    Transcription made easier:
    Windows Media Player Method:
    Audacity Method
    * Select a section of the sound clip & use SHIFT-Play to loop the sound selection
    * Free Open Source Sound Editor Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder

Does anyone else have any free suggestions? What would be idea is a single application that includes a text pad & a sound player so you can stop & start the sound clip without having to switch between applications.

    Express Dictate

Has a good pause fuction (F9 to start/stop) and F10/11/12 for speed control.

Unfortunately I can't seem to get the rewind to work without leaving the text editor. This is it's only flaw thus far.

This installs a ridiculous number of extra versions, but it has been very helpful thus far.

    I will take 40 and 50.

Re: Transcript: Mark Bunker and Jeff Hawkins Interviews

The Rewind and Fast-Forward settings are for a ridiculously small time period -- half a second. If you go to ExpressScribe's Playback Settings this can be changed. It's in milliseconds, so I use 5000ms (i.e. 5 seconds). Hope this helps!

And thanks again for your assistance :D

No prob. For some reason I was using Dictate and not Scribe (both were installed so I just opened the first I came to) and it is not as useful a program.

Re: Transcript: Mark Bunker and Jeff Hawkins Interviews

    possible errors:
David Miscaviage. i refuse to memorize his name, because that makes it easier for me to think of his as an asthmatic dwarf.
name (chuck beatty?) third paragraph from the last.
San Jacinto? my personal spellcheck likes that spelling.

my chronic comma abuse, combined with conversational speech patterns, may render some of Jeff's answers exceedingly verbose-looking.

occasional bits of laughter or emotion in [] thingies.

Dawn's MASSIVE emphasis on the word 'zero' i put in caps. i didn't see a good way to do that.

also, in Dawn's first paragraph about us, there was a bit of unclarity (sorry dawn!) about who she was talking about.
"From somebody who's been inside the org, and knows they've been through various levels of protest, this being the largest and most global."
i assumed that 'they' meant Co$ even though she'd just mentioned Anonymous, and put a parenthetical note as such.

Thank you all helpers!! We're almost ready to dispatch another transcript! The last transcript was downloaded 125 times in the first 24 hours of posting (on a *Sunday*), and has already been used by Dawn in two releases (one two) and I am sure it'll get more use as well!

These are all fine -- the important thing is to get the words down, and then some poor editor can smooth it all over ;) You've done the hard work, and I thank you for that!!

of course, i would draw a silly part.

    anyway, um...

i think that i got the names all right this time, except for VF's. i have no idea how to spell that out.

use of quotation marks has always been something that trips me up. Mr. final editor, kindly pay attention to those, at least one is probably wrong.

the last two things, WBM and Jeff were talking at the same time with the same sentiment, so i lumped them into [JH, MB:]

now then, 100%... lets spam some internets with this! \m/

Re: Transcript: Mark Bunker and Jeff Hawkins Interviews

A 'tidy' transcript has been produced. This is not necessarily every single word spoken: phrases like "You know" and "I mean" have been removed, and sentences pruned to reduce repetition and make more managable sentences.

This transcript is 23 pages long, full of Wisdom and Beard, and is available from here:

:flowers: Thanks to all the contributors. For non-English speakers like me a transcript makes it so much easier to "devour and digest" such interviews.
