I see no reasons why should we limit freedom of expression even if we do not agree with what was said, expressed or shown. Just don't look, listen, follow or download. As simple as that. The garbage that appears on internet is just like or Congress members - should we get rid of them or learn whom not to choose next election.
Freedom of expression, communication and ideas may not have any borders.
    Stay safe and free

    Dear OP:

Now please GDIAF for putting up a faggotbook link to a faggot cause on here.

In case you haven't noticed (or too retarded, or both): Facebook is the very definition of complete fail when it comes to private information and security. You might as well make a webpage that says "Please spam me into oblivion with whatever your sick mind comes up with! Here is my personal info! Take my identity! I never liked having a good credit score anyways and always wanted to help some Nigerian/Indian/ShitholeCountryHere with all the money I have! Give me links to fraudulent porn sites that only take my money and show me nothing!"

Nothing is without cost. When you say you want something free you are really saying you want other people to pay your way.

Why did you feel the need to necromancy this thread?

Now excuse me while I beat myself down for falling for this trap...

Fallacy of equivocation. OP used 'free' to mean 'without restriction' rather than 'at no cost'.

Where do you get off giving anybody hints about activism? How many years of your life have you wasted on Scientology now Barb? Or how about that time you killed the San Diego Chanology cell with your cancerous ways? Remember that?

Point taken. I do not have a Facebook account.

Government likes to regulate because it leads to taxes and power. It is not so much 'we are the government and we are here to help you'. "The more numerous the laws the more corrupt the government." (Tacicus-100 AD I think)

To have a facebook account isn't the same as agree with it's concept. but it's a tool to stay updated.

So using a site that sells your personal information to... well just about anybody with the money... is a tool? A site that a cat could easily defeat it's piss poor security and give said personal data to some Nigerian...Jawa or some dubious company in some shit hole country in order to spam you with all sorts of bullshit?

    ...Yeah... Some "tool" there...

As for the message: It is not the message everybody is saying GTFO with, it is the "tool" (Facebook) that everybody is ridiculing.

Right, because people haven't used Facebook with great success to raise awareness and mobilize people to participate in activist causes. You can ridicule Facebook all you want but guess what, it has vastly more reach than your little IRC channels or bulletin boards ever had. Laugh all you want as you get left behind. I still love you though bb.

    You just blew my mind:confused:
  24. Paroxetine Samurai Moderator

Without wishing to argue with you, because lets face it: You are absolutely correct in what you are saying. There isn't any debate about how FB can mobilize people and get people involved in activists movements far better than IRC or BBS.

That is not the issue. The issue I am trying to address here is Facebook's lackluster security and privacy.

Without throwing up a wall o' words here: Facebook isn't secure and does track users a lot more than IRCs and BBS. Granted neither IRC or BBS are secure, but FB is more intrusive than those two. Here is a link to the Wikipedia wall o' words about FB and Privacy to anybody who wants to look at that TL;DR wall o' words. (The TL;DR: Facebook isn't as secure as you like to think.)

Maybe I am dead wrong and I'll admit it if I am. However, I just am not going to go blindly onto a FB site for any reason unless I trust the source. I don't trust FB's privacy, but I don't distrust it enough to go "ZOMG! Tinfoil hat tiem nao!" because that is just dumb on any scale.

It's a tool, alright... a tool to pry personal information out of people.

  27. Pry? Really?

"Oh my god you should see the new 260 inch high def tv I've just had delivered, hooked up the ps3 and Xbox and my 10k surround sound system to it, it's awesome!!!! Shame I'm going on holiday for 6 weeks and won't get to use it"
"Burglar alarm constantly going off, can't get repair man round till after holiday, bummer, will have to shut down alarm until then"
"At airport and have that feeling I left the back door unlocked, see you all soon, can't wait to tell you about the trip when I return"

Stupid people given a tool to be even more stupid
