I am creating a new thread on this specific topic to address members of the Nation of Islam who, in my experience primarily on Twitter, deny or are ignorant of the fact that they are practicing the religion of Scientology.

[For the purpose of this thread, I would also like to put to the side the issue of whether or not Scientology is a religion. The point, for now, is that: (a) Scientology represents it is a religion; (b) members of the Nation of Islam apparently believe Scientology is a religion; but (c) members of the Nation of Islam also incorrectly assert or believe they are not practicing the religion of Scientology.]


The Scientology E-Meter is a "religious artifact" "for use only by a Scientology minister or Scientology minister in training."



An Auditor is a minister or minister in training of the Church of Scientology (and NOT the Nation of Islam).





All Auditors are required to be ordained ministers of the Church of Scientology.


It is a prerequisite to for permanent certification as an Auditor that to become an ordained minister in the Church of Scientology.


Tony Muhammad, the Student Western Regional Minister of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of the Islam, is trained on the Scientology religious artifact known as a the E-Meter, which is for use only by Scientology ministers and ministers in training.

He said that the first thread you started on this topic was back on January 21, 2014, and since then you have started fifty more threads about the Nation of Islam and ("the religion of") Scientology. In two years, that's fifty-one different threads you've started about pretty much the same thing.

More seriously, for some time I have made an effort generally not to create new threads, but instead to add to existing threads. I thought this was worth a new thread because I was trying to make a narrow, specific point.

Nation of Islam Minister Tony Muhammad and other members of the Nation of Islam underwent Scientology religious pastoral counseling when they completed the Scientology auditing process known as Super Power.

Did Nation of Islam Minister Tony Muhammad commit the Muslim sin of shirk and the Scientology suppressive act of mixing practices when he completed the Scientology religious pastoral counseling process known as Super Power?

As noted above, Nation of Islam Minister Tony Muhammad and other members of the Nation of Islam have completed the Scientology auditing process known as Super Power.





It is initially important to recognize that according to the Church of Scientology, "auditing" is Scientology religious pastoral counseling.





On a deeper level, the question is whether Minister Tony Muhammad committed the Muslim sin of shirk when he completed Scientology Super Power pastoral counseling. In Islam, shirk is the deification or worship of anyone or anything other than the singular God i.e. Allah. Literally, it means ascribing or the establishment of "partners" placed beside Allah. It is the vice that is opposed to the virtue of Tawhid (monotheism).

The issue under Islam arises because Minister Muhammad states above that, "it was during this process on the 7th [Super Power] run down that Allah have [him] a vision that inspired him to call for Unity among the gangs!"

It thus appears that Minister Muhammad may have, indeed, ascribed "partners" beside Allah. The clear implication of Minister Muhammad's statement is that he had his "vision" from Allah only because he was doing the Scientology Super Power religious pastoral counseling process.

Similarly, in Scientology it is a suppressive act, a sin, to use "other practices" or to mix Scientology processes with "other practices." It appears Minister Muhammad was mixing the Scientology process of Super Power with another practice -- i.e., Islam -- when he had his "vision" from Allah.

I am not a Muslim, and my most recent sinful act was to defile myself with a ham sandwich, but my understanding is that NOI elevates their prophet Elijah Muhammad to a place that most Muslims consider to be Shirk already. NOI disagrees and claims that Allah acts through Elijah Muhammad in a special way that steps around the rules that Muhammad (Praise Be Upon Him) laid out in the blessed Qu'ran.

On a level that 99% of Shia and Sunni would recognize, Elijah Muhammad committed Shirk, Farrakhan/Tony Muhammad/all the NOI squirrels in squirreldom commit Shirk through idolatry of Elijah Muhammad every fucking day.

And they are so fucked, and so going to Hell, its not even funny. You think Scientology can help them with that? If Allah, Jesus and Super-Power Enabled Tony Muhammad got in a fight, who would win?

For quite a few years, we’ve been keeping an eye on the odd relationship that’s developed between Farrakhan’s group and David Miscavige’s Church of Scientology. As best we can tell, that relationship began around the year 2006, when Scientologist and Baptist minister the Rev. Alfreddie Johnson Jr. began bringing Farrakhan to Hollywood Celebrity Centre events. According to NOI’s official publication The Final Call, Farrakhan began introducing Scientology concepts to his Nation of Islam followers on May 8, 2010. Farrakhan had come to the realization that L. Ron Hubbard (perhaps the whitest man who ever lived) had valuable “wisdom” for the black nationalist organization that Farrakhan has led since 1977.

Farrakhan asked his followers to study Hubbard’s original text, the 1950 book Dianetics, which is known as “Book One” to Scientologists. We’ve seen photographs of large convention rooms filled with hundreds of NOI members doing “Book One auditing,” which is the original form of counseling that Hubbard developed and does not use an E-meter. More than a thousand NOI members have been certified as Dianetics auditors, according to The Final Call. We’ve also seen an increasing number of Nation of Islam members doing actual Scientology, and progressing rather far up Scientology’s expensive “Bridge to Total Freedom.” But at this point, we still don’t see much convincing evidence of an actual merger between the two groups.

