I'm just looking into getting some OCR software for Mac, turn images into pdfs etc. .... Mebbe ABBYY Finereader... But then I spotted recommendations for Devonworks pro version, which seems good also for organising/tagging lots of stuff, as well as the OCR bit. Anyone here used it?
The Open Source OCR programs that work on Mac are: Tesseract OpenOCR GOCR OCRad I went down some rabbit holes following http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Document_management_system#See_also and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Document_automation#Vendors
There's an online version of OCRad at http://ocr1.sc.isc.tohoku.ac.jp/e1/ though it doesn't output PDFs
For dox organising on a Mac I've used Alfresco with good success. Here are the installation instructions
There's a .dmg version at http://downloads.bitnami.org/files/...-alfresco-4.2.c-2-osx-x86-nojdk-installer.dmg
