London! And a member of government asks us, what can we do about Scientology? By Tony Ortega, The Underground Bunker, August 4, 2015 ...we had a special tour of the United Kingdom’s Houses of Parliament yesterday, thanks to a member of the government who happens to be an ardent Underground Bunker reader. Our new friend gave us a special tour, and we got to stand in some locations where most public don’t go... <snipped> But here’s the important thing about our excursion. Over a pint of ale, our friend said to us, what is it that we in government can do about Scientology? He was genuinely asking for advice. Sweeney and your proprietor had some ideas, and we talked about the new Narconon Scientology is trying to put in, as well as the church’s charitable status and the cute trick it pulls with an Australian address (uncovered by Bryan Seymour). But we have to admit we were at a bit of a loss. We are less familiar with Scientology’s situation here and how local laws affect it. So we’ll put it to you, our UK readers, what should we tell our new friend in government about the things it should be doing about Scientology in England? Besides giving us an answer here in the comments, please come to Conway Hall tonight in London to tell us in person. Sweeney, your proprietor, and Silvertail Books publisher Humfrey Hunter will be discussing Scientology beginning at 19:30, and we’d love to see you. IMO.... the term "your proprietor" was used twice in the above article. It is so cringe worthy and it is getting VERY old. Again IMO. I thought it was a joke at first and I asked in another thread if it was a joke or not. But people said it wasn't. To me it's like talking in the third person, which to me is just kinda icky. Is it just me? Nothing against Tony, but so sorry! Love all that he does in taking down the cult, but he can lose that term and I wouldn't miss it. /derail
Some writers never like to say "I" because they feel it draws too much attention to themselves, so instead they use "we" and other artifices.
One productive thing for the UK government to do would be to sort out the loophole which allows CoS to claim an exemption from property tax as if they were a charity, even though they're not a charity. As per http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11554738 only it never actually happened. https://whyweprotest.net/forums/scientology-property-tax.229/
Advise schools to stop using the Truth About Drugs so called "education" programme. https://www.facebook.com/PDDrugEducation Drug Free Kids Campaign is a scientology front group https://appletzara.wordpress.com/2015/05/09/walk-the-kingdom-hide-the-truth/
