  1. but arent they at level 6 already?
wasn't Chernobyl at a level 7 when it destroyed everything. most of my worry is over the fact that the american media is doing barely nothing to at least inform if not warn the people of the west coast.

They're also reporting that if radiation gets into the ocean, the jet stream could carry it to the shores of the U.S.

Trust me, the Chernobyl failure was a completely different animal than what we're dealing with right now at Dai-ichi. It's still a serious problem but it's not going to splode like Chernobyl and send highly radioactive particulate matter en mass into the atmosphere.

Nevada is not the West Coast.
But I just checked, and everyone in NV is already dead.

    Sorry about that.
  5. anoninoob Member

heh, yeah. Sharon Angle is a bigger threat that non-existent radiation from Japam.

Don't be a nincompoop. The chicks dig testicles, not tentacles... unless they're octopus chicks!

..and here I am sitting in the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska and don't know what the hell is going on!!
Are we gonna get hit or not? That is the question!

True enough. Some chicks have testicles. I fail at gender studies.

I bet $cientology is now planning a big promotion of their "plurifecation rundown", and every body franticly taking high does of Niacin, as it is $cientifically proven and well known that $cn will be the only ones to survive the nuclear disaster, as they are the only ones with the tekkkkk
Or maybe they will just shut themsleves in that big bunker in the hillside, you know with the Titanium plates full of the Source.
(Wonder whether it is the updated version)
Come to think if it, I'm gonna get my titanium plate out and fill it with sauce, maybe that will help too......

i hope you're correct my dear sir.
  22. anoninoob Member

I hope so to. Things are looking positive even though more problems keep cropping up. As of a few hours ago, they were close to connecting a new power line to the coolant pumps in the active reactors but the spent fuel rod cooling pools next door may be empty. they've been dropping water via helicopter and are working on some other solutions. The spent fuel rod pools are a big problem but aren't going to explode. There could be a release of radioactive volatiles but not in an explosive manner a la Chernobyl. The active reactors could also release a volume of radioactive volatiles, but again, not in the catastrophic way that Chernobyl did.

check the Maddow link above. She's on the right vein and confirm my sources and speculations.
  24. Anonymous Member

Yeah i know. And like you've said before Chernobyl is a different animal that dai-ichi. but i bet those people back then said and though the same exact things we're thinking and saying right now and look where they are, nearly 30 years later and Chernobyl and Pripyat are still desolate wastelands with moderately high radiation levels. 2nd and even 3rd generations of people are being born sick or with gene defects. Even if nothing happens to the USA.
(And i know all that jazz about our tech being more advance and yadda yadda yadda) It's still is a horrifying prospect.

i have yet to find stuff that is not alarmist or complete and utter bullshit except for that Rachel Maddow article someone posted on here.

but srly, there has been no massive radiation leak, endangering the U.S. This would only be dangerous if the actual core fuel rods had a catastrophic explosion sending massive amounts of radioactive particulates (i.e. dust) high into the atmosphere. This has not happened and is not likely to happen. Also called a remote but non-zero chance).

If memory serves, and isn't failing, it's known as a "media frenzy." When frenzy hits, I stay frosty. Oregon's nice. I like Oregon. Greetings from British Columbia, where it is kinda frosty this morning.

meh, everyone can afford a garden hose amirite?
Since Hubbard said you an get rid of radiation with a garden hose, everything will be fine

    Troll Science

Hang bags of microwave popcorn on your house.
When they start popping, you know you're fucked.
On the plus side, though, you will have lots of popcorn.