Yesterday, Farrakhan gave the keynote address at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit at the annual event, which marks the February 26, 1877 birth of the Nation of Islam’s founder, Master Wallace Fard Muhammad. A little more than two hours into his stemwinder, Farrakhan began blaming former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for pushing President Barack Obama to cause the 2011 death of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

Farrakhan said that he was warned by people that he should turn away from Gaddafi “because everyone is turning on him.” But Farrakhan noted, “I don’t turn on my friends,” and certainly not when they are becoming targets. Farrakhan said that Gaddafi had loaned some $5 million to the movement, but that it didn’t buy Gaddafi influence. “I can’t be no whore for $5 million,” he said.

Farrakhan then turned to his relationship to the Church of Scientology, which itself has come under fire like never before.

“Some of you, my critics, when I saw something of value in Dianetics — ‘ah, look at that Farrakhan. He sold out’ — see, I can prove that I didn’t get a dime from Dianetics or Scientology. We spent a lot of money buying the books on Dianetics. I saw something of value. I thought we could use it. What did you see of value? Let me tell you what I saw,” he said.

He then asked the women in the audience to raise their hands (but then told them not to actually do it) if they had been sexually abused by members of their own families. He talked about how people deal with being victims of such attacks, and how they “overcompensate” with aggressive behavior. Farrakhan spoke about the need to heal from such experiences.

“Dianetics was something that allowed you to confront the things that make you other than yourself to help you move on with your life,” he said. “Now, hell, they’re beating the hell out of Scientology now. So everybody want to run away. Farrakhan not that kind of man.”

He then cited a chapter from the Koran, and used it to say that he was interested in useful knowledge, whatever its source.

“I’m just setting the record straight. I’m not a Scientologist but I respect L. Ron Hubbard. I know that this is the time that they’re making an all out move to destroy Scientology. But what I ask Mrs. Remmy, or whatever her name is, she’s going in hard. She’s hurt, by something.”

Farrakhan then seemed to go on a tangent, talking about his followers looking for understanding but worrying that it was coming from sources that weren’t “perfect.” It was difficult to tell whether this was another reference to Hubbard and Scientology. But he concluded this section of remarks with this line: “The more we strive to make ourselves better, the better we will become in being disciples of Christ or Muhammad or anybody we think we should follow.”

The message seemed pretty clear: Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam will stand by the Church of Scientology as it is marked for destruction by a hurt Leah Remini.

According to the Nation of Islam’s official publication, The Final Call, Louis Farrakhan began having NOI members take courses in L. Ron Hubbard’s Dianetics on May 8, 2010. Two weeks later, on May 23, an official Scientology commendation was awarded to Remini, giving her credit for helping to create “one of the most important dissemination cycles of Scientology in history to get LRH Tech to Black People.”

The commendation was signed by the two people most often associated with the relationship between the two groups — the Nation of Islam’s Minister Tony Muhammad, and Scientology’s Rev. Alfreddie Johnson Jr.

According to the document they signed, Leah was instrumental in forging the bond between the two churches by, in part, “sponsoring” courses for Tony Muhammad (in other words, paying for them), and for spending the money to help build the Inglewood Ideal Org, which opened in a prominent greater-Los Angeles black neighborhood the next year, 2011.

“Leah has always had huge affinity and desire to help Black People through out the world,” the commendation says. “As a Result of her help on this cycle, Min. Louis Farrakhan and all of the top NOI Execs are now on services.”

That’s right — it was through the largess of Leah Remini, this document says, that Minister Farrakhan himself was taking Scientology courses. But seven years later, he can’t remember her name and dismisses her expose of Scientology as a personal vendetta because she’s “hurt.”

Besides revealing Leah’s role in bringing the two groups together, the document also confirms something we’ve long assumed — that for Scientology’s part, bringing in Nation of Islam members for courses was mostly about trying to increase black involvement in an overwhelmingly white church.

But what is Farrakhan getting out of it? In his address last month, he seemed to be aware that the accusation has been made that he’s receiving cash commissions for sending his people Scientology’s way. But he claimed that he hadn’t made any money on the two groups coming together.

“I can prove that I didn’t get a dime from Dianetics or Scientology. We spent a lot of money buying the books on Dianetics. I saw something of value,” he said.

“Well, someone is getting a commission from Scientology for bringing in those new people,” says Jeffrey Augustine, a frequent contributor here who has been studying the Scientology-NOI connection for more than a decade.

PLUS A TECHNICAL OBSERVATION

Sister Nayyirah Muhammad attesting to Clear actually raises an interesting theological point and technical issue in Scientology. In A Letter to Clears and elsewhere, Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard says Clears are actually quite vulnerable, and therefore must move on to the OT levels ASAP. Yet, in all my years of NOI watching, the one Scientology practice members of the Nation have NOT done is the OT levels for an obvious reason. The reason is that it is at the OT levels that the cosmology of Scientology (e.g., Xenu) and the cosmology of the Nation of Islam (e.g., Yakub) irrenconciably conflict.

