Leah Remini is giving away 1,600 pairs of socks, and she asks that if you win a pair, you Tweet a picture of yourself wearing them.

She didn't mention Guy Fawkes masks, but I think it would be a nice touch.

With 1,600 prizes, there's a good chance that somebody from here could snag a pair.

    Giveaway expires June 28, 2015

One thing we can always use around here is more socks.

Do you have to be an elf to win?

I demand to see a pic of Johnny in GF mask and naked except for a sock covering the vital bits.

Sorry, Malory. There's no sock big enough to cover my tummy.

    Can't enter... don't have cable.
  8. GibbousWaxing Member

First on the list of "cable providers" to choose from is Amazon. So I picked it. I guess I could have scrolled down six lines and picked YouTube, but I'm lazy like that.

    Amazon has a cable service?
  10. GibbousWaxing Member

No. Amazon has a video service. The sponsors of this giveaway don't really care if you have cable. They really only care if you have some way of watching TV shows, and they want to make you think about watching theirs. They're using the word "cable" to subsume some other ways of receiving video content. Call it a form of synechdoche, if you want to. Or call it stupid, or whatever.

Point is, you can enter. Whether you choose to or not is up to you.

Synecdoche... wow. There's another thing I never realized had its own name.
  12. GibbousWaxing Member

Yeah, it's not a word I use often, as evidenced by my misspelling.

    Typically, I resort to "metonymy."

It's easier to spell but it's got those tricky "y" thingys.

"me + Tony + my"... should be a snap to remember, provided there's someone named "Tony" whose bones you want to jump.
