    Interesting chap:

Nick Xenophon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Well worth a read - brits and yanks might find the more advanced democracy concepts a bit tricky, but a bit of word clearance (or just skip the obscure bits) will help.
  6. Re: Senator Calls for Inquiry into CoS - Australia

ABC's Lateline just covered the story.

Has anyone passed this along to the SP Times for follow-up? Especially since they are specifically mentioned in the speech.

Mr. Baca might also be interested.

So what does it mean if the Epic Xeno-guy has abused his parliamentary privileges by speaking out? Does it end here?

Someone should send him a copy of BFG's book. Someone, not me, cuz I don't haz teh moneyz but think its a good idea.
  24. Re: Senator Calls for Inquiry into CoS - Australia

Near impossible - that's why it's called a privilege - basically the right to say anything without geting in trouble for it.

Ironically - much like the priest-penitent privilege the cult falsely claims to have as an absolute defence against providing the dox about the fried soldier...

If Xenophon was abusing privilege, the chair would have smacked him down 30 seconds into the speech.

The abuse of privilege claim is pure $cilon BS.

Re: Senator Calls for Inquiry into CoS - Australia

Xenophone better watch his back. If Scientology tanks in AU, they lose their license in Great Britain.

It would not be good if his lug nuts got loose and his wheels fell off on the Nullarbor Plain and then the senator gets eated by dingos.

Just sayin...the Scilons are desperate enough, doncha think? Marc Headley's lawyer came down with a case of loose lug nuts. Not to say the cult was responsible, this shit happens all the time to just plain folks. Right? RIGHT?
  33. Re: Senator Calls for Inquiry into CoS - Australia

Mails sent to Alderman Ian Luder and Chief Superintendent Kevin Hurley who both said (in 2007) what a great thing was the arrival of Co$ in the city. Asked them whether they'd consider clarifying their position now that Co$ has been convicted of fraud etc - particularly interested to hear if the senior copper is happy for his name to continue to be bandied around as a supporter of convicted fraudsters.

Don't expect to hear anything back, but if a mediafag was to start asking questions of these gentlemen...

Incidentally it may be a good time to get back in touch with Norman Baker MP - he may be more inclined to ask a Q in parliament now.
  34. Re: Senator Calls for Inquiry into CoS - Australia

More immediatly, doesn't the senator have a pet dingo called Boris?
  35. Re: Senator Calls for Inquiry into CoS - Australia

The dingo ate my [STRIKE]baby[/STRIKE] senator!
  36. Re: Senator Calls for Inquiry into CoS - Australia

Win after win after win after win after win

Hope this starts the ball rolling to get that tax exemption removed in both Australia and the UK. And maybe the US if they can wake up long enough to see what's going on in their own backyard.
If they are actually dumb enough to try this, it would be a "win" for them in the short run but a footcannon in the long run.

Re: Senator Calls for Inquiry into CoS - Australia

The Church of Scientology released a statement last night accusing Senator Xenophon of an "outrageous" abuse of parliamentary privilege.

"Senator Xenophon is obviously being pressured by disgruntled former members who use hate speech and distorted accounts of their experiences in the church," the statement read.

"They are about as reliable as former spouses are when talking about their ex-partner."
The church described the former members' statements as constituting a "propaganda campaign that would suit a totalitarian regime, not Australia, a country that recognises freedom of religion".

The church's statement did not respond to any of the specific allegations made against it.

So, fully reliable then, like the ex-wives statements used to discredit those speaking out?
