Julian Assange What's next?

Well, yes, the diplomatic conventions in place prohibit the local police from just barrelling into the Embassy.
How they will get Julian out and safely to Ecuador is another story...

If granted asylum he will become a ward of Ecuador government & enjoy full diplomatic immunity and safe passage to a quiet rainforest, where the US special forces can troll his every fibre by dipping into their airspace in fighter jets and perhaps send Schwarzenegger in Predator style attack units to fuck with his head.

I think he is making a very grave error of judgement.

    o rly?
    What should he do, then?

It depends on how far they're willing to go.

    ^^ I doubt that far.

I guess it all depends on how willing Dr. Correa is to piss off the UK and the US. Fuck Sweden LOL

He might, but rest assured Correa won't let the US get near him. They might be an "underdeveloped third world" country, but when it comes to anti-western rhetoric they can pull of all the stunts.
As far as mental mind fuck I dont think the US can mess with him anymore or less than they are now regardless of where he is i n the world.

when is this going to be over with?

    it's only the beginning innit
  12. Anonymous Member

It will be hard for Ecuador to say "no" to Assange at this point, IMO.
  13. Anonymous Member

    Why would they want to?
  14. Anonymous Member

It's a PR win/win, if they say yes.
  15. Tourniquet Member

Yes, telling the unvarnished truth is much too radical.
Perhaps you'd like to try... Scientology? They deal in acceptable truths (AKA truthiness).

Assange is hosed. Diplomatic immunity applies only to credentialed diplomats. If the UK doesn't accept the credentials, there is no diplomatic immunity. If Ecuador tries to smuggle him out of the embassy, Assange is fair game. All that Assange can hope to do is hide in the embassy, which won't work if the UK expels the Ecuadorean mission.
