I think a flier like this could work...just maybe not promise something that some idiots may take as serious. Most people taking the flier will know it is a joke. Just a little tweaking needed.

    I would pass it out.

I might even print out a few of my own!

Naw, it's funnier if you have the idiots who think it's serious.

I just wanted to add...the site does not confirm yet the location of booths this year...so don't go printing anything yet.

Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

Yeah, the flyering and such was kind of fail.. Besides that, the meetup was rather quickly planned and not everyone knew where or what time we were meeting.

Also: A large night raid/trolling/flyering/etc. one of the days... Y/N?

This is a great idea if the fucking typo was fixed and we have the new Galaxy Press Comic Con 09 booth number.

^ A good obvious distraction, while the rest of the group goes inside and fliers the fuck outta the center.

Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

Was told last yearing any flyering inside will get every card on the table pulled, plus anyone flyering perma-b& from Comic-Con for either that day or all the days.

The closest we were able to flyer is right around the trolley station.

Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

If that's true, OSA may pull a stunt by distributing Anon promo so the anon flyers get tossed out of the free table and the convention center.

615 dollars now. That's over half way to the advertisement cost. I donated.

Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

Also, there most probably WILL be an all night raid/party/general faggotry/circle jerk on one of the days, possibly Scaturday (no matter what you say, scat is better then cats).

The plan is to arrive while they're still there.. as proven in the past, as long as we're there they won't all leave.
If they grow balls and do however, there's still TONS of crap happening all over the gaslamp area right near the Con. Last years 2 man night raid saw tons of foot traffic with people going to/from bars, parties and other shit.

No time for meetup has been set or definate plan.. probably a few localfags will meet and head to the Org before everyone else.

If you're interested, please make sure to let myself or other SD Anons know when the time comes closer.

What I heard was, our ISP got sick of bullshit drama from the Scilons, so we're looking for a new server. Our forum is still up, however:

I know we'll have material on the freebie table this year, if dumbass Moses there didn't give OSA an epic idea the cult hadn't thought of before.

    <golfclap>
Well done, Moses. New to the world of covert info spreading, eh?

Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

Youfoundthecomic should have autorenewed. Don't know why it didn't...

I'll get ahold of the webhost and see what's up. Sandiegoanon is going to redirect to either the Socal box or our forums as our webhost is pissed at all the bullshit the Scilons throw at them.

Bump. We don't have enough to get an ad, and not a whole lot for cards.. is money required to get on the flyer table? Not a whole lot was raised.

In other news, YFTComic is back up.

Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

You pick up on that, and ignore the 14 different incorrect spellings of "jeopardy"?

/me resist urge to post video of Weird Al spoof of Greg Kihn Band song here.

Question: there was a short-lived thread on WWP where Anons made some Scilon / Anon-themed comix using online generators like Pixton / Strip Generator, etc. I THINK (though my memory is spotty) that someone involved with ComicCon was going to look into using some of those once the question of whether it was "legal" to do so was resolved. Any word on that?

Frankly, I don't see them as being superior (or equal to) to original art, but as a participant in that tomfoolery, you are welcome to use any I made for fliers or other nonsense if they are deemed useful or worthy.

Also, FWIW, when I go to Cons, I pick up a lot of freebie fliers and crap to look at later, and read any con handouts / booklets from cover to cover, albeit after the Con is over and I have time. I also use freebie bizcards as bookmarks, and pick up a lot of bizcards I don't think I'll be interested in when patronizing businesses in my area that have an area to dump bizcards (and leave behind my own stack of YFTCs when I do, as is only fair).

Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

I'd like to change the date and booth information on this flyer to spread at CCI. Do we know their booth number yet?

I can make 4,000 flyers easy.

Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

    A. Confirmed via comic-con site Galaxy Press 1222
It says List as of Jul 12, 2009...so it looks like they have the same space as last year. They did not have a bad place...they were on a corner, so people could see their booth without having to be in their row.

    B. Please correct the spelling of receive. It is misspelled on the flier from last year.

    C. I plan on doing something similar. Colored paper gets more people to grab it than white. And for myself, I will be more judicious in my use of fonts in the flier.

Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

Booth location noted. I fail at Photoshop so I might just do a similar flyer to the one above in simplicity. But if you upload what you are making by Friday morning, I'll just make 4,000 of the flyers using your design. Using colored paper, of course.

    Yes/No/Cocks?
  24. Anonymous Member

Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

You don't need photoshop....just any decent word precessing program. I am sure that that was what was used in the original.

I was planning on something more along the lines of mentioning the booth and giving several questions for the holder of the flier to ask the people at the booth. But I need to write it in such a way as to let them in on the joke.

Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

Just a quick note to thank everyone for contributing to this project. XenuBarb and I handed out many cards last year outside the convention, and we had a great time! The best part for me was when a angry young man walked past us yelling into his cell phone "they are out here now, and they are telling everyone it is a cult!" We also got free food and drinks and passes from the public.

    img0146x.jpg

Downstat: Xenu's eyeball fell out and was lost.

    Upstat: Pirate patch was patch.
  26. Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

Suggestion: Stick one of the anti-scientology web addresses somewhere on the coupon too...so that even if they never make it to the booth to redeem it, there is still a chance for them to find out more information.

I'm partial to www.truthrundown.org. It's backed by a major newspaper so it's less likely to sound hysterical or tinfoily like xenu.net or even WWP.

Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

Thanks for picking up the ball, but I mourn the loss of the subtlety of the original. There's something really beautiful with playing it straight on this particular project.

Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

Fear not, Anonymous! There are still many ways to get lulz at Comic-Con even without this. Remember, last year there were lots of V for Vendetta mask vendors. Kids and grownups of all stripes were buying them and walking around the dealers hall. They'll still be around. LOL

Also, how do you know that people won't be in the halls pulling all sorts of covert shenanigans? Hmmm?

Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

    But I liked that covert op. ;_;
  33. Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

    Slightly off-topic:

Could one of you SDAnons FedEx me a carna asada burrito and some rolled tacos with guac from Robertos?

There was nothing better than the post-drinking Robertos run after the bars tossed you out at 2:00 AM. It's one of the only things I miss about living down there.

    24 hour mexican food...fucking brilliant!

Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

Which Robertos? There are tons all over the place owned by completely different people. Some are good, some are crap.

Though yes, I have to agree: Mexican food after a night of drinking is awesome, I'm a local and I do it every time I drink.

Gringos need to lrn2espanol. I think you meant Roybertito's.

  38. Re: MARCAB INVASION II - SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON 2009

    Little Known Fact:
The ones called "Robertos" are the originals - they've been around since 1964.
Albertos came second, and they started franchising them. The other -bertos (aliberto, humberto, hilberto, etc) are franchises of Albertos.

My favorite was always whichever was closest to the bar I was staggering out of at 2:00 AM. At that hour, and as drunk as I usually was, there is no bad mexican food. Whenever possible, however, I liked to support the original Robertos.

Why do I live 3,000 miles away from this?!?! <facepalm> ): I wish I could be there, good luck and many lulz to those who attend!
