One Million Voices for Iran Campaign The purpose of this campaign is to demand united global action against the human rights abuses perpetrated by the government of the Islamic Republic against its own people. We ask that you sign the petition, and the campaign is always is need of volunteers to fulfill any number of roles, including country and regional management, social media, translation, and connecting with members of the activist community. This petition calls for world governments to enact humanitarian sanctions against freedom of movement and overseas assets of individuals in the Iranian government, targeting them specifically in protest of their documented human rights abuses and demanding the release of all political prisoners, as originally issued by the United States of America. Additionally, it will demand from all potential sources of help the creation of a special court of human rights to prosecute the Islamic Republic’s leaders for their abuse of human rights as described by the Green Lawyers Movement, which stresses that this effort “relies on the efforts of every freedom-loving and justice-seeking individual.” We are fortunate to have the support of a growing number of committed human rights activists, including: Bianca Jagger, Council of Europe Goodwill Ambassador and founder of Bianca Jagger Human Rights Foundation; Professor of International Law at McGill University, Payam Akhavan, co-founder of the Iran Human Rights Documentation Centre, and former legal adviser to the prosecutor’s office of the international criminal tribunals at The Hague; official Ambassador for Youth for Human Rights as well as their Poet Laureate, Larry Jaffe; professional sculptor Paula B. Slater, creator of the Neda bust presented at last year’s massive solidarity rally in San Franciso; Chris Crowstaff, the founder of Safe World For Women, a global women’s rights and advocacy organization which campaigns for the rights of women and girls; Actress Susana Gaspar; and Film director Shlomo Hazan.
