Can't translate it all now, but Kaja Bordevich Ballo (20) scored very low on the personality test, went home to her student dorm and jumped out of a window.

She had had eating disorders and other mental health problems earlier.

Her father is a well-known politician, specialising in health issues. He wants to go after the Co$. Calls them a sect in the papers.

This makes me so mad. Insensitive people who care mostly about money and their own stats putting people through a personality test and then assessing them as if they know what they're doin!. Bastards. A psychologist would have been alert to the girl's mental state and very careful about how anything was said and why.
  8. Re: Norway: MP's daughter commit suicide after $ci personality test

That's horrible! This clearly demonstrates the differences and goals between real psychological treatment and scientology.

Much love and support to all who knew her!

What is the point of the goddamn stress tests if they can't see that somebody is about to commit suicide and help them?
    /stupid question.

I feel bad for her family. But I also hope they go after Co$. Maybe more suicides can be avoided.

I never thought I would say this but ... Scientology can't catch a break, can it?

Not that I WANT it to, but still.

you know they were probably like...ooo the needle jumped while you held the soup cans...you are depressed and unhappy and need scientology to fix you

    Verdens Gang:
A little over two weeks ago Kaja Bordevich Ballo (20) committed suicide - a few hours after she'd recieved a devastating result on a personality test administrated by the Church of Scientology.

The police in the southern French town of Nice - where Kaja studied at the university of Nice Sophia Antipolis - are investigating the controversial church's connection to the event.

Kajas father is the noted politician Olav Gunnar Ballo (SV), a member of parliament for years, vice president of Odelstinget and fearless healthcare spokesperson for his party. Maried to Ballo and mother of Kaja is Heidi Sørensen (SV). Sørensen has previously been the leader of Naturvernforbundet and a member of parliament, she is now a undersecretary of state at Miljøverndepartementet.

The news VG publishes today, are printed after agreement with Ballo himself, and the rest of Kaja's family.

    - The information about the Scientology test has been made public through the priest's speech at the memorial service. I can confirm that. Due to the recency of her death, I don't wish to elaborate on or comment on other matters now, Olav Gunnar Ballo told VG.

Kaja died on March 28, and was buried at Grefsen church last friday. A large group of friends followed her to the grave. Many were also in support during a memorial held in the Stortinget the same afternoon.

    Personality test
According to information VG has received, the connection to the Scientologists was made after the family found a completed personality test and the Church of Scientology's analysis of what they contend is her personality, in Kaja's 17 sqm student room after her death.

The test had been timestamped and dated: It had been taken the same day as her death. The Church of Scientology have their premises only a few meters from the student home where Kaja lived.

Henrik Møinichen (19), a fellow student of Kaja, tells VG that he walked with Kaja to the university and class at nine o'clock on friday the 28 of March.

    - In my opinion she was as usual. She participated in class as usual, talked and was happy, Møinichen told VG.

After the class in French for foreigners was over at 11 o'clock, Henrik left for the Nice airport to meet his father. Henrik lives in the neigboring room to Kaja. The last he heard of her, was that she was walking around her room at three-four o'clock in the afternoon. He was out of his room the rest of the day with his father.

As far as VG has been able to discern no friends or acquaintances had been in contact with the 20-year-old between the timestamp of the test, and the time at which she was found dead.

    Vulnerable spot
    - The test was found at her place by the family. After she was finished at school I've heard she went to buy clothes for someone. This is how she supposedly came in contact with the Church of Scientology, Møinichen says.

From what VG has been told Kaja received an extremely bad result on the test.

    - I have a feeling that something must have happened suddenly, that they hit a vulnerable spot. Personally I believe that Kaja had been alive today if she hadn't been in contact with the scientologists. I had the impression that she enjoyed Nice. She often spoke of the the future and her plans at the university, said Møinichen.

I think we should get one Anon to send the MP an e-mail saying they are sorry for his loss (not a flood of e-mails), but don't try and recruit him at all. Couldn't hurt, right?

This probably could have been prevented by something as simple as a strongly worded mandatory disclaimer regarding the utter bullshit that is the Sci personality test.
  16. Re: Norway: MP's daughter commit suicide after $ci personality test

    Damn.

