Hubbard's Birthday Protest in Toronto on March 13th

I thought I should start this thread in advance. This should give whoever can come and attend this event enough time to decide if they're going to be able to participate or not (for which/whatever reason).

Hubbard was born in 1911 on March 13th.. It is time we celebrated outside of the Org.

March is comin' up soon. Let's gear up, get ready, maek signs and P-A-R-T-Y on this date. Music needed, somebody, if they can, must be able to bring a boombox capable of playing cassettes, I have the rick astley tape I can bring with me.

HAPPY PLANNING!!!! I will be moar than glad to attend.

That is seriously old school, Lo-Tek.

Re: Hubbard's Birthday Protest in Toronto on March 13th

It may be old school, Lo-Tek, but it's very reliable:

    - No iTunes or software needed to use
    - Playable in any stereo, walkman with a cassette player
    - Cheap
    - Easy to use
    - Excellent quality (In most cases. *Depending on the recording situation, loudness, cleanliness of tape heads, equipment used, etc)

Not to forget, small enough to fit in your pocket with the walkman.
  8. Re: Hubbard's Birthday Protest in Toronto on March 13th

I'll be there unless something comes up.

Do we need a decentralized planning forum for this? Looks like the old one died.
  11. Re: Hubbard's Birthday Protest in Toronto on March 13th

I don't srsly think we need a decentralized forum, but IDK. The old ones seem dead, though, yeah.

Re: Hubbard's Birthday Protest in Toronto on March 13th

Holy moly, the 13th is coming up faster than I imagined it to be.

I don't agree on a decentralized forum, we all know how that went. It faded. This place is ultra big, it's lasting much longer than any other planning forum (there's forums that're very or somewhat active, i could be wrong), if it's planned here, it's better off kept here. This site is constantly read by twitter followers (@wwpthreads) and major search engines.

No kidding. I'm drowning in work but I still intend to show.

Re: Hubbard's Birthday Protest in Toronto on March 13th

So is this Actually going to happen, or is it just pure conjecture?
I have a few friends who are interested in coming, so I want to know if it's happening before i give them all the details.

On a side note (and i know this is off-topic, but what isn't in an Anonymous forum?) can somebody tell me a location where i can buy a Guy Fawkes (V for Vendetta) mask in Mississauga, Ontario? I've checked a few places and had no luck, and yes ik that it's not mandatory, but i just want one. Anywhere between around Square One (if you don't know where that is, Rathburn Rd) and Lakeshore blvd (if you don't know where that is and you live in the GTA, seriously, get out more!)

And in case you're wondering, yes i'm new, and ive been known to leave long posts like this.

Suggestion: You might find a community style BBS to be a VERY useful thing. People want to be able to yak, exchange ideas, jokes, memes, etc. You can get PHPBB for *FREE* and I'm sure you can find free web hosting.

When Montreal got as low as 5 Anons, it was the fact that we had a BBS that kept things going. Now that we've been getting more media coverage, we get more people showing up at the raids, so we're in the 15-20 range.

As for Musics, cassettes are fail because they tend to break. IPods are expensive $150-200, so you might get a cheap walkman type player, which is about $40. I use that setup plus my computer's speaker system to act as a boom box. It's a little cumbersome, but it works.

Since Caturday IS L Ron's birthday, you could get some media people to show up because you're celebrating Ron's cult fail. More media = moar Anons. Trufax.

Montreal uses 1/4 page flyers in bright yellow (lemon) color, both to save money for printing and because Yellow attracts attention. You can print 500 double sided flyers (making 2,000 lemon mini-pamphlets) for about $80. All you need is a cheap USB thumb drive and a document in PDF format to take to the printers.

Make sure your flyer lists your web site. If you're going to set up a PHPBB system, make sure your wiki has an entry on it saying the BBS is coming soon, and put a link on the wiki pointing to the BBS when you're done.

Pick lulzy up-tempo music for the raid. If you need add ons for your costumes, go to the dollar store for cheap party hats, Irish hats, or whatever turns your crank.

Good luck. It's time for Toronto to start putting out some more epic wins.

Re: Hubbard's Birthday Protest in Toronto on March 13th

any idea on the actual numbers we should be having for Saturday?
  26. Anonymous Member

Re: Hubbard's Birthday Protest in Toronto on March 13th

    ^ Good ideas.

Also, be sure to mention to passers-by at the raids that the Toronto Org has a 50% property tax reduction even though Scientology is not a Registered Charity in Canada.

quick question. mostly to the kit.anons if they're around. but is the reason our protest is on the 15 cause all of you are going to t.dot? i'd hate to be the only faggot outside the CoS on the 13th if that's the case

PS if anyone has flyers or pamphlets could you please email them my way. i'm so tired of getting cock-blocked by Go-daddy.

Reminds me, I need to make a new sign. If I find any yellow paper somebody threw out...

Scavenging is my way to getting signs made with free resources that nobody wants anymore (or cares about)

Is everyone getting excited? It's almost here!!!

Sitting on my bed making my sign, have to go get my flyers copied tomorrow, but I am having a hell of a time finding somewhere near me that actually does photocopies, grrrrrrr

The wet isn't too bad, but it sounds like it's going to be damned windy! Adjust flyer and sign tech accordingly.

Re: Hubbard's Birthday Protest in Toronto on March 13th

The wind won't rip down the twist-tie held sign once it's on the poll. Long live the stronghold :D

Re: Hubbard's Birthday Protest in Toronto on March 13th

Good news, I have a 1.5x speed 1GB xD card for the digital camera and 6 charged batteries. This means, no garbled 160p video, but 240p. Since it's going to be rainy, no camcorder, which means, no HD video. Might just use the phone to record it all or only the moments needed.

FYI, I have been sticker raiding the subway cars (overlaying the ads), stations (jane, runnymede, queen, bloor.) and buses, streetcars. At most times, it's 'carding. I did manage to get the community centre I attend for jam sessions stickered twice. Even the outside and the Toronto Public Library sign facing the street. Not easy in the rain or windy weather. All of it done.. Unmasked. Today, a senior approached me on the subway home, he wasn't a scilon. He was surprised I was the one putting the cards up in crevices between ads & signs on the subway.

Can't wait to meet everybody who is able to show up tomorrow. Gonna make it with 6-7 hours sleep, better than 3-4 hours.

I feel so full of jinx and fail* on my behalf. Upon falling asleep, I *forget to turn on the alarm, wake up at 3pm.

I hope everything went well, that all of you's had a great protest (despite the windy-rainy weather). I hope to see everyone next week or the week after next.
