If you look at the toolbar atop the box in which you compose your post, second row down, fourth icon from the right is a square with a pic of a little tree in it:

    1. click on that icon
    2. type or paste in the url/image location
    3. click the 'insert' button on the bottom left.
    4. everybody profits

And since you're new, a protip: some people can be very critical here, take it all with a grain of salt.

  5. After fetching the URL from the image storage site, use this tool in the Message Editor:

    Then enter the URL here:

Click Insert and it's a done deal for posting and displaying an image from off-site storage.

    Oops! A Jinx! :)

P.S. - Very Cool Flame Job!!!

sweet, but when i posted that image i didn't get any toolbar above the text window, thought it was strange, no insert image button, i had scripts forbidden in my browser, must have been why there was no toolbar. i got it now. thanks.

  8. BTW, Imgur is very inexpensive. The site will allow 255 images stored for free, but begin to delete when that quantity is reached.

    It's about USD/CDN $25.00 per year.

This is some mutt taking part in some festival in Spain, where apparently it's considered a good idea to run horses thru bonfires.
I just stuck a mask on him.

    Heh. Heheheh. Heh.
  28. adam zygote Member

what's to explain? it's just a spin off of other banner ideas i've seen.
  29. Dragononymous Member

What's with the shadow, failed lens flare and attempt to get it 3d?

fine, you don't like it. whatever. let's see something you've done that's better. a simple "tweak this" or "tweak that" would have been sufficient.

    I don't get it.

    cool. nice work
  37. Yes. It is very fine work. I applaud you posting your work here. Posting here makes work subject to rigorous critique and your banner post has received some of that.

I agree with most of the critiques about the banner design. The highlight sparkle looks contrived.

The Emboss Filter is too obvious. Same goes for the Lens Flare Filter.

I find your basic design/composition to be interesting, but I'm not completely sold on the cast shadow idea. Have you tried different scale for that shadow image? Might work better if larger. Maybe not, but I think it should be explored.

The piece overall looks hurried and therefore looks like some effects on a surface rather than a carefully considered design idea.

Best to avoid obvious filters like the Emboss Filter & Lens Flare unless the design really benefits from it. It doesn't here. It looks superficial.

Also, before you choose a filter (like, say "Lens Flare") it would be a very good idea to see if there's an article on that filter in ED.
If there is, it is probably a warning that you shouldn't use it.

This one might look abit better, according to the different sized + it get's rid of the double ring. White inside can simply be removed if needed.
