counting the countless others who joined because of your (bygone) celebrity status.
And others that got into it from the NY Firefighters detox bullshit.
Hubbard knew what he was doing with recruiting celebutards.
Name one other "church" that does this.

and I would love to know WHY the Smiths kept this under wraps from the public and denied being Scientologists? (well we all knew, but it was never really confirmed by someone who saw it first hand)
I would love to hear the reason from the Smith's own mouths. And something besides what we believe in is nobody's biz. Which is essentially true. But they were disseminating Scientology tech to children AND some of the parents.
You would think if they thought the tech was SO great that they would be proud to call themselves Scientologists.
They opened up a friggin' school for God's sakes.
    But no.
And as was mentioned in the article about Will being warned about the COS getting in the way of his career....
They will soon realize (MAYBE) that Scientology is a career ender for him and his kids.
    Enjoy the fail tech pushers

In those instances, I hold the parents responsible. Dr. Olivier did state that some parents pulled their kids out due to the Scientology factor. That seems further supported by the fact that they couldn't keep afloat after they fired Dr. Olivier and the legit teachers left followed by the act of hemorrhaging cash for a large settlement to hide their heinous act of firing her for being resistant to the Scientology educational program.

So I think the bigger issue here is that the Smiths need called out on, and shamed over, is where Dr. Olivier states that their own kids weren't even doing the school's Scientology-lite program. They were off doing their cult training, no doubt at a far more advanced level than the school's student body was doing.

Dear Jada and Will: WTF is wrong you?!?! WHY ARE YOU DEPRIVING YOUR KIDS OF A PROPER EDUCATION?

well of course the parents are responsible, but they were duped by Smith. If it wasn't for the Smith's they probably would have never done it in the first place.

Sorry RO but I but don't quite see it that way after reading about how the school evolved from a house setup for delivering their homeschooling program...

    From: http://tonyortega.org/2013/11/18/ex...ill-jada-smiths-shuttered-scientology-school/
    And then this...
It seems to me that the parents that did not pull their kids out after the first or second year, wanted their kids to have a Scientology-based education. And the fact that they were reg'ing parents to do courses means the school was being operated more like Scientology mission than a school. Erego, at least some of the parents that lasted to the end became Scientologists themselves once they started taking course. We see that same sort of thing with the job ads on the Razzline where WISE companies are seemingly turning into the new Scientology mission network with more emphasis on doing auditing services and aggressively selling courses.

And for the parents that did stick it out and just got duped - I hope you sue them into oblivion, without signing a gag order. And may their lawsuits reap great rewards!

Back on pages 1 & 2 ITT "Former Parent" and "Another Former Parent" piped up with a comment at the time it was first revealed the school was shutting down that some parents were looking into legal action. If that interest stalled out, I'm hoping Dr. Olivier speaking out gives it more traction.

They appear to have done a pretty good job of stopping any increase in light that this story initially caused.
  19. JohnnyRUClear Member

You mean they are suppressing this story? What does that say about them?

Surprisingly good. It indicates they have thrown a good deal of money after this, which again indicate this is of major concern to them. Needs moar publicity methinks.

Exclusive: Will Smith’s Private School, Now Closed, Was $307K in the Red

Exclusive: According to its federal non profit tax filing for 2012, Will Smith’s private school had to closen down last June. New Village Academy, which taught Scientology curriculum and was run by a Scientologist, finished 2012 some $307,000 in the red.

New Village Leadership Academy was started by “After Earth” star Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith in 2008 in Calabasas, California. The school met with immediate criticism as it featured Scientology curriculum. Within a year the headmaster was fired when she wouldn’t go along with the Smiths’ plans. A new headmistress, Franca Campopiano, a Scientologist replaced her.

The school closed abruptly last July. This column spoke to one of the parents, producer Jeff Wald, a few months ago. More recently, the original headmaster gave an interview to Tony Ortega confirming the Scientology connection. One parent, entertainment lawyer Ken Hertz, who was on the board with his wife, refused to return calls.

According to the new filing, Campopiano was making $225,872 a year. Other salaries at the small private school came to $1,276.161.

The school seems like it was top heavy in debt. Total expenses in 2012 were $2, 951,570 under $3 million. Revenue was $2, 929,355– and that included $740,00 from tuition. The gap was just too wide for the Smiths–who’d already donated around $1.5 million– to make up.

Not only that: the school listed under Liabilities loans to staff, directors, trustees former and current of $1.235 million.

The school claimed net assets of (-) $307,146.

Clearly they were not teaching higher math at New Village.

The trolling that this thread received encouraged me to comb through my FrontCite backlog and process most of the Will & Jada Smith school stories. Enjoy your Google Magnet Streisand Effect with RDFa lite cream.

This "loans to staff, directors, trustees" scam shows up all over narCONon's IRS Form 99o's too. Seems to be a pattern where $cientology related entities are concerned.

    I found these NVLA 990s at Guidestar. They are for 2010, 2011, & 2012.

They are not machine readable PDFs but they may provide interesting and possibly useful information based on 368's post #222, above.

So Kirsty has been called 'a bag of hair', now Jada has been (aptly) called a 'bag of antlers'. I wonder what's in the other scientology star's 'bags'?
