*sigh* looks like we'll have to review this simple fact again:

COPS HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO LIE TO YOU

that's right! cops can tell you that if you your nigger ass tries to sit in the front of the bus, they might arrest you! no, they have no right to arrest you. yes, it would be thrown out before a prosecutor even got a chance to look at it, but they can still say they might arrest you.

the only way to get the cops to stfu and respect your rights is to go ahead and do whatever it is they're saying you'll get arrested for and let them arrest you. let's say that again for everyone skimming along: let them arrest you.

if, for added lulz, you were good little anons and brought d0x concerning the various laws, statutes, and permits to prove to the cop they can't arrest you, then you have a ready-made police harassment case any halfway competent lawyer will be able to pursue the moment they get your ass out of jail.

so remember, kids, the next time a police officer threatens to arrest you for exercising your rights as an american citizen, extend your wrists and say it loud, say it proud: "then arrest me, officer. i needed another badge to round out my collection."

@ LilDebbie: I'm sure you think that being a martyr will help further our cause, but I think that would be a last resort kind of tactic to take. We're not at war with the police. This is why Doug brought the law with him that day and had an extended conversation with a police officer, who in turn, told him that YES, he COULD walk on the sidewalk. Sometimes you have to school the police, who mostly don't know much more about the law than the average joe.

However, if they're STILL resistant to what the law REALLY is, and STILL insist on arresting you for being within the law just because they said they would, then I'm sure you could go ahead and disobey, as long as you know for sure you are in the right, and that cameras are rolling. Because if you don't get it on camera, they can just make something up and it will be your word against theirs, and who do you think a judge will trust more in that case?

Mark did in fact walk on the street before the permits were in effect, and the security present told him he would be arrested, Mark had the paperwork saying that was not true, walked, and rent a cop did nothing.
Mark had all permits on hand. Mark had phone numbers for people in departments on hand. But changes were made that evening. It is more complicated than I know to be honest, but each time the cult finds a work around to the permits, it gets figured out, and that loophole is something that will be closed when brought to the attention of permitting parties.

The problem is, many changes were made to the permits between the cult and various departments at the last minute....changes we were not privy to. When the on duty police got their orders, they told people from both sides and would NOT show the permit to protesters. Many departments are involved in street and sidewalk closures, and they don't seem to communicate very well with other. The cult uses this to their advantage. But we know so much more than we did even a few months ago. Getting the permitting depts. to know what is going on and how the cult manipulated this event is ongoing.

So, the LAPD could have actually arrested people in what they thought was good faith. And that might complicate matters legally. Our permit copy Vs. the Captain speaking to the on duty Sgt and telling him the permit has been changed or what the protesters were not allowed to do. The Sgt on the scene, Ward, actually did prevent one of the off-duty cops for hire from preventing a sign being held up high on the open portion of the street. Luckily, the anons who were told to bring down the sign KNEW their rights and knew the officer who told them to take down the sign was hired by the cult. Which unfortunately is difficult to tell, as off duty police working as security wear basically their normal uniforms

But even if you disagree....this permit abuse is not being ignored and forgotten. We have 2 more weekends to deal with this.

ps, it looked like less people went to this than the July 3rd event...and they were not dressed as nice

OK. I have been informed by an ex-SO that worked with James Earl Richardson (34 years old) at CC that he is the husband of Melanie Kai Richardson whose post is also the CC.

He is the son of Edwin George Richardson, the notoriously unethical P.I. for the cult and a long time Scilon. Edwin (who lists himself as Edward on personal legal documents) works from his office at 3820 Aloha Street in the Los Feliz area.

Edwin is listed with the State of Caliornia as "Edwin G. Richardson J.D. Investigative Services", Lic.# 18274, which expires on November 29. 2009.

LOL. There is no comparison between a member of a cult vs. a serial killer. Very ignorant argument there.

Many of the Scilions I worked with when I was on staff were very nice, idealistic, hard-working people. Some of them have left the cult and remain very nice people.

    You are free to disagree.

it was not a comparison...It means people (no matter who) CAN be nice to some people but evil to others

so did and are these nice people ALWAYS do nice things?

Twice someone called out Tim for getting a hard on while he was filming the female Anons. The second time, he basically raced back into the event where we couldn't see him. Lol.

Thanks Smurf for the pics and stuff. I like the T-shirt but it should probably be covered when not in use.

This may be one of the cult's biggest events but it seems a poor shabby depressed kind of affair to me. And the Scilons in attendance seem poor shabby depressed kind of people.

