A cursory review shows that there are numerous 2014 expiration dates.

ETA: a quick count shows several more than 100!

    Tradenames for Arrowhead and Chilocco.

Narconon International probably doesn't need to be registered in Oklahoma, so they let that lapse.

Two Narconons of Oklahoma. The first one, a charity, has expired. The second one is the real one.

Best Drug Rehabilitation appears to be at the same location as Tranquility Detox:
    • 163 North Ave, Battle Creek, Michigan, 49017-3426, USA
    Also, a corporate peculiarity:

Michigan has two Tranquility Detox corporations, both registered the same day.
    Entity Name ID Number Type
    TRANQUILITY DETOX 71097N Corporation
    TRANQUILITY DETOX 03912M Assumed Name
    TRANQUILITY DETOX, INC. 03912M Corporation

The first one "Tranquility Detox" has Per's usual agent Phillip B. Slot.

The second "Tranquility Detox, Inc." has Steve Anderson as agent. There's an oddity: "Status: (CONTACT OUR OFFICE AT 517-241-6470 TO OBTAIN DOCUMENT OR EXPLANATION) Date: 7-26-2011" rather than the usual. I would have expected the system to choke on two names so similar, but with them both being entered on the same day (same time?) perhaps they slipped through? The assumed name belongs to the second corp and collides with the first one. Same WTF status on it too.

It's the second corporation that's operating in Indiana to open a detox, but if their status is wonky, can they do that?

    Info sources

I can drill deeper on the Michigan state site, but it wants to load a Java app to view a tif file. Some consultant screwed them over.

They all need to be investigated by the BBB and IRS.
  5. DeathHamster Member

^^ Best Drug Rehabilitation definitely has a Manistee location. I'll have to check where the association with 163 North Ave, Battle Creek came from. Not surprising when dealing with Per Wickstrom.

Please. Per Wickstrom has the local BBB in his pocket. It's not like the BBB has any real investigative authority, and it's the company memberships that pay their bills. All Wickstrom has to do is change his company (again) and he has a clean record.

Ha! I found something to dispel Per's fog and frogs:

http://www.michigan.gov/documents/lara/All_SA_programs_and_service_categories_453638_7.pdf Substance Abuse Licensed Programs w/Service Categories (as of March 27, 2014), Michigan state.

That's a Michigan list of licensed drug programs with the name of the company actually licensed to operate at a given location.

And just so I'll know where to look for new versions later, here's the page where it was listed:

^^ Argh! Dummies! They list what the group calls themselves, not the hard official registered corporate name (maybe with the registration id#). How do they hand out licenses to just bunch of guys who call themselves "Best Drug Rehabilitation"?

Needs more than two. Hmm, shouldn't there be an index (not just on here) of how many names those bastards changed narCONon to?

I'm working on it. Start here, because in Michigan, it all revolves around this guy:

Hernando County Sheriff's Dept. Records on Narconon Spring Hill (Scientology Drug Rehab)

    R. M. Seibert is making this request to Hernando County Sheriff's Department of Hernando County.
It was inspired by this request.

    To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to Florida's Sunshine Law (Fla. Stat. secs. 119.01 to 119.15 (1995)), I hereby request the following records:

All police records, call logs and/or reports generated since August 1, 2008 pertaining to any incidents that occurred at the drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities located at 8213 Cessna Drive, Spring Hill, FL 34606. This facility is currently registered with the state as "Suncoast Rehabilitation Center, Inc." but has also been known to operate under the following business names:

    Narconon Spring Hill, Inc.
    Narconon Spring Hill
    Narconon Suncoast

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest due to the numerous civil lawsuits currently pending against this controversial Scientology-based drug rehab franchise for allegations of negligence, fraud, breach of contract, etc. Disclosure of the records I am seeking will greatly aid the public's understanding of what is happening at this non-profit organization, and how public service agencies operate when dealing with such a facility. For more information, please see:

    http://bitly.com/hjyhTN

Additionally, the requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your good faith response to this request as the statute requires.

    Sincerely,

    Ms. R. M. Seibert

Narconon Reviews has just published 5 new inspections of the Michigan facilities – Best Drug Rehab, A Forever Recovery, and Narconon Freedom Center.

    Here are the links:

The PDF Reports are at the bottom of this post.

Mary McConnell posted this with the reports:

It’s clear with some of these, that the facilities knew in advance about complaints and tried to fix things if possible, before the State licensing contacted them. But the fact that they let these places go down in such disrepair… and so quickly — ugh! We see these kind of disrepair reports time and time again…

Who would want to take a shower there, or eat in their foods knowing how lax they are.

And the issue making sure patients/students are provided a copy of the rules as a solution to allowing these facilities to continue to (again and again) dump students at a cheap motel if they don’t follow the rules — this information is NEVER provided to the patient or the loved one at the start… before they paid for the program or provided the insurance for their loved ones after being tricked into agreeing to attend the program.

This will all come to haunt these programs… it’s already out there on this website and in some court cases we have copies of. The internet is Narconon and the unbranded ones worst nightmare… There will be more. .And maybe then people will come to better know what they are getting themselves into before being ripped off.!.

This strikes me as fraud. Dumping students in a cheap motel if they break the rules? this is something that should be brought up to either the state DA, or people in the state legislature. I am pretty sure the people that can do something about this, have no idea this place even exists, or does crap like this.

Even worse, they did/will drop patients/students off at a homeless shelter, broke and alone to roam the streets. I mention a few in my book.

Or, take a look what they did to a young lad that's mentioned by a CBC TV reporter:

Medical advice from who, narCONon staff??

I don't believe for a second any legitimate (not on narCONon's payroll) doctor who's studied the program would suggest anyone attend narCONon.

Is he the sole proprietor, or are these LLCs? From an accounting standpoint, my accounting senses are screaming about the liability.

Then we have the reports that people where signing documents while under the influence of controlled substances. Under American contract law, these documents are VOID. Normally, in most modern circumstances, they would still try to enforce the contract, but this is a rehab, so the courts will not take kindly on this at all. It also raises a lot of other questions about how they operate.

That is something to point out to the Michigan authorities.

Narconon, is a real life, text book style example, of how not to run a business. I am astonished that they have survived this long. I guess this demonstrates the protective power of obscurity.

Bear in mind the operational banner that narconon flies under - Non-Profit Charity.

They're incorporated, usually in Nevada. They have a bunch of sock-puppet directors, but I have no doubt that Per owns and runs them somewhere under the covers.

I wish I could get a dump of all the companies where Phillip B. Slot is the Michigan agent of service. That would probably nail most of them.

Keep in mind that scientology-connected organisations are strictly hierarchical and anti-democratic, based on Hubbard's belief that democracies are evil, so any "board of directors" in a scientology organisation is a complete sham.
And any "non-profit" status is a pretense to conceal the fact that the guy in charge always materially benefits from his enterprise, through money laundering and clever accounting.

This location is marked as closed and the license is about to expire. I have searched Substance Abuse licenses in Battle Creek, but I don't see other current licenses for that location.

It could be that Per is letting this location close as he tries to shift out of Michigan, but I'll check again in August.

I think Per avoids non-profit because of the stricter reporting standards, and his operations are too dodgy to do the usual Narconon book-cooking accounting.

I also think that he's playing his own game, and if Scientology had any other options in that area, he'd be Ethics-bait or Declared in an instant.
