Look, you gotta understand how "true" diplomacy works. Diplomacy is a gradual, step by step process in which two opposing parties work slowly, making and meeting agreements, towards a goal. In order for those agreements to work, both parties have to do their share to uphold the promises they have made. If one party (yes, i am referring to the palestinians in this case) have continued to not even acknowledge the state of israel to begin with, and continue with violent agression, despite promises to the contrary, and who have radical leaders who make religiously overtoned statements to their people, such as "pray for the destruction of israel", and basically talk the talk but who do not uphold these diplomatic agreements, such as the oslo accords, then diplomatic actions become very strained, to say the least.
So, when an amateurish president, who is not apparently educated in the history of that region and relations between these two parties thinks that he can just go on television and play movie star making a magical declaration to win a popularity contest., it is just so absurd.

One could say something like, in time, based on mutual cooperation, and a well-thought out, gradual plan seeking to create a peaceful coexistence between the Israelis and Palestinians, we may work towards a two-state (or other) solution. Effective diplomacy is based on education, cultivating trust, and backing well-intentioned ideas with action. And, it takes time.
But, in a current climate wherein the Muslim Brotherhood is becoming stronger, and again, looking at this with some clear historical perspective, It is just not smart policy to make some ill conceived declaration, sounding like something about as amateur at a high school student debate class, telling one country to compromise its security by returning to some arbitrary borders, which could create an extremely unsafe condition.
This is not just a popularity contest, and Obama looks like a fool. really.
I wish Hillary Clinton was president. She is so much smarter and more capable.

Maybe the United states should give Texas back to Mexico.

If anyone believes the US is in any way standing up to Israel or lowering support/funding, they need to stop watching pantomimes and puppet shows.
