Kansas City October 30, 2010 because I'm attending a concert there. Since there's no org in OK, I've never been able to attend a picket before. I want to finally put my money where my mouth is and attend a protest while I'm there. I may need help with transportation once I'm there.
Re: I;m going to be in KS City in late Oct How late is late October? We may be able to accommodate you. Can we make official October planning thread?
re: Kansas City October 30, 2010 Probably means on the 29th or so. I'm going to be in town for a concert that weekend.
re: Kansas City October 30, 2010 We can probably come to some sort of arrangement. There are a lot of interesting things happening in KC that weekend. This is pretty far off still though.
re: Kansas City October 30, 2010 Fuck if I know. Probably not. Apparently it only had its first outing last year, so I'm guessing it'll be a while before it acquires a following. Naka-Kon had an attendance of 4,000+ this year and it started back in 2005.
re: Kansas City October 30, 2010 Their website doesn't say much. The only thing they list as attractions are the English voice actors and I couldn't possibly care less about them. Now if Anime Hell shows up, I might bother to go see that.
re: Kansas City October 30, 2010 naka kon was good last year...not so sure about motaku. I am somewhat afraid it will be more of a vendor fest.
re: Kansas City October 30, 2010 So can we go ahead and decide on the last Saturday in October for our monthly? Oct. 30th, we can dress up (more than usual), it'll be totally tits.
I say we celebrate by going to Perkins. Just sayn, gooooood blueberry muffins and you gotta love that pie. ORLY? Yes.
Re: Kansas City October 30, 2010 o hai. Newfag here. I've been lurking for a while. Then I was waiting for the site to actually let me register. None of which adds up to a tin fuck as far as planning for the 30th. I'm planning on being there. Especially if the weather is still rocking like it has.
Re: Kansas City October 30, 2010 The date is getting very near. I'll be in KS in two weeks. I think any day should be alright on Halloween weekend, but I may need transportation from about Mission Rd and Sheridan if I remember the streets correctly. Anyone interested, PM me.
Re: Kansas City October 30, 2010 I went and bought an extra Guy Fawkes mask last night, so I've got an extra one if anyone needs. Also, if anyone needs a ride, lemme know.
Re: Kansas City October 30, 2010 Me possibly. I'm going to try to protest with you that morning if I can. And yes, I will need a ride.
Re: Kansas City October 30, 2010 I've got access to relatively unfettered printing resources at work. Any particular handbill requests? Let me know by Thursday so I can print them off before the weekend.
Re: Kansas City October 30, 2010 I have to be honest Over9000, my ride situation is looking very murky. :-(
Re: Kansas City October 30, 2010 I have a box of approximately 400 fliers so that won't be strictly necessary. They are a little tattered from being hauled all over the country, but I think that gives them character. I'll be honest, it's kind of a leap of faith to give a ride to a guy who has never been to a protest. Plus I don't know the area that well, but you might find someone eles who does. There is a bus stop right in front of the org if you want to go that route. It sounds like over9000OT is offering rides, but he's brand new too.
Re: Kansas City October 30, 2010 Fliers always look better with character. As long as that character isn't caek crumbs and suspicious wet spots.
Re: Kansas City October 30, 2010 I had not planned on wearing gloves Saturday. Now... probably... yes.
Re: Kansas City October 30, 2010 Well I mean we protest in the rain, so it happens. Anyway gloves are a good idea if it's halfway cold. Holding out a sign for a couple hours really makes your hands cold.
