    Infractions Are Now Visible

You can now see when a post has earned the writer an infraction or a warning.

At the bottom right-hand corner of the post, a red card indicates an infraction has been levied and a yellow card indicates a warning.

Please check before reporting a post.

    Edit: Thank you, da5id

    Second edit:

After receiving feedback from members in this thread, a solution was found so that members infractions are not generally visible (which they were initially). Hence, the first few pages principally address concerns that are no longer relevant.

    HOW DARE YOU!

Now we're gonna have people bragging about how bad they are, and bragging rights. Major infractors will be elevated to the status of elephant headed gods with too many arms! We will shower them with gold and rose petals, and maybe paint their toenails gold.

    Bad idea...

    Look what happened to Day.Watch........

PS I work on a "rolling infraction basis", and always ensure that I incurr a new infraction or two just as the 'old' ones expire ;)

    Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

Is it true that if you get over 15 infraction points in one go, you automatically get Mod status?

(I heard that's how Sue got his, lol)

Do you not think that such behaviour might itself warrant infraction?

Now I won't have to anymore, but I'll still do it from time to time.

Infractions are now listed below the poster's username on the left hand side panel ;)

Mod edit: Not anymore, they're not.

    Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

Who currently has the most infractions?

And can we have a 'top 10' chart on the homepage?

    Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

I agree, this is a really stupid idea.

Many of us are not here to troll each other and won't be wearing infractions as a badge of pride, but rather as shame, laid open to others to see - and may well put people off from participating more if they're used to the way that forums really work.

I've received several black marks over the time I've been here - both for pathetic reasons, both of which have been reversed when challenged, which means they weren't correctly issued in the first place.

I seriously wonder sometimes about this place.

    Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

    Hey dildos.

It's not a fucking badge of honor, it's a way of showing that THIS IS AN INAPPROPRIATE POST, as well as the reasoning behind it.

Honestly, the only thing we can ever hope for on this website is that the first response to a post is an intelligent one, else you all tend to spiral right off the cliff like fucking lemmings.

    Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

    Baz,

90% of my infractions have been for dubiously pathetic reasons, to the point where I can't even be arsed to bother contesting them any more.

    1. Infractions also take no account of posting volume and length of time on the forum (i.e. you and I have made circa 3k posts each, so the probability of infractions increases proportionate to the number of posts)

    2. A minority of Mods have major attitude problems and generally pick on the older and more established members in an effort to 'throw their power about' and 'vent their spleens' (and we all know who these particular Mods are!)

    3. Quite amusing that when I impersonated Day.Watch for a few weeks, I was actually given 'junior Mod' status.

During this time, I treated everyone respectfully and with common sense. And there was no need for infractions (although I did kick a couple of people to set an example, lol)

No dear, that would be the four horsemen of the apocalypse
  24. Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

Do they stay forever or do they expire when the infraction expires. 'cuz if you're looking for a slap on the wrist, then it should expire. If it's permanent, then it is a badge of honor.

    Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

Baz, anonymous posting should partly solve the shame issue.

    Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

And can infractions be "bribed away" with server donations? lolz
  28. Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

:( We'll have to change that so we'll match!
  29. TinyDancer Member

da5id, how hard would it be to make a change so the user's infractions not to pop up under their name?

    Not yours. LOLZ!

    Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

I've gone thru the options and don't see a way of changing that, so it would require code modification within vbulletin.
  31. Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

I have another quick question. This whole thing seems set up to shame people into not getting infractions....but Anonymous is shameless. D: How I shame interwebs?
  32. Anon-007 Member

    Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

    You can haz caek ;)
  33. Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

spiralling off the cliff like lemmings is how this whole thing got started non?

srsly, as mods you cannot believe for one pica-second that this is a good idea... trolls are already going for max infraction ratings, score boards are being suggested....

congrats... you've created a troll league. well done.

    *sighs*

You're talking about IRC in which case you were made an "op", not a Moderator. And it was done because it was funny.

    IRC != WWP

    Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

Shame is not the aim. It's more about letting people know when a matter has been dealt with.
  38. zebrafaced Member

    Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

Edit: Cocks and such, as question was answered above.
  39. SickLab Member

    Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

it's also about you saying: Oh shi- this fag got an infraction for this retarded post, maybe I should think twice before doing the same. or something.
  40. Re: Infractions Are Now Visible

But it doesn't do that. It doesn't say what the matter is that has been dealt with or what was wrong or anything. It just shows that "someone" did "something" wrong and now there's a number.
