I think there are more exception for press however, he was not really whistleblowing. He could have uploaded files to some account and made a delayed receive e.message until he was done moping up.

If he sent it directly to Fox or ABC or CNN and boasted just the same he would have been caught. The fact it was sent to Wikileaks first has nothing to do with it, and I find it quite ironic one of the more tinfoily posters on this board is actually toeing the US intelligence community's PR line on Wikileaks being inherently unsafe.
