    Michael Moore

Ok, before I get flamed to all hell, just let me say that I'm already leaning against this. Nevertheless, the thought had popped into my mind, so I'm just putting this out there to see what people think about it.

    Pros:
    -He's not afraid of anybody
-Has a large audience / a good amount of influence
-He could actually make a film about Anon / CoS

    Cons:
-There are a lot of people that hate him, so being associated with him could also be bad for us (plus us kinda being less Anonymous)...
..and actually that's the only con I came up with, but that's a really, really big one.

    Anybody else?

Con: He has seemed sympathetic (afraid?) of the church recently

    Re: Michael Moore

He was on a list of celebrities against the Church, be a shame if even Michael Moore is afraid of CoS. They are just too powerful at the moment for induviduals to really take a stand without getting obliterated. If we can take out a few chunks of their armor, perhaps then we can get some big names like this to deal a fatal blow or two.

    Wait, really? Damn....

I will add a wait, really? Damn.... to that as well.
I'm not a fan of the fat slob just because I find fat people offensive as a matter of principle. Any particular instances?

MM's propensity for being rather unfettered by facts would seem to do more harm than good ,
there are other much more reputable liberals I would rather champion our cause,
though if he got on board it would be another voice and that is always a good thing

    Re: Michael Moore

I would be afraid of alienating people away from our cause, because there are a lot of people that despise Michael Moore just on general principle. "Oh, he likes Anonymous? It must SUCK THEN."

    Re: Michael Moore

I'm not sure how to interpret this Larry King interview with Moore - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGv6XBxk1IA#VeFAl8NucrY
But he says : "I hate it when anybody is attacking anybodies religion, whether it's Romney or Tom Cruise, I just think that's off limits. As Americans that's none of our business, it's every bodies private business". Maybe he is just referring to personal attacks, not direct criticisms against a organization.

    Re: Michael Moore

Was what Venerable posted your source? If not, I'd like to see it. At this point I'd say we can safely say Michael Moore is a bad idea, but I'm curious now as to him seeming sympathetic with the CoS.

    MM is fail.

Overzealous and obnoxious, with little regard for facts. LOVES to "spin". A little too much, for my liking.
  12. Re: Michael Moore

This is bound to get the conservatives pissed although his documentaries are allowed to be used as teaching materials in Toronto Area School Boards. Either says something about Moore's credibility or Ontario School Boards.

In other words, partisan hacks on this website should grow up and realize a good asset when you see one.

This is one of the worst things I heard today :V

Anyway, although Michael Moore is entertaining and all, he's hardly what one would call "reputable."

    Re: Michael Moore

    That list is kinda bullshit.
I mean, Michael Moore is on there because he mentioned in a book that it creeped him out when one of his limo drivers tried to convert him to Scientology.
    Thats hardly critical.

    Re: Michael Moore

Morgan Spurlock is a better documentary film maker. One, because he doesn't spin the facts like dear old Mikey Moore. And two, he doesn't have a polarizing effect like dear old Mikey Moore.

    Errol Morris too.

    Re: Michael Moore

Sign me up as another person who prefers Spurlock to Moore. MM seems to play fast and loose with the facts from time to time. Whether or not he does fudge his facts, the impression that he does so is held by many people. I wouldn't want to turn people off enturb's mission by involving someone like MM.

MM has pissed me off for years by taking perfectly sensible positions and then supporting them with staged events and interpretations of the facts to hand. Universal healthcare=good, staging events at clinics in Cuba= not so good.

Spurlock has done a series of tv shows (28 days, i think its called) if you need better examples of his work.

That said, I frankly do not think we *need* either one of them. If they get contacted by Anons and pick up the mantle on their own, good for them. But if they are associating themselves with Anon, then they need to know what Anon is about in general and in this battle.

Cue in the "Anonymous doesn't attack any religion or belief at all, it attacks specific criminal activities like such and such, with this and that evidence and proof" counter-argument.

Isn't Wise Beard Man planning to shoot a documentary himself? I thought that was why we were having a Donate to WBM Day. Did I miss something? The forums are growing faster than I can keep up.

    Re: Michael Moore

I think it'd be difficult for MM to actually do a documentary - in most cases he has someone to make look like an ass, and it's difficult to do without looking like he's attacking the religion. It's a very delicate case for anyone, nevermind Michael Moore, especially since Co$ has been playing the bigotry card left right and centre.

Also, a big cinema documentary in the style of MM or Spurlock = profit, which isn't the main intention but the Co$ will probably spin it so it looks like it is.

    Re: Michael Moore

The only thing Moore could do to help would be to put on a mask and stand alongside us as Anonymous. I kind of like the guy, but he's the very definition of namefaggotry, and I doubt he'd be willing to drop his ego for long enough.

(In case I'm wrong, and he walks among us, then apologies, Mr- Anonymous).

    Re: Michael Moore

Unfortunately it was the parts that incriminated him that found there way onto Newsnight, Have I Got News For You, etc. The talking points were almost invariably one by the $cilongs thanks to the shouting, the context of his breakdown was very rarely emphasised. Also inside members of the Church probably believed the smarmy video accusing him of everything short of child-rape and most likely did not even watch the actual doc.

In terms of damage control they did a damn fine job.

    Re: Michael Moore

I'd be much more willing to get behind this. We already have an Emmy Award winning film maker in our midst, I don't believe there's a need to recruit another person for that purpose.

I also worry about alienating the conservatives as well. We want to appeal to an audience that is non partisan.

However, if we had other actors on our side, that would be wonderful. What do you guys think about Patrick Stewart? He's intelligent, very well spoken, not to mention he's a culture icon that our grass roots *channers, YTMNDers and goons can all easily get behind which will maintain our morale, enthusiasm and of course, the lulz factor.
