Ottawa November 2010 planning There will be a protest/raid against Scientology this Saturday in Ottawa in front of the Scientology org on Rideau on the other side of the street (in front of the Desjardins bank). -The protest will start at 11h00 PM and end around 2h00 PM. -David Love is coming from Montreal and will be present. Come to show some support and bring /b/lackup! -Also bring flyers and signs, there will be a certain number of flyers available tho (but please bring some moar yourself). ------------------------------------- So, who is up for a raid on the 13th of November? I want to know if anyone will show up so that I am not wasting the city's time getting a permit (though the fail was mostly mine for not getting the word out to you guys in time).
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning We technically don't. But it doesn't hurt to let the police know what's going on. We have had some issues in the past with raids and police. Nothing major, but having the permit helps with the situations if one arises. I'll do my best to be there.
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning I will check the bus schedules to see if I can go there and be back home the same day. Have lots of work to do, but I can do some on my laptop while on the bus. We'll see.
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning Shadow is from Ottawa isn't he? I wonder if he will be there? If I'm going, I'll confirm before Monday evening.
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning Does two specific things. First, it guarantees us the use of the space across the street from the Cult. Second, it raises the decibel limit on the noise we can make. Without that limit increase, we could not use the megaphone or the stereo.
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning Where did you guys get your Fawkes masks? Every where I go they're sold out.
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning Or down that same road The Comicbook Shoppe? That's where I got mine. If you still have no luck, there's always Audrey's Costume Castle you could try.
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning Thanks, I did try malabar, they said they were all out and that there supplier would take about a month to ship it to them. Ill try the comic book shop, i never would have thought to look there. Is this it? 1400 Clyde Ave. (Merivale Rd. @ Clyde Ave.) Thanks again
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning If I come, I would arrive at 9:27am in Ottawa by Via Rail. How far is the train station from the ORG? Would be returning to Montreal later that afternoon after protest.
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning There are two train station places in Ottawa. Which one would I get off at to be close to the ORG? Looks like I'm going May have another Ex-Narconon victim join us. Was just talking to them a few minutes ago
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning I'm far from the expert on trains in Ottawa, since the last time I was on a train was when I was four, but this is what I came up with, thanks to Google Maps. Ottawa Train Station to 150 Rideau St, Ottawa, ON - Google Maps We generally meet at Ottawa U campus before the protest, then walk from there. (This is the best I can do for the three locations. Sorry.) Ottawa Train Station to Laurier Ave E/Regional Road 48 - Google Maps Location on Ottawa U Campus - Meetings - OttawaLulz Another good link to go by (just change the date to this Saturday and it's pretty much it) October 16th, 2010 - OttawaLulz
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning Is this still the address of the ORG: 150 Rideau Street, Ottawa and, which train station would I book my ticket to that's closest to the ORG address? Downtown - Tremblay Road Station or Barrhaven Followfield Station ?
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning Thanks! Hope to figure it out by Wed night or Thursday, so I can buy my ticket. They have Wi-Fi on board the train, so it will work out well for me.
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning Tremblay is much closer to the Org. Barrhaven is out in the west end, (http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=d&sour...744553&spn=0.270911,0.652313&t=h&z=11&iwloc=A) but on the upside to that, has a direct bus route to the downtown core and the Rideau Centre (95 Oleans)
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning I'm in Look forward to being there. Is anyone bringing any signs? I am travelling light and won't have any.
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning I'll see what I can do. The last protest was pathetic in regards to signage.
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning Last protest in Sept I think we had 9 (?). Which is the most we've had for a long time. I'm hoping we have at least 5, but that might just be me being optimistic.
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning Shit, at least 2 from Montroll would have joined you, but 13th is a no-go Please go over some of our videos from the past 12 months or so, we have some examples of good catchy signs you could use. Keep it simple and short, with bold blocky letters, colors are good but avoid thin letters in red, they're not legible. No TL;DR.
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning LOL,...Ok, "KISS" > Keep It Simple Stupid - just in case the COS staff read it
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning Good to see that we have some turnout this time. I have the permit squared away, so everything is good on my end. Except the lack of sleep I'll have to deal with, anyway. I'll see about getting some flyers printed up today or tomorrow.
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning this is the church's adresses 203-150 Rideau Street Ottawa, ON K1N 5X6
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning Tx. I will arrive in Ottawa at 9:37am and only an 11 minute cab ride to org. Have lots of time to spare. I don't know Ottawa, so there a store near the org where I can buy large sign paper/cardboard and markers?
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning theres this one craft stores near - Google Maps and if not theres plenty of tattoo parlours to kill time lol
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning Markers you could get at either the dollar store or Grand & Toy, both in the Rideau mall. As for large sign cardboard, we had that problem in Sept. Neither of those stores carry bristol board. I'm going to see if I can get some tomorrow night, but I don't know when I'll be near a store that has them.
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning I may be able to hit up a Staples today to pick some bristol board up. It depends on what the flyers cost.
Re: Ottawa November 2010 planning All right, I have 3 sheets of bristol board, a Sharpie magnum, and a document tube. Somewhat less fail should occur this time. Also, 1000 flyers I'm going to pick up shortly.
