LOL.. The Weiner that got hacked...

    Of possible interest:

Joseph Cannon has been blogging extensively about "Weinergate" and one point made is very interesting: He demonstrates that even when unscrupulous, self-promoting, bad people happen to make accurate accusations once in a blue moon...well, it does not mean they are no longer unscrupulous, self-promoting, bad people. They may or may not have stacked the deck, even. Which bad people do.

"The fact that proven serial liar & vile smear merchant Breitbart was “vindicated” (in the same sense that a blind squirrel achieves “competent gatherer” status when it happens to stumble over an acorn) is the most gall-inducing aspect of this story for me. Well, that, & as you pointed out, that the Clarence Thomas angle is being ignored for the moment." ~ From the often hilarious "Angry Black Lady" blog comments section

Cannon is an interesting commentator partially because he is not a big fan of Obama, thus is not invested in vindicating Weiner on knee-jerk partisan ("I'm a Dem so I support even the stupid things Dems do" / I'm a Pub so I suppose even the stupid things Pubs do" simplistic thinking) grounds.

    What MAY have happened:
Weiner sent inappropriate "private" tweets which were acquired by ideological opponents
His Twitter followers were already being scrutinized and harassed by his ideological opponents
(Some of the Weiner Twitter followers were underage and while he did not behave inappropriately with them--sole contact was a standard / canned "Thanks for following me" note--some of his 'enemies' DID behave HIGHLY inappropriately and stalked and harassed children in their zeal to get ANYTHING on Weiner.)
Weiner uses a Blackberry, on which TweetDeck does not work (you need to use TwitterBerry).
The Wolfe expose' of the upside-down crotch shot was conveniently timed--especially as he practically outlined what he was going to do and what would happen in detail right before the 'scandal' broke--and I don't think Weiner posted that image to his Twitter 'wall' (I don't use Twitter, so I am going to fail at getting the terminology right) on that particular occasion
I do believe he posted it privately earlier
It has been demonstrated that, prior to Yfrog closing a security hole, it was not difficult to "spoof" someone's account and post an image to their Tweetfeed

Read his posts on the subject for more info. He's entertaining.

TL;DR: Weiner did it, kinda--he clearly has taken and sent inappropriate images out on the Internet--but he didn't slip up that day on Twitter and post that image himself and the image was not leaked without a little push and some planning--and use of a now-closed Yfrog security hole--from ideological opponents. Weiner was telling the truth when he said (inaccurately) that he was "hacked" (it was actually just a security hole and not a hack) but he lied / waffled about whether the image was of him before admitting it was. I suspect his admission, in part, was motivated because he feared someone would up the ante and release even more embarrassing images (which, of course, has happened anyway, if we believe Breitbart's claim that the dick shot on his phone is Weiner's weiner).

I suspect he is rolling over and taking the heat to forestall revelation of even more damning images that were assumed to be private before the crotch shot was revealed (not accidentally by Weiner, IMHO, but deliberately, using a security hole, by his opponents--as they 'predicted' would happen). It is POSSIBLE (pure speculation on my part, here) that the same compromised place that the crotch shot was uploaded / stored had more damning photos uploaded / stored there as well and he knows it and is justifiably nervous about what other images may have been accessed / appropriated by people who do not wish him well. (See: Opie & Andy / Breitbart and the dick image on mobile phone screen)

I actually have liked a lot of what Weiner has had to say as a Congresscritter, and I think he was a total idiot in this case.

It's also possible that this scandal was very conveniently timed to distract from Clarence Thomas' (successful) attempt to avoid media scrutiny into his financial shenanigans by filing the papers late on Friday on a holiday weekend. Weiner was being very loud and asking a lot of hard questions about it, and it is interesting timing that this 'scandal' popped up when it did. I think his opponents (i.e. Wolfe, for one) had those pictures (how? was someone posing as a female on Twitter? Did someone dig around and find a photo album?) and they were champing at the bit to release them for a while before they did. I don't believe Weiner, who was Tweeting AT THAT TIME on a Blackberry (which does not have TweetDeck capabilities) posted that image "accidentally" to his public Tweetfeed. I do believe he noticed it and was the one to delete it. Notice also that Breitbart is distancing himself from Wolfe NOW, which underscores my suspicion that some underhanded shenanigans occurred in order for someone other than Weiner (or someone he DMed / personal messaged on Twitter) to have access to those images.

    Just some thoughts.

No one is entirely clean-handed, here.

Uh-oh. The Weiner may have lied to President Obama.

FF Exclusive: Did Weiner Lie to President Obama?

