Re: Questions about Scientology? Terril, do you get paid to recruit people into the Freezone? What does KSW mean to you--if your conscience does sometimes conflict with your beliefs, how can you resolve that? A lot of people have raised questions in this thread about the dangers of auditing. Has any of it caused you to reconsider your views or practices? Why did you start this thread?
Re: Questions about Scientology? This picture is the most intense case of wtf I've ever seen. Metapsychology and Scientology HATE eachother. I know a metapsychologist who has been protesting the CoS for years. WTFFF is going on here???? Now NOI and Scientology front group and Metapsychology are all getting along and giving each other certificates??? It doesn't even begin to make sense. Anybody can explain this??
Re: Questions about Scientology? The only ones offering OT9 are "Ron's Org"...the guys who are really into space opera. When I was FZ, I wasn't RO. I'm happy to know that you've done OTIX and are happy with it. Your comment in the second paragraph is a fun set of analogies, comparisons, conspiracy think and so on but doesn't correspond to anything the cult is doing with respect to heretics and spin offs.
Re: Questions about Scientology? I'm saying the top of CoS is about power not doctrine. That seems the most parsimonious explanation for things like the marriage between Scientology and the NOI, the "baptist" minister Alfreddie Johnson, and the Intelligence Bureau's actions on behalf of the Unification Church (below). Re: Questions about Scientology? Its DISSOCIATION, Voltaires Child, not Disassociation. And there's a lot more to it technically than the term Out of Valence, but the basic concept is the same. Its a good read and I think you'll find the info fascinating and far more informative than anything you've ever read in Scientology. Here, have a look: Dissociation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ?? wtf does Buddhism have to do with any of this?
Re: Questions about Scientology? Just so people know, Terril has indicated that he may not be posting any more responses in this thread, at least at this time. I invited him to stop by in the future if he wants to in case people post more questions.
Re: Questions about Scientology? Thanks, Miranda. TO Voltaire's Child: Suggest you also read about "Splitting" (related link on bottom of Wikipedia description of Dissociation). It explains a lot of the behaviour of Scientologists, including one on this Board. "Splitting" can often be a solution/reaction to cognitive dissonance. The use of TRs when dealing with cognitive dissonance encourages splitting, rather than addressing and resolving the actual conflict of facts that causes the dissonance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Splitting_(psychology) Cognitive dissonance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Nothing to do with Buddhism, mate. Buddhism emphasizes the whole. Scientology is the opposite philosophy to Buddhism, as it emphasizes getting "rid of" bad elements (fictitious bad elements at that) in order to cure one's self. I see no relation between the two philosophies, other than both believe in past lives. Similarities end there.
Re: Questions about Scientology? Ok, good to have the clarification between disassociation and dissociation. As far as splitting goes, I think that the inability to recognize and deal with dichotomies and, thus, have a splitting phenomenon to any degree is probably relatively common in CofS. Coincidentally, I also saw quite a bit of that same problem amongst the most rabid critics I met. People in these two categories need a lot more help with addressing this issue than any FreeZoner would, IMO.
Re: Questions about Scientology? By the way, the answer to your question above is, no, he doesn't get any money for this. The reason I know this is that this question has been asked of Terril many many times before. And anyway, Terril's not here on this thread right now, so I figure wtf. And while I'm at it, my experience with Terril (I've had a lot of conversations with him. He's a friend of the family) -things he discussed with me and books he showed me- I saw that he's mellow about other belief systems and philosophies and reads about them. So I really don't think he's all that much of a KSW type. He's pretty mellow about people doing their own thing and taking a completely different path from his. He's recommended books and websites to me that had nothing to do with Scn.
Re: Questions about Scientology? I've heard rumors that he may be somewhat dead for the last two years. World Literacy Crusade is fronted by Alfreddie Johnson in Compton.