One could argue that from a Scientology technical perspective that the COS did a great disservice to Sister Nayyirah Muhammad by bringing her to the vulnerable state of Clear when she has no hope of going OT.

IMHO, all this should be seen in the broader context:

• Islam in the US
• NOI

TL;DR: A minority cult of a minority religion of a minority ethnic group in a minority country thinks its future lies in its connection with another cult. This singularity is interesting to observe, but its importance should not be overestimated. IMHO, the main problem remains scientology and its financial strength.

I would not underestimate the importance of the NOI to the Church of Scientology for a number of reasons.

First, my understanding (sorry, cannot provide a source) is that more Dianetic auditing is being done inside the Nation of Islam than in the Church of Scientology itself

Second, the Nation of Scientology provides manpower to the Church of Scientology.

Third, related to the second point, NOI members have become Class V staff members. To my knowledge, there have been no reports of NOI members becoming SO, but I suspect it is not outside the realm of possibility.

Fourth, and IMHO most importantly, the Church of Scientology has completely co-opted the NOI into the COS anti-psych agenda. Indeed, at a COS Maiden Voyage Event David Miscavige noted that the NOI provided protesters for an anti-psych protest at a recent American Psychiatric Association convention, and made a point of saying how important they were.

Agreed, but in both cases, human numbers involved are low.

Today I only share this post in effort to shed light bring understanding to help someone esp my family!!!! Every since i was a young girl i have seen love ones suffer from so called depression and anxiety! To the point at age 17 i started to experience it my self. For years i suffered with the thoughts of feeling like i was dying. When my dad died I wanted to die also. Never with the thought of killing myself. However i just was thinking death was coming for me. This became very overwhelming. Always nervous and afraid to be alone. This lasted for almost 10 years on and off. I felt like no one understood. Then i found The Nation of Islam.. This really brought me to a point where i could begin to cope with the thought and some of the pressures of life. As time went on faith and my duty to Allah and His Mission started to heal me. However i still had silent fears that only my husband and children could help me through. 10 years of that into my journey in Islam The Honorable Minister Farrakhan gave us a gift/tool called Dianetics. I began this process in 2010 I can't begin to explain the lifeforce that has been recovered for ME by handling my self. The more i go through this process of Auditing the more of these generations of curses are being unlocked and removed in me! Sanity is what i am regaining. So now i decided to train for more advance Auditor so I can HELP others at a quicker rate as I am being helped. Today my heart filled with tears as a love one/family member younger than me called me and is experiencing that same feeling of death thoughts. I was hurt at first then it kicked in I know exactly what to do. The 5 hours a day that i put in training and auditing is what i am going through for these very times. I will HELP my love ones and change the conditions of the mental anguish my family have suffered as long as they trust and allow me. They may not understand auditing but they love me and know i love them! So i write this post in hopes that those of us that have been commissioned by The Honorable Minister Farrakhan to become spiritual physicans keep going. The church adopted a modified version of that statement, which it still invokes in connection with the E-meter. The current statement reads:

The Hubbard Electrometer is a religious artifact. By itself, this meter does nothing. It is for religious use by students and Ministers of the church in Confessionals and pastoral counseling only.[87]

Nation of Islam Brother David Muhammad, the husband of Sister Nayyirah Tivica Muhammad, has completed the Scientology PTS/SP Course. Please note in the second photograph his efforts to reconcile Scientology scriptures with Nation of Islam scriptures. I can readily see how "hypocrites" in NOI theology would correspond to the 1.1 Covertly Hostile in Scientology scriptures. I do not (yet) have sufficient knowledge of NOI doctrine to see how "the learning of the 26 letters" is reflected in Scientology scripture. I must admit, I am at a complete loss how the the concept of "prayer" is reflected in PTS/SP doctrine. Also important is Brother David Muhammad's statement, "It can help keep the NOI going and strong for a long time with implementation."

He has been a Professional Course Supervisor in the Academy (Div. 4) of the Church of Scientology of Atlanta for five years, from 2013 to present. Overlapping that, he has been a Staff Photographer for the Nation of Islam's newspaper, The Final Call, for nine years, from 2009 to present.

FWIW, IMHO being a Professional Course Supervisor in the Academy is a significant, technical position in the Church of Scientology, As such in a Class V Org, he is responsible for training Auditors though Class V. Being trained at Flag is also signficant.

The issue is the hypocrisy of the Church of Scientology using the Nation of Islam to promote an image of interfaith harmony at the same time Scientology Freedom Medal Winner Nation of Islam Minister Tony Muhammad, the Western Regional Minister of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, gives a series of lectures attacking both the Bible and the standard Christian understanding of Jesus. In the Scientology forums the NOI is all interfaith Kumbaya. In its own forums, the NOI lectures about how Christians don't really understand Jesus and oh, by the way, their Bible was tampered with to advance a racist agenda.
