We had Police and Pop Tarts and Scientologists and the local People Love us!!!!!!!!!!!! We got there and it was cold and the parking lot was sort of full, but not really full. Not fastest growing religion full at least We observed a scientologsist carrying plywood out of his van. Aqua and I joked about whatever arts and crafts could this be. We took some ore pictures and there they are I'm too lazy to flip those around sorry guys. I had a first and that was a sicentologists drove by and waived money at us?!?! That led to laughing and me skipping to the song they are coming to take me away. However, then srs biz happened the police appeared! They drove by us looked at us in a boring manner and then 2 of the cars pulled into the cults parking lot and another pulled into the parking lot next door. They all got out of their cars and one officer went in It's hard to see, but the other police car is to the left. It was a k-9 unit. I didn't get to see the puppy though After the officer was done talking to the cult, he drove over to see us and the other two officers left. Basically a the day or so before someone had broken into the cult's building. I'm guessing the plywood was to patch a window? One of the cult members decided that one day they were broken in and the next day the protesters are there across the street so obviously in cult logic that meant we must of been the ones that broke in. The police let us know as far as they were concerned, there was no link between these two events and we were just practicing our first amendment rights. The rest of the protest went something like this...
And post number two because We had a 3 p3ople leave in a car with a NC tag. I'm pretty sure the female with them is who used the cult logic to call the police on us. I only saw one person dressed in NOI atire. The best thing of all was when someone told us to be careful. He pointed at the cult building and said "They do terrible things to people who don't like them". It seems the cult's reputation cannot be suppressed. Also lots of honks and also pop tarts! I'm betting Aqua skips posting his pictures again, but I thought my sign was sort of funny and he has the only proof of this
Always a pleasure to see some on-the-ground reportage, goes so well with the morning cup-o' java Y'all ROCK!
Okay, so I forgot, but dammit I am posting in this thread. Took a buttload of pix, and never dumped the Nov shots from the camera so I have to sort and edit (mostly cropping) them still, but they will be posted. "Pix or it didn't happen" and all that.
The fact is this: We have two kinds of members who protest. The ones like me, who are behind the screen, doing the technical work mostly, and the ones like you, who spread our word in the public. The question is who is most exposed, and to be honest, I do not know anymore.
you're new and ravenanon is a seasoned campaigner who knows how to handle any situation when protesting.
I want to apologize, I wrote more and it didn't make it on to the screen. I've had some net issues and I was typing on my tiny phone keyboard. As the cult locally works to move into its new digs, I'm spending time sending out letters to anyone in that area to let them know what a nasty being the cult is. I think people can pull off doing both behind the screen and on the street protests. If you are near a cult location just mail/email too or hand deliver postcards, letters, or any information to the local businesses, schools, etc to let them know about their neighbors. I used to leave a lot of youfoundthecards everywhere and I miss that site so much.It made my life easier. I appreciate anyone who protests the cult in a legal and positive manner no matter what form it takes. When we had someone walking by with groceries yell across the street to be careful because the cult isn't nice to those who speak out against them to us, I really wanted to ask how he found that out. I'm actually curious how people learn about the cult's behavior. It is hard to yell across all those lanes so I just thanked him.
You would be surprised. Sometimes its just instinct, as it was in my teens as I watched them stalk myself and my friends while we hung out in our city mall month after month. I gave it little to no thought for years subsequently, until a scientology abuse infected someone close to me. I googled my suspicions held previously about it being a cult and guess what I found?... wwp.
