Group Lines Road To Protest Church Of Scientology

    POSTED: 10:32 am EST February 3, 2008
    UPDATED: 12:18 pm EST February 3, 2008
ORLANDO, Fla. -- A group of 100 people lined an Orlando road over the weekend, claiming the Church of Scientology is a dangerous cult.

The group of protestors waved signs along East Colonial Drive and said the church is responsible for crimes and even deaths, Local 6 reported.

Local 6 received dozens of phone calls about the event.

Saturday night, the Church of Scientology of Orlando issued a statement thanking the Orlando police for their support during the protest.

The statement from Dr. Lee Sheldon of the Church of Scientology of Orlando said, "While we recognize the right to legal protest, when such protest escalates to spreading lies and hate speech, it is a concern for everyone. We look forward to continuing to provide service to the city of Orlando and Central Florida."

    Anti-Scientology group has protest rally

    February 3, 2008

ORLANDO - About 100 people gathered outside the Church of Scientology Center at 1830 E. Colonial Drive Saturday afternoon, protesting the religious organization's practices.

Police were there to monitor the demonstration but made no arrests.

The protesters carried signs with messages such as "Knowledge is Free" and "Honk if you hate Scientology."

The demonstration is part of a worldwide campaign by a group that calls itself Anonymous.

According to an organizer of the rally, who would not give his name, the group is protesting what he called "a gross violation of the right to see free church material," after a leaked video of actor Tom Cruise openly talking about his beliefs was pulled from YouTube in January at the request of the Church of Scientology.

A synchronized protest by Anonymous in front of Scientology centers worldwide is expected to take place Feb. 10.

If spreading of lies and hate speach occurs, let us know.

Until/unless that happens, the crimes of the corporation of scientology are a concern to everyone.

EDIT: oops, "Xenu eats Babies" might be untrue.

meanwhile, the crimes of the corporation of scientology are STILL of concern to everyone.
