We had our signs propped up on some trees near us. The protest had being going on for a couple of hours and generally things were very civil. All of a sudden one of us notice Vicky Boyce, the head of the local Scientology org, heading down the street with a bunch of our signs under her arm!

Stu and Steve went in to immediate pursuit. They followed her through Plymouth City center and through our main shopping mall and all the way back to the org with Stu videoing and shouting "Vicky Boyce, head of scientology, is a thief, she has stolen our protest signs!" Epic footage will be posted but you will have to wait for Stu as there is a lot of it. Heck it caught a lot of attention and might even make the local news, those 30 second slots for whacked stuff that happened over the weekend.

Vicky also assulted Stu on film and it is understood he could press civil charges however he says he was not actually harmed and so will not waste the courts time; it may well be included in the footage too. There is a 3 year limit on reporting such things I believe so Vicky would do well to bear this in mind when making petty complaints.

2 of the signs were laminated ones which cost me £5 each to make, meaning technically Vicky had committed petty theft. I believe Stu popped in to the local station to report the matter and the police came out to the org pretty sharpish; where both Steve and Stu were making it clear that they wanted the signs back that Vicky had stolen. Vicky was smiling and laughing about it until the officer spoke with her. We don't know what was said but she returned the signs and stopped smiling.

In other news Ralph (Rockability) Angel's mum turned up early in the day to have a go and provide us with amusing footage of her doing the usual rants about why can't we do something positive and "I've been a scientologist for 40 years and that proves it works" line. It got in to a bit of a shouting match but not much to write home about. Foolish woman doesn't understand that it is the organisation not the beliefs or practices we are protesting against. The organisation that sends them tonnes of books to sell and invoices them regardless of if they can sell them. The org.. ok we all know.

A nice young (very young, or maybe I am old) policeman turned up towards the end of the day as "someone" had called to say they were feeling a bit intimidated by our fliers. To be fair there was only 1 scilon by that point as the rest had returned to the org after the Vicky incident. (VICKYGATE) and he was kinda trapped there as they'd left him too much to carry and no one seemed to be coming to pick him up - they left him another 2 hours or more on his own. Any how, the policeman said we were doing ok, we had a nice chat and explained what we were about and I showed him the relevant laws.

All in all an epic day. Which was great as we had a visitor who'd flown in from Ireland and we were worried the cart would not be out and he'd get bored with us just being around the org. Having met him, he's a great guy and we all get along so boredem wouldn't have been an issue.

Vickygate might make the local news, there is certainly a shed load of footage to show that is very lulz worthy. The air was charged with the smell of footbullet. :mrgreen:

Its great.... Vicky gets a right telling off (I believe) by the police. You can see how stressed she is throughout....

.... its a sign guys! Its a sign (along with Carmichael et al) that the cult is truly crumbling.

Oh I don't know, you guys have all the main scilon stars as well as Bunky and Tory etc. Tommy G is also truely excellent. But we make the best of what we've got! It's a British thing :grin:

i wish you would press charges, it proves what weve been saying about fair game. sorry my blood is steaming after hearing this. at the very least get a restraining order, in doing so you will be able to keep her away from the protests big time, like a magic sheild. if she comes within 10 yards she can be arrested on the spot.
if you have video of stu being assaulted by one of these fiends make a complaint.
not taking action only serves to reinforce their attitude that we can be bullied this way, start giving inch's and they will wind up taking a mile.
they will interpret "getting away with it" as natural and normal.

i would burn off a dvd with the assault footage and add some youtube vids of the global protests, Anonymous is protesting all over the Whole Wide World, why should you be singled out for assault even a minor one get copies of the dvd to police and media outlets

Re: charges, no, I'm not interested... I would have to go through a solicitor (£££) and take it up through the civil courts. I was not hurt, and I got the signs back. The result is amazing footbulletage... Youtube is the judge, jury and hangman in this one I'm afraid.

If I was hurt, or she damaged my camcorder, or if she destroyed the signs - well, that would obviously be a different story.

Part two of the video is post-import rendering. Damn, this is slow.

Heh! You guys are doing the right thing, whatever you get out of the courts would be a fraction of the headaches of just getting the word out. YouTube is killing them. (In a metaphorical sense, "killing" meaning harming the "business" of Scientology, not in any way harming a person which I do not condone. And not just because the scilons would at the drop of a hat. I don't understand the reluctance. Its building a record to show a pattern to protect yourself.

The video will be our witness and the people who watch it will judge. The damage to their PR is far greater than doing a small, almost petty, claim for common assult. I doubt they will see the resulting fall out as "getting away with it". We hope the news media will take some interest in this. It might be somewhat lulzy and so may get coverage that way.

The police in our area certainly know what happened, that Vicky Boyce committed an act of petty theft and an act of common assult, which while minor beans are reprehensible and do not endear the scilons to the police.

Im just waiting for import rendering to complete... It'll take an hour or so to edit down properly - then post render... then upload... then youtube processing....then SLEEEEEP.....

There is no way I could leave you guys in the lurch by waiting til tomorrow to upload. What do you think I am? A Scientologist? I could never be that cruel to you.

I am having serious computer probs. My laptop (2yr old overused refurb P4 3.2Ghz) is on its way out, and its getting increasingly hard to get the videos out without punching the hell out of it (physically - it unlocks it when it freezes).... so if anyone has some PC/MAC hardware kicking around that they would be willing to lend so that I can do a better job with all this footage, please get in contact.

I now have 20 hours or so of footage that I'd love to be able to edit without crashes... and produce a really indepth 1-2 hour documentary on the cult.... There is so much unseen footage - lots of chats with the Sci's from early on... chats with members of the public etc.

Anyway - if any UK person thinks they can help, then please drop me a PM.

Dude, they did go to the cops, they're just not pressing charges, and it's all on tape. It's been reported, the cops did talk to her, and they got the signs back. Stu's right, if nothing of value was lost, pressing charges is just a waste of time all around

As per, it was reported to the police, the police always note such incidents even if nothing is followed up by charges etc. The police here know what happened. The scilons made themselves look idiots and we didn't waste any more time than necessary with frivolous claims. The signs were returned so no harm to foul and the assult was common assult which is more of a civil matter.

A police report costs nothing. The laws against assault are there for a reason. A person's right to be secure from non consensual touching is one of our most important rights.
A police report. They decide whether to bring charges.
