Is anyone able to get a photo of the store using Google Street View? It's probably on there, somewhere.

Is this England's richest scifag?

Apparently, John Mappin is very very upper level. One guy wanted to give me docs, alleging this fag makes big commission from sales of Scientology courses. (i.e. he's at the top of the pyramid)

(Not sure why we would need it though, he's an heir to the Mappin & Webb Jewellery empire). This offer of "evidence" was conditional - I declined. It could be bullshit - I never saw any evidence.

tl;dr lookout for this face, Londoners.

oh, btw, he's trying to launch some sort of music career. It would be cruel for people to contact him, pretending to be interested in his musical talents, just so they could get info. I hope no-one does that.

Ah, I thought I recognised the name. Yes, he joint-owns the Camelot hotel in cornwall (which I believe is staffed by foreign Sci's) and is a convicted fraudster. He is far from one of 'the most ethical people on the planet'. He definitely deserves a lot of anon attention.

It was talked about last year about getting someone into the hotel with a hidden camera system, but the costs/logistics ruled it out - plus the fact that most of the plymouth crew at the time were already face-fagged.

Ted Stourton is the other co-owner of the hotel. I just googled this - The second coming of Peter Jay | Mail Online - if you scroll down, it appears Nicholas Cage stayed at the hotel and experienced the 'Light Box'.... he's photographed next to Ted.

The lightbox is a box with a lightbulb in it by the way.... I have no idea why it is so mystical... lol

Then theres the light box, now this was really clever, its very well done, you are taken into the basement where you meet Ted. Ted takes you into a variety of rooms where the poetry is written and you then hear him strum a few chords as he put it. Which actually was a song. Then her takes your photo, engages you in relaxing conversation. You go into the light box where he turns off the lights and then displays his paintings or several of them. Then comes the clever part your critiquing them and he offers you them for sale, £90 for a small one, $190 for a large one, of course you feel pressured to buy one at that stage. My wife flatly refused and this is the point where we left. There are many reviews of the light box around the walls of the hotel saying its the best thing you will seen in Cornwall, my advice go to Newquay, the Eden project etc.
I was not surprised when I read the reviews that Scientology CD's and videos were being played constantly during our stay my wife and I were feeling that there was something not quiet right about the place. The photos claiming to be friends of Camelot virtually none of which were taken in the hotel were tacky.

During raid and man pulled up in a Merc. to ask what we were protesting about- I answered that we were protesting the abuses of the cult of Scientology, he then (in typical $cilon manner) said we didn't know what we're talking about and he'd been a $cielon for x number of years- so i told him I'd read OT1- OT8 and that L Ron wasn't coming back then asked him how much money he'd given the "church". Suprisingly he told me- about £100, 000 "which is nothing to me as I'm worth £50 million" then drove his ego-laden arse off!

The latest reviews of the hotel are lulzworthy... and well worth the read. They talk of musty rooms, terrible paintings, 'pod' bathrooms that smell of wee, and many go into detail about the egotistical nature of the owners.... however, this one stood out:

As said before, the owners (John and Ted) are Scientologists AND very anti-conflict. My stay there was completely ruined by two separate incidents:

1. Owner John Mappin (heir to the Mappin & Webb Jewelers and soft porn star) approached me in the bar while I was conducting some telework business and pressed me about my work. I politely tried to avoid giving too much away but he was persistent. When he found out that I work in the defense industry, he launched into an assault with such things as how could I sleep at night knowing that I made things that kill people, etc. If it were not so late and everything else in town being booked, I would have left and charged back my credit card!

2. Co-owner Ted Stourton is a reasonably gifted artist and his works are displayed throughout the hotel. I do like some of it but some is also rather "out there". All the time we were at the hotel, we were told how magnificent and life-changing the "Light Box" was, how we NEEDED to see the Light Box. Well, the Light Box is a tour of the dank basement of the hotel where Ted does some of his work. He is a very good guitarist as well. We were serenaded, allowed to doodle on a partially finished painting, and then came the Light Box! You are taken into a bare room with a contraption (best description is it looks like an old front projection big screen TV). He turns off the lights and starts softly reciting obscure poetry/chants while placing one after another of his works on the Light Box while varying the light shining on the paintings. Immediately after he finishes, the hook comes out and the sales pitch starts. That also ruined an otherwise tolerable episode.

I will not go back and I recommend that anyone who does go there, don't tell them ANYTHING about your job unless you are a fellow Scientologist and are approved!

Some reviews of the porn movie from Amazon:

terrible movie,plot,scenes. Most of the movie shot in the dark while its raining. Full of bondage,whips,leathers, and none of it goes anywhere. The only decent scene in the whole movie only lasts about 3 minutes, and surrounded by nothing worthwhile.

the graphic is blurry and fuzzy. The plot is extremely stupid and hard to understand what's going on and don't know what's the point of the movie. Little actions, and the music is terrible. The good lesbian theme at the end(last less than 2 minutes) is captured in a dark rainy day and the graphic is really horrible, unable to show the details. I won't recommend to anyone, i bought it and watched it, and has to fastfoward several parts. After i viewed it i have the intention to throw it away!

