Secure your computer from none-updated mayhem

Some of you might know this already, some not.

Most infections and resulting hackings, adding to botnets or whatever more goes by old, not up-to-date plugins and programs these days.

As we (and the entire world) know that mankind is too lazy to check every plugin every day, smart people came up with smart solutions.

For Firefox Plugins, Mozilla came up with this:

Use it once/twice a week and your firefox plugins should be up-to-date all the time.

But that only covers the FireFox Plugins, which is only a tiny part of the dangerzone.

To cover almost all the software on your PC or Mac, I would recommend using the free PSI by Secunia (

Simple and easy to work with, so even the oldest anons can work with it (*hinthint*)

Scan for updates of almost all the software you have, and comes up with the updates right away.

Hope this gets some of you out of trouble. Stay safe!

Mod edit: Dragon asked that this be added to the OP:
Could also check out in case you've got the idea you missed something (or really are into all the beta stuff)

I was unable to find the link at Secunia for Mac. Well, I'm better-protected, anyway :)

    Thanks for the data!

Found something that might be interesting for the AppleJunkies around here.

You will have to check it yourself though. But it sounds promising.

Things that I use to clean a PC all free some have an option to buy, but why spend the money.

    Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller
Some unsigned drivers can show in the found list, so you would need some knowlage of what is good and bad.

    Advanced SystemCare 5
Use the free version and do a deep clean. After installed it will run its proformance boost at PC start up and not the malware detection, so dont expect it to keep you secure if its running in the background.

    PCs LOL

    One size fits all.
  21. Try PRIVAZER [freeware] after your 'clean' with Advanced Sys will be surprised at what is left uncleaned.
  22. "Patch Tuesday is the second Tuesday of each month, on which Microsoft regularly releases security patches."
for those who didn't know :-D

    thnx dragon!;)
