David's "us verses them" attitude and trying to come off as the "them" are evil ones is so sick & destructive, while the little robot $cientolgists actually clap to his words, I almost wanted to barf! Seriously, however, I decided that David or the cult wasn't worth wasting any of my stomach contents over. The St. Peterberg's Times did a wonderful exposing this cult. I would never want to live near Clearwater, FL, and I feel bad for the innocent people who live there and put up with this cult. Hopefully not for long because Scientology will explode in 2010!

:D "Viva la libertad" (Freedom lives) for "Viva la Anonymous!"

Also very fitting lyrics for $cientology Exploding in 2010!

The Bible is supposedly the literal word of God. The Quran is not supposed to be even translated out of Arabic because it is the verbatim, literal word of God. That hasn't stopped believers from changing both in significant ways throughout history.

Indeed, if a religion can't change, then all Christians would be selling their daughters into slavery and taking several paces outside a civilized area to take a dump.

And there are signs of a desire to change the belief system of Scientology (i.e.: many Scientologists who change to Freezone). So it ain't impossible. Maybe tricky for majority, but not impossible.

The situations are quite different: AFAIK, only your second statement is true (considering mainstream).
I am not sure of that. The belief system and the management of the organization are quite intemixed here. I have problems understanding how FZ can decide which part of LRH's words are to be droped.

Ann the Bible was considered to be the literal word of God and still is by some. The fact that most do not is evidence of the type of change about which I am speaking.

Re: SP Times - "The abuse behind Scientology's facade"

That is a question of definition, isn't it? Do you mean "not Scientology" as in "not licensed by the RTC" or as in "no longer similar enough to the original Scientology to still be called Scientology"?

If the practice retains the main essence of Scientology, and you call that Scientology, then you're not correct, and Scientology can reform.

If Scientology can only be Scientology if David Miscavige approves of it, then Scientology disappears the minute David Miscavige no longer leads it.

So you see, your statement doesn't have any informational content unless you specify whose definition of "Scientology" you agree with - David Miscavige's or the more logical one.

I believe people have a right to practice Scientology - except for those parts of it which are harmful - and do so without David Miscavige or his chosen successors ruling their lives. I believe they even should be allowed to call themselves something with "Scientology" in the name - as long as it's clear that they are a splinter group.

I believe LRH was an evil fraud, but some of the stuff he used to make Scientology had some perceived benefit to people, and I have no need to stamp that out of existence as long as the abuses end.

While Marty still has things to answer for, there's no indication that he wants to take over the CoS or to abuse people in his splinter group. If he wants to continue to think LRH was a great guy, well I don't really care - he might change his mind later. In the meantime though, he and other independents are very effective at speaking out and being joined by longtime Scientologists who no longer want to support abuses. Indeed, since LRH often said one thing and did something else, it turns out that a lot of the bad stuff that the CoS today does - even when consistent with what LRH did - is against the lofty ethical rules that LRH wrote for PR and public use; I see the almost poetic in a situation where Scientology public refuse to do what Sea Orgers tell them to, and refer to an LRH policy or the Code of Honor to support their position. It is not the only approach, but it is a very effective one.

By the way, the above sort of presupposes that Scientology is a religion. It isn't. It's a brainwashing cult to some, but to others it's just a set of philosophies and mental techniques that they use in their daily lives. The former group needs help to break through the brainwashing, while the latter group can just drop the parts that are bad and carry on happily as independents.
Only in the sense that God / The Holy Spirit speaks through the human authors - there are a few segments that are dictated by God directly, but most of it is written by humans - it even says so in the very text, and in the title of the books. Even the Gospels - the books treated as the most sacred by the Catholic Church - are named after their human authors.

The Quran is quite different to the Bible in that way, because while most of the Bible is only God's word as in inspired by it, the Quran is actually considered to be directly dictated by God.

The main problem with the reform of Scientology is that KSW bans any research and debate. Reform of Christianity was not done by changing the Bible, but rather by looking closer at the original text, in the original Hebrew and Greek and viewing it in a new light - so even if one were to ban modification of Hubbard's writings, there could be quite a lot of reform, but KSW bans even questioning it.

SICK! TB BECAUSE, there is no way anyone can practice this evil cult's teachings & be considered good or moral!!

Re: SP Times - "The abuse behind Scientology's facade"

I suspect that if one were to take the beneficial parts of Scientology and practice only those, the reformed Scientology would be as different from Scientology as Chemistry is from Alchemy and Astronomy is from Astrology - but I don't know that for sure.

If the former group breaks through the brainwashing, there's no way they'd want to come back in to the group that brainwashed them.

And the latter group is just as brainwashed - to think that there are actually good parts to the LRH teachings. The statement"drop the parts that are bad" acknowledges that some parts are bad, yet they do nothing to remove or resist those parts (fair game, disconnection, etc).

Re: SP Times - "The abuse behind Scientology's facade"

I mean what's practiced by the greedy, gullible and enslaved. Without the money coming in, the RTC isn't going to exist for long.

David Miscavige is only doing what L. Ron Hubbard taught him to do: keep Scientology working no matter what. Hubbard certainly changed his crap while he was alive to keep it a money-making con. Hello? It's not a religion and was never meant to be a religion, but now it's a religion so we can get a tax break? That's not the only change Hubbard made. Hubbard was a con man and his student Lil Davey learned his lessons well.

So, there is really no difference in Hubbard's Scientology and Miscavige's Scientology...which is what this SPTimes editorial said.

When their slave trading is finally and mercifully cut off and the big money finally runs out due to rich public Sci's leaving in droves, then who will be left to call themselves a Scientologist? Who will want to align themselves with anything named "Scientology"?

Marty doesn't just have "things to answer for". Marty is a criminal. Marty is guilty of a lot of things and Marty should serve jail time.

Marty is exactly the person that you don't want overseeing what's left of the cult when it implodes. Marty has no conscience. Marty has no remorse for what he's done. Marty is a liar and no matter how many times he posts on his precious blog that he has no intention of taking over, every step he makes moves him closer to that goal.

The Bible and the Quran are both holy books that were written in the hope of guiding people to be kind, respectful, truthful, and loving. It is true that both holy books have been skewered and "interpreted" by people and have lead to some horrific events. We know that most holy books of every major religion have some passage that admonishes the faithful to live by the Golden Rule: to do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

There is no Golden Rule in L. Ron's Con.
