I guess he made Travolta an offer he couldn't refuse

John needs to team up with the son of a Mobster & a Ex Con Director and a Mob Lawyer or
as the mobsters like to call them (a hard-on with a suitcase) to protect him from the bad reviews hes been getting for his latest stinkers.

Mobsters love movies about mobsters. They like the fanciness. Mobster's live, on the other hand, is not fancy at all

Travolta will play his Role exactly the way John Gotti jr wants from JohnnyT (sarcasm) as an " under appreciated benefactor to his community and a philanthropist beyond comparison" "whose reputation public persona was betrayed from the public trust"

all kidding aside the movie is being produced about a mobster for the son of a mobster who also was/is a mobster with an ex-con for a director! ..Hello!

What ya smokin these days Johnny Boy...
choice role there Johnny Travolta...If his agents and people don't pull him aside and tell him ..why don't you take a pass on this one They are babbo's too!

actually it names John Jr as producer - not director. It will be interesting to see who the director ends up being as well as if any other executive producers with real credentials in the biz are named.
  9. Triumph Member

sorry ex-con Marc Fiore is the co producer

should read another ex-con as the co-producer

Let's talk about Junior for a minute. This mutt is so incompetent, he ran the Teflon Don's empire into the ground with startling speed, winding up in the jug his own self.
Okay, Junior is fail as a mobster. His hits weren't of the Jimmy Hoffa quality, the people he had whacked were not handled properly. His decisions were probably drawn more from Soprano than Gambino, know what I'm sayin?

So Junior selects "little-known Fiore Films" as the film company, and JT as his dad, John Gotti. On their website, Fiore Films quotes the following:

Kinda sounds like they specialize in...you know. NSFW stuff. Their website has some luscious photography though, so their camera men got their chops down. Beautiful still shots that make me jellis. If this film tanks, it is because Junior Gotti insisted on directing it his way. The last vanity project JT was in was rated "worst film of the millenium," and that was one of the kinder reviews.

However, John Travolta has several experienced advisers to help him nail the role. There's Scientology lolyer Elliot Abelson, who traded working for the Gambino family to working for Scientology. I'm sure he can give JT some tips on being JG.

Then, of course, there's the little ecclesiasstickle leader of a mafia wrapped in religious trappings, DM. I don't know if JT and DM are on speaking terms, so DM might only be useful as an example of how a don might behave when he loses his midget temper and stamps his wee footies until the bullet holes bleed.

If nothing else, this movie will ultimately provide Chanology with lots of opportunity to compare Scientology with La Cosa Nostra. Except, I am sure I'd rather live next door to Tony Soprano. He at least makes an effort to be a good neighbor.

Really? I can't resist watching The Godfather when it comes on. I love that movie! (also, I am one of the few people who didn't get Tom Hagen in the Facebook quiz, "Which Godfather character are you?)

No interest, and I'm on a strict comedy only regime in movies.
    Drama and violence easy.
    Comedy hard.
  14. xenubarb Member

Much comedy not funny, true that. Hubbard thought comedy was easy. That is very clear in 'Aye! Pedrito!' one of the stupidest books I ever read.

However, special FX don't grow on trees and I love me some 3D mayhem!

Robin Williams and Jim Carrey give me the creeps.
  15. I know nothing of cold blooded murderer John Gotti Sr but I am pretty sure Junior thinks his old man was just a nice guy who was misunderstood. If this is the case; it sounds like a dumb move for Travolta.
  16. Smurf Member

You're "pretty sure" very wrong. Junior Gotti has an illustrious history as a "made man" with the Gambino crime family, much of it transpiring while his father was the godfather of the crime family. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_A._Gotti.
  17. Not to continue this discussion but that still doesn't mean he couldn't think well of his old man.
  18. subgenius Member

No, it doesn't. And he likely does.
  19. Smurf Member

True, but that's not what you said. "I am pretty sure Junior thinks his old man was just a nice guy who was misunderstood."

  20. Yes, I see. I do know that Gotti's daughter gets offended when people talk about her father as if he were some gangster. I never underestimate the defensiveness of family members. It never really surprises me when I hear a family member stick up for someone in their family no matter how bad this person may be. Just to be clear I am not saying this is always the case; just most of the time.

I am pretty sure Junior thinks his dad was a misunderstood nice guy just like Al Capone thought of himself as a nice guy who got a bad rap.

You may also be right and I may be wrong. It was a slow day and for some reason I felt I had to make a couple of posts that day and this thread seemed alright to put my two cents in. Either way I don't have much more to add, I don't think.

If you know anything of Mafia history, you're probably aware that the families are neither open or honest about their lives, for good reason. John Gotti, Sr. was a brazen career criminal who rose through the ranks of the Mafia to become the flamboyant Mafia boss. He groomed his son, Junior, to take his place if he could no longer do the job, i.e., he was murdered.

Junior's brother Peter (who starred with his sister Victoria on "Growing Up Gotti) is also a "made man" according to the FBI. The entire Gotti clan have integrity issues when it comes to explaining facts. To this day, Victoria Gotti swears her family had no ties to the Mafia and that her father was a simple plumber.

speaking of this, have you ever read "Gang Leader For a Day" by Sudhir Venkatesh? It's a first hand account of how gang leaders actually work

  27. I think all the Scientology actors should form their own movie company like Chaplin, Pickford, and Fairbanks did. Then they can all star in their own movies together and give work to struggling actors from the Celebrity Center. Just think Alley, Travolta, Cruise, Remini, Cartwright, and a cast of dozens in one film. Sort of a Hollywood apartheid.

John Travolta is set to play John Gotti Sr., the mobster known as the Dapper Don, in the indie pic Gotti: Three Generations. Nick Cassavetes will direct the screenplay by Leo Rossi, which focuses on the relationship between John Gotti Sr., the head of the Gambino crime family who died in prison in 2002, and his son John Gotti Jr., who took over the family business for his father, served time in prison, but then successfully escaped conviction in four subsequent racketeering trials.

Marc Fiore is producing for his Fiore Films. Marty Ingels, the former comic turned talent broker, has come on board the project as executive producer.
Gotti Jr., who's given his blessing to the project, plans to join the producers, Travolta and Cassavetes at a press conference on April 12 at the Sheraton New York Hotel.
Travolta, repped by WME, last appeared in the action thriller From Paris with Love.

Rumor has it that Lindsay Lohan will be playing Victoria Gotti in the movie.

The movie is now officially a bad joke someone is playing on the general public.
