sorry, but when I typed the name of this "Marginal Religious Movements" I realized it was a Liability The Harper article is full of squirrels and weird stuff! If you get it, do not open, but forward to OSA int
An epic comparative reference for this project was posted from PlainOldThetan in the Indie camp today. Definitely worth a read & worthy of the click love so I wont fully quote it ITT. But I found this extremely insightful, and not because i agree with it, but merely for providing the ability to see/reference all sides of the "r" word fence more clearly. THE CHURCH OF EMPTY COLLARS From the disclaimer at the end From the 48k GOLDEN nugget in the middle ^^I need to dig further on this general angle... methinks i missed over turning a stone that requires some of mai attention. said stone: THE BACKGROUND, MINISTRY, CEREMONIES & SERMONS OF THE CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY. http://www.amazon.com/Background-Ministry-Ceremonies-Scientology-Religion/dp/1573181749 that i've been wanting my own personal hardcopy of since way bak here: http://forums.whyweprotest.net/thre...es-sermons-of-the-scientology-religion.90166/
also, this one is mighty fine too http://forums.whyweprotest.net/thre...-post-apostasy-behaviour-and-attitudes.98468/ (and both are on my reading list for sooner rather than later absorption... just as soon as i catch up on shi- i've gotten behind on)
evar have one of those leaky eye moments, where some random bs came out of your mouth jokingly, and some random stranger takes it to heart, takes it seriously and does something really amazing? I had one early today. and i'm still all wishy washy choked up over it. somebody who i do not know apparently got a hold of the hardback version of this toolkit textbook from Wiley after seeing me prattle on about it somewhere: The Religion Toolkit: A Complete Guide to Religious Studies: http://bit.ly/ArjYoq and then they went the looooonnnng away around to get ahold of somebody they trusted to get ahold of someone else who knows me, who then pinged me on twitter. and a belated Christmas gift will supposedly be on its way to me next week. whoever you are, thank you!!! srsly - thank you and the middle man/woman who will send it on to me when they get it! and i dont know if the msg relayed with the offer was your own words or the intermediary but every time i think of it I'm so very touched: "because anons do so much for others with no personal cause, i wanted to do this for you anonymously" (dam leaky eyes again)
Pssfffttt... it didnt actually say that. But its definitely a good read and still relevant despite being dated. Thank you jstorfag, Mwah! While digging around the Christian Research Network for comparative resource cites, I happened upon a fascinating read from a lady by the name of Dwayna Litz of a ministry called Lighting the Way Worldwide that I had never seen before. Christfag trolling the cult in grand form when she got a full tour of ASHO back in 2004. First the article teaser on CRN (dont let the preaching turn you away, its only that heavy in the teaser): http://christianresearchnetwork.com/?p=8666 Then the article itself: http://ltwinternational.org/main/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=91&Itemid=48 Can't help but wonder if "Vinnie" ever woke up.
The scanned pages with Scientology mentions are taken from the 1991 (current/last/Fourth Ed.) version of the book, and it was apparently added as new material in the 3rd edition but expanded in the 4th. And the title page thumbnail their showing on google for the 1st edition, when blown up says Fourth Edition (which google also has for sale as an e-book) altho the product details list it as 3rd edition. So they got it all screwed up :/ And I dont see anyway to tell 'em that nor upload revised pages?
No, but i plan to revisit later... it seems to me there was only 3 editions, the fact they called the last version the 4th has me stumped and I need to search worldcat or something similar that's more comprehensive in regards to international pubs history.
I'm on the lookout for pics of creepy scilon ministers in full on clergy regalia, preferably with the big bling cross shining proud and a descriptive caption stating who/where it is. Like this one: John H. Boshoff, Scientology minister in attendance at a joint eventwith his church and the Nation of Islam. Anybody got anymore?
Ahhh, that explains a part of whats partially off in googlebooks then, the '81 didnt show up elsewhere. Since the '66 and the '91 are showing different scientology excerpts on googlebooks, methinks the '66 has chapter level content from the 3rd edition '81 version, combined with the index and title page from the '91. IOW it's farked.
Yeah. Some secondhand cheap 3rd Editions below:- http://www.abebooks.co.uk/book-search/title/what-the-cults-believe/author/robertson-irvine/sortby/3/
I'm not so much interested in that ATM, since the '91 expanded the original scientology chapter. Unless i stumple up something significant that changed with cult practices/policies from like 1981-1983 era of the time track. OR, track down something indicating this particular book/author got lashback from the initial inclusion of Scientology in the 3rd edition... that would paint an interesting light on the differences between the 3rd & 4th editions.
Creepy, but maybe not what you were looking for... Katie Holmes signs autographs for fans in New York last night http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbi...-autographs-dressed-priest.html#ixzz1jJ8RBTxx
^^LOL. Oy not quite. There is lots to be had from the mags, however i havent looked thru recent/current ones for active scilon rev shots. and i was hoping to mix a couple real photos with magazine or newspaper snippet images. a shot of John Carmichael in collar & cross would make me cum. (or similarly known local/regional org spokeshole)
EX Scientology minister Well, Ex-Scn but still on the books as a practicing cleric... Sorry. Nattery.
Could have sworn that I've seen one somewhere, but I may have mocked it up. This guy is from LA. Not sure if he has a name. https://whyweprotest.net/community/...l-ron-hubbards-philosophy-of-dianetics.52948/ DURN. The video seems to be gone now. Maybe someone has a mirror? haz Sorry. Will try for more creepy. Nerve assist demo is not creepy at all!

Unfortunately that one doesnt make for a good screen grab sauce. Bump for more scilon reverend pics - surely there's at least a few more easily gotten ones floating around? Also - John Carmichael... I can't find one of him in his collar worthy of using, and I practically got my knickers in a knot ovar search fail frustration :/
Usually yes, LOL... but NO in this case, not this time. I'm looking for real pics & preferably of recognizable faces that I can put meaningful captions on.
illustration, might be a Christian anyhoo, but I hadn't seen this one before (you probably have) http://www.carolineletkeman.org/collections/hubbard-on-religion