    I mean...damn.

She must have been teetering on the brink, and then to have some random yahoo who wants her to sign up tell her "Oh, you're abysmal" must have sealed it.

I'm sure the Scilon didn't mean to do any harm, but there it is, and a woman is dead.

Another name on the list. Another family hurt.

This underlines the problem (well, one of them) that Scientology has: they are against psychiatry but they have nothing to replace it with. This is what happens when people who have been thoroughly trained to stare as a part of a "communication course" are put to positions they are unable to handle.

Let's see Scientology try handle this.

How much longer are they going to be allowed to practice medicine without a licence? That is exactly what they are doing but because they call it a 'personality test' and not a Psych test they get away with it.
THEY ARE PRACTISING MEDICINE WITHOUT ANY TRAINING. ILLEGALLY. NEEDS STOPPING.

I am an ex scifag and used to do the personality tests on new people. Hubbard instructs Scios to try to "cave" the person in when giving the tests results and telling them
    that Scientology can help them.

Obviously whoever read the results of her "personality test" to this girl, applied Hubbard's
tek and "caved her in". Since she was probably already depressed, it must have just
    sent her over the edge.

This link is an excellent and accurate write up of the test and how it's delievered

Re: Norway: MP's daughter commit suicide after $ci personality test

The scientologists in Nice got offended when confronted with the possibility that their "personality test" may have been a contributing factor. they claim it's a "tragic coincidence" that she took the test on the same day. (WRONG TIME to play the victim card!)

CO$ in Norway and Matthias Fosse were "conveniently" unavailable for comment

Kaja was hospitalized twice battling an eating disorder, when she was 13 and the year later.

Apparently she got -100 on her personality test.

Her father is a doctor, an MP and vice president of the Odelsting ("lower house").

This could get really nasty for CO$ in Norway.

I seem to have accidentally deleted my earlier post.

I hope Norwegian Anons will provide this information to the police investigating Kaja's death. They need to know that it is policy to pressure the person doing the test by making them feel that they need help - that things in their life aren't right. Also, there are ex-scientologists who can fill in the picture for them.

^SECONDED. Immediate picket by NiceAnons, please!

What angers me is that they deliberately set out with these "tests" to TRY and make you feel horrible about your life, just to recruit you. No one gets a happy result EVER. No matter how well-adjusted you are, they always tell you you're fucked up, just to make you feel vulnerable and to get you to a state where you'll be more accepting of their nonsense. And to do that to a girl who was very depressed is practically murder in my book. Maybe they didn't realize she was so unhappy, maybe they did. But to tear up someone's life in front of their eyes and call them low or subhuman or truly mentally fucked up, just to sell them your shitty religious books, is WRONG WRONG WRONG. I want to say this will hopefully be the last incident of suicide because of CoS, but I feel like that's just not true.

    «Ville vært i live i dag hvis hun ikke hadde gått til scientologene» - Innenriks - Dagbladet.no
    Headline:
"Had been alive today if she hadn't gone to the scientologists"

Kaja the daughter of leading SV member Olav Gunnar Ballo only lived to the age of 20.

    - Everything indicates that the cult of scientology has played a direct part in Kaja's choice to take her on life, according to member of parliament Inga Marte Thorkildsen. She met Kaja Bordevich Ballo for the first time when she visited Stortinget [the Norwegian parliament] with her father Olav Gunnar Ballo. Thorkildsen later attended the same dance class as her.

    - I believe Kaja had been alive today if she hadn't gone to the scientologists, says Henrik Møinichen (19), a close friend and classmate of Kaja's. He saw her for the last time on the morning of the day she took her own life.

Both have chosen to speak with Dagbladet in understanding with Olav Gunnar Ballo. He and Kaja's mother have also agreed to Dagbladet publishing the matter.

    - I feel that it's too early and too close to speak of what happened, Ballo told Dagbladet. He has now returned to his duties as SV's representative on the healthcare and welfare committe and as vice-president of Odelstinget [the lower house of parliament].

    200 questions
Last Wednesday he informed SV's parliament group of his daughter's death and its cause. Two days later the family held a memorial service after the funeral in the parliament.

