Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP Thanks much. I didn't intend to offend anyone or infer anything was wrong with Anonymous or WWP. And yes, there is more to it. To clarify - unlike many others, my identity is not anonymous - my testimonies are public. There is a lot going on locally and I already have plenty of enemies in the C of S. My personal details are known to them. Protesting Scn takes up more time than I have already and it is intense, I can't reasonably take on more causes. That is not to say the other causes aren't extremely important - freedom of speech is top priority. I hope you can understand my wanting to protect the testimonies and somewhat sensitive projects I'm involved in against the abuses of Scilon. One of these involves a vulnerable family member. Too many protestors have been wrongfully taken to court recently by the C of S for simply telling the truth and asking for justice. I am sorry if I sounded like I was grandstanding - my statement was more for OSA than you guys. I am sure they have all my posts here. It's no big deal. Really. I'll post again when the dust settles. No need for anyone to take offense. Just lurking meanwhile. Thanks.
Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP The NYT isnt actually helping much. The Guardian and Der Speigal is doing most of the work. I can work that in more.
Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP Sorry to re-state someone elses point, but I also think this is really important. It proves the level of responsibility felt by WL is greater than the image portrayed by it's silencers.
Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP He is also accused of having sex with a woman while she was asleep. There's also an accusation that he pinned the other woman down while fucking her in a way that she couldn't move. Although I don't see how that can be considered illegal unless she said, "stop doing that," and he refused.

Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP Glenn Beck's research has been pretty through as far as this subject goes. Do you like his conclusions? Probably not. But at least he isn't running around screaming rape rape rape. Glenn seems to be torn on the whole subject of Wikileaks and/or Julian but you'll ignore that because it doesn't fit your narrow point of view. He loves the idea of free speech. Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP I'm enjoying how the media keeps trying to apply logic, motives and goals to Anonymous. Didn't they get the memo that we do things for the two reasons of "the lulz" and "preserving an environment where we can have the lulz"? (translates to fun and freedom of the internet as it is)
Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP Have you been paying attention? Nobody is really talking about "the lulz" anymore (thank god).

Its Biella...an academic trying hard to understand anonymous culture, nice to read her current take on it. Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP Okay, I have the real story about Julian Assange. He Eiffel Towered the two women with Rocco Siffredi.
Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP Is it just me, or did the NY Times rewrite the article and change the title I can't seem to find the link anymore. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/10/world/10wiki.html
Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP Link still works for me...but either it's a drastically different article on the same subject or I'm not properly remembering which article was the NYT one.
Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP The misanthropic is defiantly an uninhibited region of the ductwork. I guess it depend on where you're visiting to measure. Egocentric might be a more broader way to describe many of the anonymous mannerisms. Somewhat of a rejection of the first principle of morality.
Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP YES. DO IT FAGGOT. ... Anyway, what we really need to do is take an example from #V and take over a news station and let the people know the truth.
Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP Say what you will, but coldblooded? That doesn't even pass the smell test. From what I've seen in the various fora and news reports, there was nothing "coldblooded" about the DDoS attacks. Coldblooded actions are actions done without or with minimal emotion. Even the idiots at the Times can't believe this was the result of anything less than nerd rage. Rage is an emotion, and a very powerful one. A responsible journalist would ask themselves and those involved exactly why they were angry. That said, there was minimal financial harm done to the various companies targeted. I would liken this to one of the sit-ins during the Civil Rights era, rather than the "nuclear option" some would call a DDoS. It's a way to get one's point across in a very public and loud manner without causing damage. For those dumb enough to do so without shielding their IP from their home address, well, they're fucking idiots. While I do not and would not condone illegal activities and would suggest people not break the law unless they are willing to face the consequences, I can think of a few ways to do so off the top of my head without getting traced, almost all of which I'm too broke to do or would not be reliable enough for a sustained attack. To stay on the good side of the Mods, I won't share any of them.

Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP Stealing email addresses and passwords from the media would seem like something the govt would do. This is not something that seems very much like anonymousness. You have thoughts?
Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP I noticed that too. Here's a link to the article - http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/09/world/09wiki.html?_r=1
Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP I emailed the author of the article (the one who isn't Ravi) and told him that WWP doesn't condone illegal activities and that many people engaging in the current DDoS's hate this place as much as their other targets. The email was much longer and used some bigger words but that was the general idea. Not too dramatic, just emphasizing that it may not be good for the site (in legal and PR terms) to be unfairly connected to the attacks. He replied: "Thank you for this detailed and thoughtful message. The cyber world is not my natural territory journalistically, so I'll pass it on to others at the paper who understand it all better. We certainly have no wish to mix up apples and oranges here." Will anything change? Not sure. Just thought I'd share.
Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP You launched a golden harpoon. Well done. Good to educate those who don't know cyberspace as well as some of us might.
Re: NY Times Links Cyberattacks Directly to WWP I haven't read the NYT Sunday article but I believe the headline refers to a UK anon named "Coldblood" recently quoted in a Telegraph.uk article, not using the word 'coldblooded' as an adjective.