    June 9th, 2011 at 2:30 pm

Rep. Anthony Weiner may have lied to President Obama directly about his Twitter scandal–denying outright to Obama that he tweeted a lewd photo of himself to a college student, FrumForum has learned.
A highly placed Democratic source told FrumForum that four days before his June 6 press conference, Weiner had a phone conversation with Obama in which Weiner aggressively denied that he had sent the now notorious photo of himself in his underwear.
    According to the source:
“The congressman said fairly aggressively what he had been saying in the media. Not admitting that it was him in the pictures, not denying that it was him, but saying with certainty that he did not send them.”
If true, it would help explain why many leading Democrats are unhappy and refusing to support Weiner: having lied to their top guy, he showed that he was willing to bring down the entire party to protect himself.
FrumForum contacted the White House and DNC for comment, but has so far received no response.

I'm having trouble imagining that Obama actually called up Anthony Weiner and asked if that really was his junk. So, with unnamed sources, Cool Story Frum.

    I mean, really.

I totally believe it. Obama is the representative figurehead of the Democratic Party who wants to be re-elected for a 2nd term. He also wants to see a Democratic majority in the House & Senate, and doesn't want one congressman's scandal to fuck up the political process & the final results.

They should just resolve this by having all of them have the first annual "Men, Flash your Junk Day", play show and tell, and get it over with.

Anthony Weiner heads to rehab as Nancy Pelosi, other leaders call on him to resign

Weiner's pulling out -- for a little while, at least.

Serial-sexting Congressman Anthony Weiner headed off to rehab and will seek a leave of absence, as Nancy Pelosi and other Dems demanded he quit following his admission to sending private Twitter messages to a 17-year-old girl.

Weiner's office said the randy rep left this morning for "professional treatment," and will take a leave of absence from the House as he tries to become a better family man.

Ginger Lee's Nude Strip Show -- Weiner'd Out

6/15/2011 9:40 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

Ex-porn star Ginger Lee is taking it all off tonight at a strip joint in Atlanta -- hours after blowing the lid off her e-fling with Anthony Weiner -- and we're told, there's only one item on the club menu ... weiners.

Sources at the Pink Pony strip club tell TMZ, the place will be selling super-sized hot dogs during Ginger's 20-minute performance tonight -- when which she'll strip completely naked in a room full of dudes.

We're told the Pony booked her last week -- just as Weinergate was blowing up.

And it really pays to be at the center of a national controversy -- we're told Ginger is getting THREE TIMES her normal stripping rate to appear tonight.

"The latest images, which were splashed on the cover of the National Enquirer, Fox News reported, date back to his college days at the State University of Plattsburgh. The pictures were taken by a college friend in 1983, when Weiner was 18.
In one photo, Weiner is smiling at the camera while wearing a bra and pantyhose. In another, Weiner is oiled and posing in front of a Christmas tree in y-fronted swimming trunks."

Weiner Heckled as He Resigns From Congress

6/16/2011 10:00 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

Anthony Weiner just resigned his seat in Congress, as people in the room heckled him.

Weiner apologized to his constituents and to his wife. He said he was announcing his resignation because of the distraction he caused.

When Weiner said he was resigning, applause erupted in the room, and hecklers began chiming in, making it difficult for Weiner to continue. One of the people in the room -- Benjy Bronk from the Howard Stern Show, screamed, "Are you more than 7 inches?" Another screamed, "Yeah, get out of here pervert."

As he walked out, one heckler asked, "Will you maintain your hot physique?"

Benjy Bronk makes international news as Weiner resignation heckler

    By Liz Brown

Howard Stern Show writer Benjy Bronk made international headlines Thursday after heckling Representative Anthony Weiner's resignation press conference.

A photo of Bronk at the press conference was distributed by Getty Images, one of the world's most popular sources for news and editorial photos. Bronk was profiled in the New York Times, Slate, the L.A. Times, RadarOnline and, most hilariously, by the Norwegian news website VG Nett.

Bronk hijacked the press conference by screaming out questions including:"fully aroused are you more than 7 inches?" and "will you maintain your hot physique" during Weiner's 3 minute attempt at a dignified exit from his Congressional career.

Britain's online version of Telegraph reported that Bronk was removed from the venue by police, but the New York Times says Bronk was only cautioned that police would be summoned if his antics continued--which they did.

Bronk also reportedly granted more than 30 minutes of interviews to entertainment media reporters following the Weiner resignation press conference, so Howard Stern Show fans can expect even more Bronk-centric coverage over the weekend.

I heard the press heckling and I was thinking really ... it's bad enough they push important issues aside, pelosi was going to talk about the job numbers and problem so they didn't stick with her because it was non Weiner stuff she was talking about, same with Kusinich he was there to talk about sorting Obama out over Libya war and they kept trying to bring up Weiner.

Wiener announced it, but hasn't officially resigned.. and this..

"Within hours after Anthony Weiner announced his resignation from Congress, former MSNBC gabber Keith Olbermann suggested he may hire the soon-to-be-former New York lawmaker for a talk show on former Vice President Al Gore's fledgling television network, Current TV."
