    Last paragraph in particular:
"I would like to reassure your constituent that my Department will be publishing a Disclosure Log on the Department's Intranet by the end of May, where the previous statement I made on this subject will be made readily available to the public and local authorities."

Great letter and agreed on the "church".

A nice way to tell them to fuck off.

  8. Mr Pickles is a Yorkshireman and conforms to the stereotype in being 'plain speaking'. Reducing local government waste and bureaucracy is his specialist subject, so this affair is of interest to him.

It is now nearly the middle of July and I can't find it on the Communities and Local Government website so neither can the local authorities find it so the "Church" will keep its rates relief in most places.

Did he say which May? 2012, maybe?

It's not quite what was promised or expected perhaps but it's there in the 2011 FOI disclosure log, in the form of Bob Neill's letter to Councillor Dixon re: "charitable business rate relief for the Church of Scientology."

    Nice one.

Put another way, many elderly people will die of hypothermia this winter because they can not afford their heating bills. If they were subsidised by another £100 then they would probably live. The CoL gives the CoS £270,000 in rates relief. Divide that by £100 and we have 2,700. That is the number of old people who would be saved from hypothermia if they had the money to spend on their heating that the CoL are giving away to the CoS who do not help people much at all except for picking up a few syringes from the ground about once a year that they probably put there in the first place.