Re: July 11, Big Blue, Los Angeles

did you miss the part where i said cops can lie to you? that includes lying to you about supposed "changes" to the permit. fun fact: permits are public property and are subject to review by any citizen of the respective jurisdiction. also, there's a thing called public notice. i'm not sure if the law is wildly different in CA, but where i'm from, even the police need to give advance, public notice to close a street. there are no "last minute changes" as that would violate the public notice statute. and finally, if the cop says he can't show you the "real copy", he is fucking lying to you.

and cops arresting you "in good faith" has nothing to do with anything. it is the arresting officer's duty to know the law. ignorance is no excuse. if they arrest you on the basis of some bullshit their captain fed them, then it is the captain who will get fucked. point being is they still can't make up law. they enforce. that is the whole of what they can do.

    oh_snap.gif

    Now this is lol material.

Well if you want to climb up on the cross over a permit to close off a sidewalk that's your prerogative. But there are more pragmatic methods of handling the situation.

I would imagine that scientologists, like any group of people run the gamut from "that guy is a total asshole" to "he's the nicest guy you'll ever meet."

Re: July 11, Big Blue, Los Angeles

you say that as though the scilons aren't already saying that about us.

equating getting arrested with crucifixion? really now. here's a quick rundown on the horrors of being arrested:

    1) you get handcuffed. the handcuffs are kinda uncomfortable.
    2) you get put in the back of a squad car. zomg no leg room!!!!1!11!11!
    3) they make you take off your shoes and wear over-sized slippers to make sure you don't klerk yourself with your shoelaces.
    4) you get stuck in a holding cell where you will be very bored.
    5) eventually, someone comes to take your fingerprints. this sucks if you aren't already in the system. make sure you demand these records are purged after charges are dropped.
    6) you get put back in the holding cell where you will continue to be bored.
    7) eventually someone comes to tell you your arraignment date and let you out. oh noes you lost liek 6 hours of your life! someone call the waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaambulance!

i'm so so sorry. let's just same i'm a little sick of constantly reading people who are incredulous that cops keep pulling this shit and getting away with it.

THEY GET AWAY WITH IT BECAUSE YOU THINK COPS ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR JUSTICE IN THIS COUNTRY WHEN THAT ISN'T THEIR RESPONSIBILITY AT ALL. YOU, MR. AMERICAN CITIZEN, ARE SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR JUSTICE IN THIS COUNTRY.

Re: July 11, Big Blue, Los Angeles

It's a phrase commonly used to sarcastically mock someone who loves to play the martyr.

Oh I agree that citizens need to hold police accountable. I'm just saying that there are more effective means of doing so than trying to get arrested- at least when it comes to relatively trivial matters such as this.

you know has anyone pointed out scilons really had like 3 forms of defense? cops, security guards, and there own members being annoying. does anyone else find that kind of messed up for some reason?

Re: July 11, Big Blue, Los Angeles

okay, i'm curious what more effective means there are. trying to reason with the cops with d0x has produced fuckall with results. in fact, i'm pretty certain the most effective response to police dickdom thus far in chanology's history was epic nose guy getting arrested and subsequently hailed by the guardian.

but do tell, what are the more effective means?

Re: July 11, Big Blue, Los Angeles

And the ass-kissing bureaucrats at the L.A. Department of Public Works is asking the Board to rubber-stamp approval of the Scilon's permit again for this weekend totaling ignoring the complaints of 2 LRH residents, one of them a female apartment building owner who has been consistently harassed & threatened by the Scilons.

Just face it. No amount of valid complaints is going to get these ass-kissers do anything, but appease their friends in Scientology. They have, will constantly, provide lip service to critics and residents of LRH Way that continually have to suffer at the hands of Scientology.

And the Public Works Commission inspector that Mark asked to be present during the protest, whose services the Scilons hesitantly agreed to pay to monitor that the permit was strictly being enforced... that we never saw during the protest??

The Board is claiming that Tom Caraballo, Chief Street Services Investigator I, of the Investigation & Enforcement Division (213) 847-6000, made a sight inspection last Saturday and found Scientology was in full compliance of the permit as it was granted.

Here are 4 videos from later in the protest on July 11.

I apologize in advance for the sound. A combination of helicopters, traffic, the party and youtube audio degradation makes it hard to hear.

Well...you can see from the video that he supported the protesters in their right to free speech against the off-duty cop acting as security.

But still angry that the permit was not supported. The permit DID require the sidewalks to not be blocked continuously.