Friday March 28 Kaja attended the 9 to 11-lecture at the University of Nice together with Henrik. Then she went shopping.

    - She behaved as usual, says Henrik Møinichen who also lives in the same dormitory as Kaja.

Next to the dormitory lies "L’eglise de scientologie - Mission de Nice" where the Church of Scientology advertises stress tests. She entered those doors, probably around one o'clock, and took the so-called Oxford-test which asks 200 questions, among others: Do you browse through railway timetables, directories or dictionaries just for pleasure? Is your voice monotonous, rather than varied in pitch?

This is the same test scientology cults the world over has used for years to recruit members. Psychologists have dismissed them for just as long. From the answers the scientologists say where you are on a scale from plus one-hundred to minus one-hundred for a number of conditions, among others reliability and responsibility.

Kaja recieved minus one-hundred on one, and was declared unstable. In addition she was obviously heavily depressed, irresponsible, overly critical and disharmonious.

The young student returned home. A few hours later Kaja jumped from her window on the fourth floor of the dormitory. In a bag in the apartment with her newly-purchased pants lay the chart with the disheartening conclusions and a note where she asked forgiveness for being unable to accomplish anything.

    - The conclusion was that she was incapable of doing anything with her life. That's as far from the truth as you can get. She'd really managed to change her life in an enormously respectable way. She had a bunch of friends, was incredibly outward and intelligent, says Inga Marte Thorkildsen.

When Kaja was 13 years old, she was admitted to the university hospital in Tromsø due to a serious eating disorder. She had moved the following year, autumn 2002, to Oslo together with her father. She was then admitted to the pediatric center at Ullevål university hospital for the same condition. She was discharged in January 2003. The healthcare politician Ballo, with permssion from Kaja, spoke openly about the family's experiences to gain attention and resources to the treatment of others in the same situation. In later years she has been completely healthy.

    - When I met her the first time, she was very ill. When I met her again a few years ago, at dancing class, I didn't recognize her. She was an incredibly outgoing and healthy girl who was happy with life and herself. An outstanding, happy and fun lady, Thorkildsen said.

    Spoke of the future
Her classmate Henrik got to know her in the third grade at Oslo Cathedral School. After high school they went together to attend the University of Nice last fall.

    - She was well-liked by everybody and was doing well in studies and everything. I saw no signs that anything like this could happen. We talked a lot about the future, all the way up to the last moment. Therefore it came as a great shock to us all that she took her own life, said Henrik Møinichen.

During the funeral last friday the parish minister Grete Hauge spoke to the full rows of Grefsen church about the circumstances surrounding Kaja's death.

    Chock and disbelief
    - Kaja was at the Church of Scientology and took a test shortly before she died the same day, Hauge confirmed to Dagbladet.

Around five hundred persons participated in the funeral, among others minister of finance Kristin Halvorsen and KrF party leader Dagfinn Høybråten.

    - We viewed pictures from Kaja's life, spoke to friends, the family and teachers. They were all in chock because they'd perceived Kaja as healthy and enjoying life. No-one understood how it could happen, says Inga Marte Thorkildsen.

    - Do you believe the meeting with the scientologists had a direct influence on her tragic choice?

    - I don't know the complete picture, but everything indicates that the cult of scientology has played a direct part in Kaja choosing to take her own life. She must have been completely devastated by the test. I can imagine that some of these extreme groups target people they see are vulnerable. They interpret the answers in the worst possible way and then they reach out a hand and say they can help you. The motive is to recruit and make money, Thorkildsen said.

Olav Gunnar Ballo has hired lawyer Stein Serradj to follow the police investigations in the French Mediterranean town.

    - The police are investigating the circumstances around the death, among other things whether the visit at the scientologists was a contributing cause. We will wait for the results of the preliminary investigations before we decide how to proceed with the matter. There may be cause for a lawsuit against the Church of Scientology, Serradj told Dagbladet.

    Only a coincidence?
Last afternoon, Dagbladet called the Church of Scientology in Nice.

    - We read about the matter in the local papers and know that she was here. She wanted help dealing with stress and took the test, confirms Caroline. She did not wish to state her surname, but says she's the boss of the "church".

