Well, Skyler is still being pretty crabby, but I managed to get her to show me something besides her cleavage that's worth sharing.

Bing has recently replaced Google as her default search engine. She says it works quite well, and links to news search results that contain phrases in quotes like the one below can easily be copied and pasted into Facebook, Twitter, and forums.

This search provides an easy way to find the latest news stories that contain references to Miscavige, Narconon, Scientology, Tom Cruise, Travolta, or WikiLeaks. Try it:

    www.bing.com/news/search?q=Miscavige+OR+Narconon+OR+Scientology+OR+%22Tom+Cruise%22+OR+Travolta+OR+WikiLeaks&p1=[NewsVertical+SortByDate%3d%221%22]

Keeping this search open in a browser tab will allow you to refresh it whenever you want to see what's new.

I hope this search helps those of you who like to stay informed as to what's happening. It should continue to work fine indefinitely, unless Hank finds out about it.

Here's a YouTube search that provides the most-recent videos with titles or descriptions that include references to Miscavige, Narconon, Scientology, or Travolta:

    www.youtube.com/results?search_type=videos&search_query=Miscavige+OR+Narconon+OR+Scientology+OR+Travolta&search_sort=video_date_uploaded

What appear to be the first two search results, and the last one on each page, are paid ads.

(Including the phrase "Tom Cruise" in the search provides too many false matches, thanks to the endless keyword spamming that's done by people on YouTube who are desperate to have their videos seen.)

This search above is what I use to find new videos to add to the What people are saying about Scientology on YouTube thread, at https://whyweprotest.net/community/...e-saying-about-scientology-on-youtube.104399/

You can also grab the Google and Bing results in RSS format. (Bing kept changing their URL, hopefully they've settled down.)

This is how I do it, and in recent days GoogleNews as done something flaky such that keyword searches on Scientology don't update in the browser in real time like they used to when a shitstorm wave breaks. But the RSS feed seems to still catch everything right away.

And of course there's the Xenu-directory.net webnews.

Don't know if it covers everything, but it is most useful.

Nice! Thanks for the tips on keeping up with stuff!
A bit off topic, search engines, I have become a bit miffed at Google of late, many repeat results from same sites and having to sift through pages to find the seached topic from different sources, someone suggested trying DuckDuckGo, I like the way it shows search results without much repetition, now added to my search bars as default :)

(This thread should be stickied in Media imho )

I wonder where you find the time to keep us all posted about all COS news, TWG

Or wait, I guess you stopped making all kinds of drugs... :p

A lot of sites are letting their RSS slide, which is a pain for auto-scanning.

aaah yes, the Interwebs is full of lovely short cuts. Thank you for sharing. :)

When it comes to search engine selection and usage, my basic attitude is, "why limit yourself to just one when they ALL have their particular qualities and strengths?"

Some of the more "privacy oriented" search tools, like duckduckgo or ixquick, are certainly worth adding to your bag of tricks, IMHO. Some info:

    duckduckgo.com

Privacy-oriented search tool, meaning that they apparently do not collect or share any of your personal information. Their website states that that they dont track you, as opposed to G00gle where your privacy is essentially up for grabs. They also have a .onion address.

    some useful links:

    web address: https://duckduckgo.com/
    onion address: http://3g2upl4pq6kufc4m.onion
    search syntax: https://duck.co/help/results/syntax
    search params: https://duckduckgo.com/params
    create: http://duckduckhack.com/

    ixquick.com

Privacy-oriented search tool, meaning they apparently do not collect or share any personal information. The search results page gives you the option of opening a web page through the ixquick proxy server, which is useful if you do not wish to touch a site directly.

    some useful links:

    url: https://www.ixquick.com/
    syntax: https://ixquick.com/eng/power-search-techniques.html
    advanced search: https://www.ixquick.com/eng/advanced-search.html

    startpage.com

Privacy-oriented search tool, meaning they apparently do not collect or share any personal information. Lets you conduct G00gle searches (if you must), but with the added privacy protection of the Ixquick search engine. As with ixquick, if you do not wish to touch a site directly, you have the option of opening a web page through the ixquick proxy server.

    some useful links:

    url: https://startpage.com/
    syntax: https://startpage.com/eng/power-search-techniques.html
    advanced: https://startpage.com/eng/advanced-search.html

some live examples may be in order...

    duckduckgo:

The keyword "news" is meant to trigger duckduckgo's "instant-answer" news results. Try it for yourself.

syntax: news Miscavige OR Narconon OR Scientology

webbit: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=news Miscavige OR Narconon OR Scientology

We can further modify this search using the "site:" operator to match domain names.

syntax: site:scientologynews.org news Miscavige OR Narconon OR Scientology

webbit: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site:scientologynews.org news Miscavige OR Narconon OR Scientology

Or, we could remove something annoying using the minus (-) operator.

syntax: news Miscavige OR Narconon OR Scientology -scientologynews.org

webbit: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=news Miscavige OR Narconon OR Scientology -scientologynews.org

Or to search for data in a different way, we could even try asking for a specific file type using the "filetype:" operator.

syntax: Miscavige OR Narconon OR Scientology filetype:xls

webbit: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Miscavige OR Narconon OR Scientology filetype:xls

Or just mess around with different options to test your mileage.

syntax: site:.gov Miscavige OR Narconon OR Scientology filetype:xls !safeoff

webbit: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=site:.gov Miscavige OR Narconon OR Scientology filetype:xls

    ixquick.com

A simple search using the AND OR.

    syntax: +Miscavige (Dwarf OR Midget)

    webbit: https://ixquick.com/do/metasearch.pl?cmd=process_search&query=+Miscavige (Dwarf OR Midget)

To match results to a particular domain type, use "domain:" operator.

    syntax: domain:gov Scientology AND Tax

    webbit: https://ixquick.com/do/metasearch.pl?cmd=process_search&query=domain:gov Scientology AND Tax

To match results to a specific domain name, use the "host:" operator.

    syntax: host:whyweprotest.net +Scientology

    webbit: https://ixquick.com/do/metasearch.pl?cmd=process_search&query=host:whyweprotest.net +Scientology

Read the docs and see what you can come up with.

syntax: +fax (Miscavige OR Narconon OR Scientology)

webbit: https://ixquick.com/do/metasearch.p...y= fax (Miscavige OR Narconon OR Scientology)

    startpage.com

Basic search to contain at least one of these keyword.

syntax: (Miscavige OR Narconon OR Scientology OR Freewinds)

webbit: https://startpage.com/do/metasearch...vige OR Narconon OR Scientology OR Freewinds)

    Searching for contact info.

syntax: +Email (Miscavige OR Narconon OR Scientology OR Freewinds)

webbit: https://startpage.com/do/metasearch...vige OR Narconon OR Scientology OR Freewinds)

Seeking death ships and angry midgets.

    syntax: +Location (Miscavige OR Freewinds)

    webbit: https://startpage.com/do/metasearch.pl?cmd=process_search&query=+Location (Miscavige OR Freewinds)

$ci news from past 24 hours.

    webbit: https://startpage.com/do/metasearch.pl?cmd=process_search&query= +Scientology (News)&with_date=d

If you like any of the searches that you come up with, you might want to consider automating it.

Anyway, I hope this mini wall of text was useful.
