    Welcome to the poorhouse NOI
Jesse Muhammad says he didn’t pay more than $50 for the certification course he took after the first Rosemont seminar and that the Church offered the option of a payment plan. Soon, though, he started getting daily e-mails checking in on his progress or recommending new books and was informed that the initial course didn’t actually confer permanent certification. Unless he gets a “gold seal” within a certain amount of time, he’ll have to start all over again. “Scientology is a pay-as-you-go religion,” says Bey, the former Nation minister. “It has never cared about African Americans. ... These are poor people and they are being exploited.”

[IMG]However, there are some striking theological overlaps that might help explain how Farrakhan came to adopt a religion invented by a white man. There is, of course, the attachment to science fiction: Scientologists believe in an alien dictator, Xenu; the Nation holds that the white race was created by a mad scientist named Yakub.

There are Jews a-plenty in Scientology.
The cult is an equal-opportunity soul cracker, so long as one has money.

    WTF am I reading here?

Someone blew radioactive rice up his ass? Three times? What the hell is that supposed to do?

And what's with "fell tragically ill" since he's still alive? Oh wait, perhaps that is kind of tragic.

LOL! This is hilarious. But, wait, tragically ill doesn't always mean death, does it? LOL Tragic meaning that's what led to his pelvic reconstruction. (t.m.i.)

I guess my standards are tragic are different, having lost too many people to real tragic illnesses recently.
  29. Leila Wills Member

Oh okay, I understand. Sorry for the loss of your loved ones. I've been thinking this over so maybe tragic and death are synonymous when it comes to illness. Good discussion...

It's an implanted pellet of some radioactive substance. It is a type of radiation therapy where the radioactive source is brought as close as possible to the tumor, in order to avoid the typical side effects on healthy tissue that commonly occur in conventional radiation therapy. The proper term is brachytherapy, see

  33. And as the NoI members awaken to one cult, one can hope they awaken to their own cult and break free.

    From Facebook:

    Tony Ortega shared a link.

For years we've been hearing that Louis Farrakhan has been encouraging his members to learn Dianetics and become Scientology auditors. For a Saturday discussion, we put it to our readers -- what is Scientology's part in this strange partnership? Is Farrakhan actually gaining any control over David Miscavige's organization? Or is this just a freakish sideshow?
