Today Tonight report on Senate Inquiry release (7/9/2010)

In case you have missed it, the senate inquiry is now at an end, and the committee's report is now publicly available. See this thread about that: http://forums.whyweprotest.net/318-senator-xenophon-scientology/amazing-senate-ctee-report-70781/

Coincidentally (and unfortunately) released at the same time of the determination of Australia's future government, the recommendations laid down by the Senate Economics Committee signal impending doom for organised Scientology in the form of increased scrutiny on charitable and religious organisations, as well a focus on the dangers and influences of cults.

Big thanks to reporter Brian Seymour as usual.

    Thanks Zhent.

That was truly an epic bit of video.

I wonder if the cult will be issuing a press release tomorrow - I do hope so...

Did I hear him say at the end that investigations ARE being carried out by the British Government?

    ahhhh this is beautiful.
Nice compilation of Sci news all in one little package.
When you see it all together like that, who can possibly watch it and cry religious bigotry? Well of course besides Scientology.
Scientology had years to shit or get off the pot. But their greed and abuse sunk them.

Let's hope that whomever decides the outcome in the end, was not able to be bought, wined and dined, and or bullied by COS. And if they were, I hope people can make an even bigger stink and pry more.
The burden that COS puts on the general people in AU by not paying taxes has to be made even more public. The one thing that seems to make people listen above all else in most cases, (not all) is what is hurting them in the wallet.

Unfortunately, no matter how important it is to hear the stories of a ex church member's abuse....
more often then none, the importance of those stories many times comes up against "it's their own fault for joining a stupid cult in the first place" atttitude. Even tho WE know that is hardly the case.
But making people pay more taxes because some non religious organization is getting over on them? Bazingo! Now you have the public's ear.

lol - I hadn't thought that far - just that it should be spread far and wide. Do they normally let things stay on youtube, or does it get taken down?

  35. Re: Today Tonight report on Senate Inquiry release (7/9/2010)

    Oh happy days indeed. :D

Got to read the full Inquiry report on my way back from the Channel Seven studios tonight and it's so much more than I ever hoped we'd get - I've had a grin all night long.

Thanks to ALL of you for helping make this happen - without the anons making the abuses public here in Oz and elsewhere, we'd never have had a hope of getting this result.

wwp and the various other forums have actually helped shape a better future for us all in Oz - and that'll spill into other Commonwealth countries and eventually reach the USA. This is the first time that the 'Net has been able to effect real political change that I'm aware of.

    So. Much. Win.
