Is joking about rape acceptable or unacceptable? Discuss here

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Anonymous, Apr 18, 2013.

Actually, YOU are trolling, now. No one wants YOU to do anything (well, ok, maybe STFU). Last I checked, all of this was optional. You don't run things. You don't get to decide what flies.

We are doing things. If you don't like it, DIAF.

most of the "derail" could be moved to a thread "is joking about rape acceptable?" it's perfectly valid meta discussion imho.

Works for me! Let it be what it is. Trolling trolls will troll. Takes more than that to deter me.

We've already been through the whole "Anonymous is not just one thing" discussion. Same applies here.

I have no qualms about it. If there is no problems with it, I'll do it.

Done. Now have at it. (Note: If I have moved post here in error, I'll return it back.)

That is a call to censorship.

I'm quite capable of understanding the mindset of histrionic idiots who are incapable of discussing anything without emotional outbursts and knee-jerk reactions.

    Make your mind up.
  6. Some "free speech" is just vile crap which degrades both the speaker and the listener... but don't give it too much thought while you troll.
  7. Malory Member

You know fuck all about trolling but then you and several others also seem to know fuck all about dealing with victims of sexual violence.

What you want is a circlejerk where you can exclude anyone who doesn't fall in line with the group think. You don't want help? I don't remember offering it to a bunch of dilettantes who will probably do more harm than good before washing their hands of the whole thing and rushing off to jump on the next bandwagon.

I don't run things but if anyone tries to fuck around with freedom of speech and expression then I'm going to say something. If the damned Scientologists can't shut me up, I don't rate your chances at all.

Go eat a bag of dicks.
  9. Hi dumb troll / sock.
A convicted criminal rapist was making "jokes" about rape.
It was not really jokes, but degradation coming from a psychopath.
    That is not funny.
    Period.
  10. Malory Member

Oh for fuck's sake will you stop acting like a newfag? Of course this account is a sock - I don't see you posting under your real name.

If you're trying to imply something else then you should lurk moar. Plenty of people on here know e and have met me at raids.

Ok. Then what is up with this snapping at me when I am agreeing with you?

Interesting you only added half of the quote...

    I said:

I don't think that could be any clearer. It's not up to me to decide because my taste varies from yours and others.

    As for:

Well... that only proves the part about humor being subjective.

  14. @Malory: The "you" in my post was not referring to you, Malory... but if the shoe fits, fuck it.
  15. Anonymous Member

I hate jail rape attaboys. Don't get how that is civilized. Or how it's justice. Seems majorly fucked up to me.
  16. Anonymous Member

    Jeez, Malory. You mad, bro?
  17. Malory Member

No, my mother had me tested.
  18. Maybe it's that 'Malory' got raep'd, and now she's all butthurt... oh, wait.
  19. Anonymous Member

Thank god this has it's own thread.

the sensitivity to the rape jokes is why people tell rape jokes. I find the best policy is to ignore people who are out to get a reaction by offending, or laugh and move on.

    I'll just leave this here:

    http://kateharding.info/2012/07/13/15-rape-jokes-that-work/

    -Wanda Skyes-

    -Sarah Silverman-

    -Dane Cook-

    Just a few examples.

I'm more afraid of people trying to tell me what I should or should not laugh at than rapists. What they both have in common though is that they are control freaks.

Us mod-cunts have no intention of censoring either rape jokes or discussion of rape jokes.

Some user-cunts feel that that such jokes should be censored.

But they are wrong, because we're not the thought police, and so that's not what we're going to do.

    You're preaching to the choir.

    preaching-to-the-choir1.jpg

A circle-jerk where we discuss what forms of language are or are not acceptable for us to use, is not something that I'd find interesting, or think productive.

    Nobody is being censored here.

No posts from this section have ever been deleted, or even domed, so far as I know. Your hissy fit is about nothing at all.

Agreed 100%. That's an important point.

This forum is not a suitable place for rape victims to seek help and support. That's something which takes specialist skills, knowledge and training, and isn't really at all suitable for the public Internet, and is even less suitable for WWP and Anonymous specifically.

Hence this stickied thread at the top of the forum:

    https://whyweprotest.net/community/threads/rape-victim-help-and-resources.110478/

Please feel free to add more resources to that thread, if you know of any good ones.

I hope not, but you might be right. Still, it doesn't hurt to try.
If you find the topic uninteresting then you know what to do.

If your view is that WWP ought to remain Scientology, to the exclusion of all other topics, then I suggest you start a thread in Community -> General Discussion, where it'll get more visibility than here within an existing thread in Rape.

you never said the opposite you said "That includes being able to make jokes about anything" saying in terms rape jokes are OK. yes it's true we know nothing about you and the part about where not taking the time to read what you're saying well thats bullshit cause i read what you posted and there are things YOU'RE missing in what THEY are saying. Also there was nothing on cencorship at all it was just a thread saying are the joke right or wrong NOTHING on saying should rape jokes be cencored you jumped the boat thinking that we where saying rape jokes should be cencored.

    Let it go, dude.

All this "he said she said" stuff doesn't matter a whit.

Better to spend the energy on what we can actually do in practise - e.g. see other threads...

i follow plenty of other threads one more not gonna kill me
