    Food for thought:

It appears to this writer that for DM as well as Marty and Rinder that:
"Scientology has done bad things" is OK

    however, that
"Scientology is a fraud and not a religion" is not okay..

Compare Aaron Saxton's absolutely brilliant 7 part video on youtube
    See YouTube - aaronsaxton1's Channel

to Marty and Rinder's Oh my Dm slapped me!

Re sptimes, I have an attitude problem with the sptimes.. who had some law firm threaten to sue me a few years ago for webbing their articles - and I had webbed them using OCR from microfiche long before they even had their archive online..... which are now broken links... What irritated me was that a simple request would have been fine... I felt almost like I was being baited...Does the sptimes know they are selling to eRepublic, a clam prorpaganda outfit? I dunno.

a little creepy, but companies can and will sell to anyone if the price is right.

Im not sure how influential "Governing" is, but:

what do you want to bet in the next few months you'll be seeing articles touting the greatness of criminon and narconon

If the magazine is a money loser, maybe this is a good thing. ;^)

I suspect it's fairly common for the bean counters (left hand) to not have a clue what the editorial side (right hand) is up to.

If you dance with the devil, the devil don't change. The devil changes you
In other words will they start doing "nice stories "for Scientology now that they paid for advertising space? Or will they keep exposing Scientologies crimes for the world to see?

    Come on guys!!!

Don't you see the meaning of this? Check out who reads this magazine. They are going to try to use to influence government officials.

Interesting point, it had not occurred to me before but the idea that diminutive David Miscavige thinks "Scientology does bad things" is OK has merit.

Have to figure that as Aaron Saxton says, David Miscavige is really just following policy and enforcing it like a zealot that David Miscavige probably doesn't care because he knows it's policy and so right. And the attacks are a result of their success so more of the same.

Governing Magazine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Judging from what this wiki article is saying, this could possibly make any chance of convincing government officials to take a stance against this the criminal cult of Co$ extremely difficult, if not impossible.

    Worst Case Scenario:
Scientology is going to be running pro-Scientology and anti-Scientology-criticism articles monthly, aimed for our governing officials to read. And don't count on Senators, governors, and officials to actually do anything intelligent like research to judge whether such articles are just bullshit or propaganda. After all, how could they know the magazine is owned by Scientology?

I would like to verify if this is actually happening cause if its true, Scientology-critics will have another front group of Scientology to worry about, one with direct media influence on our officials (at least the ones who read the magazine). Moreover, every official and reader will have to be informed about this news, ASAP.

Thanks for letting me know that somebody 'gets' it..
here is more fuel for the fires of enlightenment..

A reliable source informed me that DM's attorney William Drescher is advising DM to play the part of Brigham Young and make Hubbard into Joseph Smith. Feeding Dm's ego with "everyone remembers Brigham Young few remember John Smith!"

I was asked to reply to the Mormon metaphor when it was used as a defence for doing bad things by Heber Jentsch to some magazine editor, I replied, with a question... "well, the mormons massacred over a 100 innocents of that wagon train (now) 120+ years ago...so in a 100 years will scientology then be like the mormons??

I'd like to ask the IRS this one question: Exactly how many people would I have to get to agree that I am a religion to gain charitable status? Would I have to hypnotize 1? 10? 100?

    8 million? (HAH)

Re: St. Petersburg Times Sells Magazine to Scientology Publisher

I don't see the big deal. Scientology's trying to buy the SP Times' silence by giving them money. The SP Times is run as a non-profit by the journalism school that owns it. They don't need Scientology's money, though I'll bet they're happy to take it.

So Scientology buys this magazine. (Who the hell is buying magazines these days, btw?? Don't Scienos read Gawker?) Maybe there'll be a transitional issue or two where people won't know about the change in ownership and Scn will slip in a little propaganda. But eventually the mag's credibility will wither, and it'll be just another Freedom Magazine for us all to laugh at.

They've had serious financial problems for a time now, and given the history between the two groups, it doesn't surprise me at all that the CofS would ensure that they're the highest bidder.

Unfortunately, commercial realities being what they are, they may not have had much choice but to take the offer.

Who buys magazines OR newspapers anymore? They're both a dying media. Why not take the cult's $1M when offered. A no brainer as I see it. IMO:cool:

And, I seriously doubt they'll start publishing positive stories re: narconon, etc. It'll never happen.

My issue with this is that the subscriber base is 85,000 goverment officials. This purchase not only gives them an editorial platform for their views, but it that it also could give their reporters personal access to the officials.

I think at an appropriate time people who are alarmed by this should insure that tax dollars are not used to subscribe to this publication.

Mormons slaughtered over 100 members of a wagon train in Southern Utah in September 1857 (only a few children were allowed to live) in what became known as the "Mountain Meadow Massacre".

Claims that it was a locally-initiated action were questioned, as church members were known to be subject to strict discipline (including castration, google "warren snow") should they act against directives of their patriarchy.

Many years later, church official John D. Lee was tried twice, and ultimately convicted for his part in the massacre. Lee dictated a book (titled "Confession") to explain his claim of innocence, which was widely read after his execution in March 1877 and implicitly accused Brigham Young for ordering the action.

Young defended himself in a sermon in May 1877, stating it was the earlier lynching of Joseph Smith that was a motivation for the massacre. It's rumored that the church hierarchy then plotted to rid themselves of Young, and conspired to slip him a fatal dose of arsenic (Young died under suspicious circumstances in August 1877).

Was the apparent murder of Brigham Young a precusor to, and "religious" excuse for, the apparent murder of L. Ron Hubbard 109 years later?

So if we start a site, run anti-sci articles frequently, and have a couple other branches of news outlets, we can make a million dollars by selling one?
