Northumbria Idle - make them pay rates!

I think the Scientologists are deliberately keeping their Northumbria Idle in a rather dilapidated condition (burnt out and with sheeting covering the holes in the roof) just so they have an excuse not to pay rates on the property. I personally think that they set fire to the building themselves to manoeuvre themselves into this favourable position. But this is revenue lost to the tax coffers that the British public must compensate for with higher taxes and reduced services. Why haven't they sold the building if they don't need it? Then the money for rates can flow in. This is a disgrace and everybody in Gateshead and British taxpayers the country over have to pay for this.

This is the web site for the local council:

    http://www.gateshead.gov.uk/

If you look at the Valuation Office web site then this property used to be Band G until 2006 when it then stopped being charged tax.

Council Tax band - this determines how much Council Tax you pay.

It was deleted from the VOA site in 2007 so it now does not have to pay tax:

It looks like nothing can be done:

    http://www.hinckley-bosworth.gov.uk...ates/612/business_rates_on_empty_properties/3

    Business rates on empty properties

    Unoccupied listed buildings

Any property is exempt from unoccupied rates if it is subject to building a preservation order or is registered as a listed building under Section 54 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1971.(This information can be obtained from the planning department).
The exemption from unoccupied rates can be held indefinitely, until the property becomes occupied again or is removed from the non-domestic local rating list due to severe deterioration or demolition.

what about pressure from the listed building peeps?

has ownership already transferred from org to Co$ (whichever branch controls real estate holdings)?
They can't claim they don't have money/assets to mortgage to cover the costs if they are the legal owners, even if Co$ expects org to finance it themselves
Some dox on the global holdings and standard practise (there are some threads detailing them) may help.