I just finished all of the reviews on the site listed earlier, and they fall into 2 categories:

1) False marketed ones
2) Honest ones.

The honest ones are nearly all very negative. We phoned up the hotel last night with one US anon pretending enquiring about room rates and prices. There were two types of rooms - £39 and £69 per person per night. It sounds as though the cheaper rooms are the ones with the pod toilets, painted-shut windows with newspaper filling the gaps and the whole room smelling of grandmother. The person who answered the phone was definitely foreign, and upon probing, sounded very much to be a believer of LRH tech. I've heard reports from some ex-sci's that the hotel is used a lot to try and recruit tourists, and that most (if not all) of the staff are Scientologists. There are lots of Scientology books and CD's at the hotel for the guests to read.

We asked about the 'Light Box', and were just told "It is a surprise for our guests". No other information was forthcoming, despite prodding.

The hotel on the other hand was laughable. Camelot Castle is a big, imposing building that is over looking the Altantic, almost a blot on the landscape but it was built in 1899 before planning permission laws was in force. Unfortunately most of the hotel feels like it hasn’t been decorated since the 70s and all the nice Victorian features that are left are falling into ruin. The cloakroom/toilet by the bar area was a mixture of pink tiles (some of which were falling off the walls) and a beautiful original Victorian mosaic tiled floor. The bar area was straight out of the 70s and most of the communal areas were thread bare. The bedrooms didn’t fair much better either. We had a deluxe refurbished room but for the price we paid for it, it sure didn’t feel like deluxe. There was non of the extras that normally is provided in a hotel like a box of tissues, shower gel, a floor mat for the shower, an alarm, welcome pack, biscuits, beds made everyday. My in-laws had cheaper rooms at £40 a night each and they were hideous with 50s style wallpaper and 1940s furniture. The furniture could be nice if it wasn’t in such bad shape.

The owners had decided that to spruce up the place by hanging lots of art work by one of the owners. Now if it was good art then I wouldn’t have minded but it wasn’t. Basically most of it my nieces could have painted. Also there was abundance of photos around the place of the two owners – John Mappin (heir to the Mappin & Webb jewellery empire) and Ted Stourton (the artist). Also, lots of poems and newspaper articles about the owners were all over the lounge areas. One evening I did some research about the place and found out that the owners are members of the Scientology. No wonder there was photos of Tom Cruise and John Travolta about the place. Maybe also explains why the place has been in a refurbishment program since 2001 without much success – all their money must go to the Scientology. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone but I will say that the staff were really nice and helpful and if the rooms were a bit cheaper instead of £130 a night for a fairly decent room then I wouldn’t be complaining so much.

Im a little person and I could not move to get changed in the bathroom!The beds where hard and so old they looked 2nd hand.
They artist whom I also met was very rude and the hotel was used more for his own exibition of work than anything else.
Artwork in which it looked like a child had done.
There website is very misleading!!
The place was a joke I do believe if a hotel inspector did come through they would shut that place down in a second…

Hey, I’m not surprised at all with your opinions about that hotel. I worked there for a while and hated it. Hotel’s owners are freaks. I wouldn’t recommend that hotel to a foe. cheers

For those who don't want to click through to the link, the video turns out to be a Palestinian cleric saying very bad things about Jews and Israel.

Weird that religious tolerance applies to Jews, but doesn't apply to Muslims saying very bad things about Jews. I'm guessing Scientologists saying very bad things about psychiatrists and the mentally ill is religious tolerance, and little guys in faux navy uniforms beating people up is religious tolerance, but peaceful protest is hate speech.

Yes, annoyingly enough (as a Ron Paul supporter myself), they were.

Thankfully, most RP supporters were/are not Scilons (I didn't even know about their support until after the whole election cycle, when I found out about Chanology). Just into freedom from big gummint. That's a broad category of people, though, which does include the Scilons... for their own reasons.

You think that was bad? You should try listening to Ted Stourton's album Silverwind: Ted Stourton's "Camelot - By Way Of..." - His new album's minisite : Proof that Scientology works and itt helps people.

Track 5 did it for me, and I had to hammer 9" nails into my ears to stop the pain.

Unless she has had a lot of plastic surgery, the princess Irina is not Irina Mappin. I just googled for some pics of her, and she looks in her 20's/early 30's, whereas the Princess Irina is 55 or so...

Here she is and she is definitely not a 55 year old princess. And SH absolutely would not go out of their way to roll out the red carpet because "the Mappins were coming." Instead, the SH staff rather dreaded it because Mappin was considered such a pain in the ass. Yes, even scifags thought he was eccentric and weird. I never heard of him trying to pass her off as a princess, but if he ever did such a thing the SH execs wouldn't have given a shit because of Mappin's reputation with them as being an embarrassing oddball (even in the scieno world).
