Re: Verdict: GUILTY! French trial verdicts are in Scientology convicted of Fraud in France - the shot heard around the world!
Re: Verdict: GUILTY! French trial verdicts are in So, I'm wondering when more disgruntled ex-members are going to sue the cult for fraud after hearing about this. I mean, we all know those handful of Frenchies are by no means an exception. Imagine if the THOUSANDS of people with similar cases went to court. That would be the end of it right then and there - and quite full of irony and poetic justice. Also, how the fuck do the $cilons want to go to the European court for Human Rights or whatever? This trial was about FRAUD, and nothing else.
Re: Verdict: GUILTY! French trial verdicts are in because they have been brainwashed into thinking if you say anything negative about them, its religious persuction, ergo, you get busted for fraud, its because they are bigots.
Re: Verdict: GUILTY! French trial verdicts are in The news hit Brazil : Ramificação da Cientologia na França é condenada por fraude And Amazonia Florest Tribunal francês multa Igreja da Cientologia em R$ 1,5 milhão por fraude - O Globo
Re: Verdict: GUILTY! French trial verdicts are in The European Court of Human Rights is actually superior to the courts of many European countries. It is written into the Norwegian constitution for example. Soverignity? BAH! Scientology seems to think - rightly or wrongly - that they have some influence on that court. It might just be wishful thinking by Scientology. Russia lost twice against Scientology in that court, but while the PR line from Scientology is that the court recognized it as a religion, that wasn't really what it did. Russia already treats Scientology as a religion, you see, but then decided to discriminate against "foreign religions". That is why Scientology won against Russia. All Russia has to do is attack the fraudulent and quack activities of Scientology, and the European human rights court will probably side with Russia in that case. (Only probably though, because shit happnes.)
Re: Verdict: GUILTY! French trial verdicts are in Yeah, but the European Court for Human Rights hasn't been brainwashed, so they obviously aren't the right place to go to appeal a FRAUD case, is what I'm saying. They probably won't even accept it. $cilons are just playing the "Religious Persecution Bawwww"-card.
Re: Verdict: GUILTY! French trial verdicts are in Fraud Conviction II in France is a nice addition to Mr. Hubbard's 1978 conviction in absentia in France for fraud. Hubbard was sentenced to four years in prison and fined the equivalent of $35,000. The internet news outlets are now revisiting this story: http://meowmacao.blogspot.com/2009/05/scientologys-hubbard-convicted-of-fraud.html The outlets are also describing the Cult's wholetrack criminality across the decades. Scientology’s French fraud conviction: Not the first legal case | csmonitor.com In 1984, an OT VII I knew told me that Operation Snow White consisted of trumped up charges against Scientologists who were wrongly convicted of stealing government copier paper. That story is still active inside of CoS. I wonder how CoS will spin these convictions? Will the Cult determine that the French court was stuck in an electronic incident? Mr. Hubbard has not yet been told the bad news. Who will be assigned to tell him? /////
Re: Verdict: GUILTY! French trial verdicts are in I know, I am just saying what the Scilons are thinking. They are calling the waaaaamblaunce for this. And odds are the court will refuse to hear their appeal. However, this side of the pond, there is win as well, since the ORGANIZATION of Scientology has been convicted of it in France, its not that big of a leap to petition the IRS to investigate their status as a nonprofit. And after what the Scilons did to them, odds are they will look for ANY excuse to revoke it.

Re: Verdict: GUILTY! French trial verdicts are in Article ends with: Press release courtesy Church of Scientology International I think the answer to your question is "Oh, it's that shit!"
Re: Verdict: GUILTY! French trial verdicts are in I'm less optimistic about Britain, though. Britain is the least principled civilisation in the whole of the Western World, has a woolier idea of civil rights, and the government has an active fetish for multiculturalism that blinds them to the wrongdoing of minority groups(especially if they are considered to be 'religions'), and would genuinely struggle to see Scilon fraud as fraud. A Tory government would be no escape from this case of affairs, as they are one of those 'fan of faith' governments who love handing over important jobs to organisations that happen to to count as 'religions'. Britons do, on the other hand, have a good nose for bullshit, which is why Scientology will not thrive there. But they may not see clearly enough to distinguish between the important concepts involved in a scientology fraud case. --Anon1260
Re: Verdict: GUILTY! French trial verdicts are in and in the US, freedom of religion is tied directly to free speech and press. Unlike you brits, we can call the Scilons whatever we want and get away with it.
Re: Verdict: GUILTY! French trial verdicts are in America should abolish the thing they now call 'Freedom of religion'. You already have freedom of ideas (e.g. cosmological ideas). You already have freedom of harmless deeds (e.g. prayer). Therefore what you cal 'freedom of reliigon' is, in truth, priviledge of religion over non-religion. You should abolish the legal concept of religion. --1260

Re: Verdict: GUILTY! French trial verdicts are in Now, in France what would be epic is for some other new (ex) Scientologists to sue the cult (as we can be sure they will not change their criminal tactics) so it can get nicely banned there 4 ever.
