A Crime Against Self By James Curcio, Rebel News, September 4, 2015 A North Carolina 17-year-old is being tried as an adult in a case which is being described as “Kafkaesque.” The charge is sexual exploitation of minors. One of the minors he exploited was himself. The other was his girlfriend, who was the only known recipient of the sexual photographs. The young couple were both 16 at the time the photographs were taken and exchanged. This may seem an unusual case, or a fluke, but in reality it is neither. In 2007, I wrote an article for Alterati (a now defunct counterculture webmag) about a case in Texas about a girl tried as an adult for child pornography — taking pictures of herself. The absurdity of this should be apparent on its face. How can someone be legally tried as an adult when they were the ones taking the compromising photographs of a child… of themselves? This reminded me of another thread where this topic is discussed tangentially, mostly in the later pages. https://whyweprotest.net/threads/ch...e-school-that-told-her-to-clap-rapist.109967/
Definitely a case of the government getting it wrong, which is hardly shocking. Seems to me that what kids who do this need is better education, guidance, and an awareness of the possible consequences of thier actions. What they DON'T need is to be criminalized and possibly branded as "sex offenders" for the rest of their lives. This does not solve the problem, does it?
