Re: xenu.jp:反応 Well, foreigners are not allowed to protest, and protesting isn't very common in Japan, but they're not banned completely. While we do have anons who are Japanese, many of the anons in Japan so far have been foreigners, so there haven't been any proper protests - only some balls of steel and some flier handouts.

But if you do, the police will quickly turn up, question everybody, copy your foreign registration cards (or passport pages, or other form of ID), and then tell you to go home. You can try to call them on it and claim you have a right to protest, in which case you'll probably get dragged down to the station, and on the way they'll find something to charge you with. The police tend to play fast and loose with the law here. I believe there is a legal way to register for a protest, but it's mired not only in red tape, but red tape in a foreign language that's rendered extra-super incomprehensible even to native Japanese speakers by being written in such formal legalese that it's nearly impossible to figure out without a lawyer on hand.

The thread title is "Have you had any experience with Scientology?" Almost immediately, Japanese ex-Scilons started posted warnings, anecdotes, or horror stories. One of the stories was about Nick, a non-Japanese member of staff who was a Slappy Miscavige wannabe and an "enemy of women". After that, people in the thread started calling him "暴力ニック" (bouryoku nikku, or "Violence Nick") and a meme was born. I fucking loved this thread when it was active. Scilon spokesdrones came in and tried to talk positive about Scientology with these massive tl;dr posts, only to get mercilessly bitchslapped by everybody else in the thread.