    - How do you react to accusations that you are directly responsible for her suicide?

    - How can anyone say such a thing? Between two and three thousand people take these tests every day all over the world. No-one has ever commited suicide because of them.

    - Are you saying that it's merely a coincidence that she took her own life only hours after receiving the discouraging results?

    - Yes, it's a tragic coincidence, says Caroline. She denies that the police have asked them any questions.

    -----------------------

    The test and the slaughter

The scientologists so-called personality test has received massive criticism over the years, but they claim the critics know too little.

The controversial personality test Oxford Capacity Analysis (OCA) is for many people their first meeting with the Church of Scientology. With 200 its questions the scientologists try to attract new members. Critics claim the scientologists want to try to pressure you into taking various courses to improve yourself, regardless of your test score. This among other ways how the church makes money.

    Bad regardless
Psychologists, journalists and many others have out of curiosity had themselves tested with the experience that the test result is invariably negative. Critics claim the OCA-test is purposely designed to trouble and depress those who are tested.

A journalist from the Daily Express newspaper wrote that after her test results had been analyzed she felt like crawling into a ball and never leaving the house again.

    - Apparently I was depressed, unstable, overly critical, troubled and repressed, the journalist said afterwards.

    200 questions
The test consists of 200 questions that may be answered with a "yes", "no" or "maybe". A computer program is then used to plot the results on a so-called personality profile chart. The test subject is characterized on among other things, stability, happiness, calm, activity, aggressiveness and responsibility.
The scale ranges from +100 to -100.

Scientologists claim that this is a professional test that uses 200 carefully chosen questions to reach the bottom of your personality. The test shows your strong sides - so that you can exploit them- and your problem areas, "the things that block your true potential and happiness in life", from the international home-page of the church of Scientology.

Secretary of information Matthias Fosse at the Church of Scientology in Oslo has earlier told Dagbladet that people who criticise them as a rule know too little.

    - The critics don't speak of the positive things we do.

Dagbladet was unable to contact Fosse yesterday evening.

    Unethical and dangerous
The critics claim the standards of evaluation on the personality test are reprehensible. The Swedish professor of psychology Gudmund Smith at Lund University concluded in 1981 that the test was untrustworthy and in his view unethical. The Lund professor butchered the questions as being obviously leading, unclearly stated and ambiguous, in his opinion. Smith's evaluation was done on request of the local district attorney who at that time was investigating a local chapter of Narconon, which originates from the Church of Scientology.

The Australian Association of Psychologists, among others has labelled the OCA-test as "directly dangerous". It does not provide the basis for making the conclusions that are made, the society alleges.

Already in 1970, their British colleagues had gone even farther in butchering the method and describing it as dangerous. No recognized psychologist would accept a scheme based on picking people off the street, giving them a personality test and thereafter labelling them "inadequate", "unacceptable" or with "strong need of immediate follow-up", the British association of psychologists claimed.

[Whew.. long one.. no doubt some small mistakes in the text. Corrections welcome. Oh and I went with the literal translation of "butchering". "butchering" something in Norwegian is more or less to 'trash' it, or in this case 'utterly refute']
  38. Re: Norway: MP's daughter commit suicide after $ci personality test

Damn this is so sad. How can they think they are helping people when they try to make someone "cave" in? It really sickens me that they are allowed to do this disgusting sales tactic on vulnerable people and get away with it. How can they lack so much compassion? My heart goes out to the family. I hope they can find some sort of justice.

After all the happy news today this is a horrible reminder that we still have a long way to go .

Today, Kaja Bordevich Ballo was robbed of her young life by Scientology's fraud. I'll never forgive the cult, and I'll never forget.

This has to be brought to the attention of all scandinavian media. We might have a good chance of turning quite a few heads with this. Any Norwegian anons, please archive all translations to the Scandinavia Info Wiki. All scans as well.

Anonymous Norway should get in touch with this MP immediately and alert him to the impact Anonymous has had globally in just THREE MONTHS.

With his help we can make sure that, in one country at least, the cult can't commit acts like this. If the media pile on too, this horrible cult will be stopped dead in its tracks.

Anon, you know what to do.
