Niece of Scientology leader plans tell-all book

NEW YORK — A niece of Scientology leader David Miscavige (mihs-CAYV'-ij) is planning a tell-all memoir about the church.

Jenna Miscavige Hill has been a frequent critic of the Church of Scientology since publicly breaking with it in 2005. She has a deal with HarperCollins Publishers imprint William Morrow for "Beyond Belief: My Secret Life inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape."

Morrow announced Monday the book will come out in January. It says the 28-year-old Hill will reveal "strange and disturbing" details about growing up in the church and will provide a firsthand account of Scientology's "upper ranks."

David Miscavige chairs the board that oversees the church, founded in the 1950s by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard.

Scientology teaches followers they're immortal spiritual beings who live on after death. Church members include Tom Cruise and John Travolta.

    Holy crap!
    this is getting good.
Jenna, if you are reading this, don't let them dog you or get under your skin. Report every weird car you see hanging around, every phone call or anything else suspicious right away to authorities and beef up your security.
Of course you already know all this. :)
But if they make any moves against you, be sure to repoort it and get it in the media right away. It's one of the best ways to shine a light on their shennanigans.

Yeah, it's about time. The wikipedia article is created March 10, 2008, and survived many slaughters. (and I think my sock created it too, who cares.)

If Shelley's still alive, she'll get her turn, as well...

Can't wait for Miscavige to do his Peter Lorre impression:

In the UK, the Daily Mail has published a much more detailed report on this, at

We were also required to write down all transgressions . . . similar to a sin in the Catholic religion.

'After writing them all down, we would receive a meter check on the Electropsychometer to make sure we weren't hiding anything, and you would have to keep writing until you came up clean. This is from the age of 5 until I was 12.'

    seconded, but imagine the in-laws!

yeah, Daily Mail lurves anything Scientology at the moment. And to be fair they do a pretty good job of reporting.

Threats from Davey's lawyers re their "Where is Mrs Miscavige?" story can't have endeared Scientology to the editorial team at the Mail.

Anyone else think there's a resemblance between Jenna and Connor? Very similar mouth, chin with dimple and eye shape? connor-cruise.jpg article-2208353-15330B2C000005DC-31_306x423.jpg

Scientology is Having a Total Moment | Observer

    By Kara Bloomgarden-Smoke

Scientology head honcho David Miscavige’s niece has a book deal for a tell-all about the organization. Tony Ortega, former editor-in-chief of The Village Voice, is trying to get a book deal about the subject (rather than just blogging about it at the alt-weekly). The Master is in theaters. There is ongoing interest in Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes (and a Vanity Fair cover story).

William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins, will publish Jenna Miscavige Hill’s “Beyond Belief: My Secret Life inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape” in January. As the title suggests, the memoir is about growing up in — and leaving — the religion and will include “strange and disturbing” details about the church and a “first hand” account of Scientology’s “upper ranks.”

Writing about Scientology is practically becoming its own industry. Maybe one that’s not as profitable as the religion itself, but an industry nonetheless.
