Story is sketchy, but details are now spilling out as I type. A shooting took place today at Fowler Software in Thorton, a suburb of Denver Colorado. Looks like Rex Fowler a Denver Scientologist (and OTVIII) [moderator note: We only know that he is at least OT VII, proof of OT VIII status not posted yet.] shot an ex-employee before shooting himself. One guy is dead and Folwer in critical condition.

The Fowler software company is known to employ several Scientologist and is considered a "Scientology business." The dead guy is believed to be a disgruntled worker.

    The news story is here:
    9NEWS.com | Denver | Colorado's Online News Leader | 1 dead, 1 in critical condition in shooting

The fowler software website is here:

[COLOR="DarkRed"][moderator note: The site was taken down and some information was removed from it before it was put back up again][/COLOR]

Rex Fowler's known completions are here:
Rex Fowler - Scientology Service Completions | Truth About Scientology Statistics Project

This could be a HUGE footbullet and PR disaster for the cult and I bet we can count on Scientology playing a huge role in whatever caused the dispute that lead to the shooting.

[mod]Please read the following, which is the state of knowledge as at post #1119 of this thread - together with updates from thence forward.

And please remember that we're in investigative mode. That means many facts are still unknown, and we are still gathering information.[/mod]

    FEDERAL HEIGHTS, Colo. —
Investigators say it now appears a man found dead in an office building where a software company founder also was shot was a homicide victim, not the suspected gunman.

Adams County sheriff's officials say 42-year-old Thomas Ciancio of Castle Rock and 58-year-old Rex Fowler were shot in the head Wednesday. County Coroner James Hibbard said Thursday that Ciancio died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head. Fowler is hospitalized.

Hibbard says it appears Ciancio's death was a homicide. Sheriff's spokeswoman Candi Baker says a suspect hasn't been named, but no one else is believed to be involved in the shootings. Investigators haven't said publicly what they think happened.

Fowler founded Fowler Software Design, where Ciancio was the former chief operating officer.

Where have I seen Laura Zaspel - CEO at Folwer's company - before? I could swear she's been featured in some Scifag propaganda materials. Maybe even that new video about ideal orgs, but more likely some print shit. Now its driving me crazy but I've looked as so much of their craptastic promos over the last 6 months I couldn't begin to guess which piece I've seen her in.

Yes, Rex did shot a guy three times in the skull.. and yes, Rex did end up in the hospital in critical care with one bullet in his head.

We don't know who brought the gun. It is hypothetically possible it was self defense (ie. Rex was shot first). So, I think it's early to jump the gun on the murder-suicide thing... But in all reality that is liekly what happened.

I wonder if Thomas Ciancio had spoken to any lawyers recently about a lawsuit. Also, I don't see in reference to Thomas Ciancio being associated with Scientology beyond employment at Fowler's company. At 22 years old, he probably would not be in any of our current databases.

Keeping my eyes open for more details. This definitely won't be a good start to a new year for the cult.

I'm sorry to say this, but this story has legs, no matter who fired the gun. I think this has good digg potential, with maybe a headline like "Scientologist involved in gunshot. One man killed, another in critical condition."

We've got to spread this. It does have potential for waking up current scilons. I mean, an OT VIII shoots somebody and tries to commit suicide? That's the highest level on $cientology?

    Insane, tragic, awful, and familiar.

Can't wait to hear more details as they come out.

Can't wait to see how Scientology Myths handles this one.

I also wonder how long it will be before Fowler's scieno webpage is taken down.

The emperor has no clothes and Scientology is nothing but a pack of cards.

This sort of thing has happened before and Scientology went to great lengths to rewrite the story. They are more concerned about their image than the actual people involved.

And no, I don't feel like I am some hypocrite exploiting this awful event because this shit has happened before and may even occur again, sadly enough.
