How To: Library Raid (repost?) Easily done by one person, in an entire metro area, on a rainy day. edit: An example from EnturbulatedDC (bookstore raid):
re: How To: Library Raid nice, personally i enjoy raiding libraries since i live nowhere near an org.
re: How To: Library Raid you would print or order them using designs from the Resources forum or your own original design there are also designs on youfoundthecard.com, and you can order some relatively low-cost from vistaprint.com
re: How To: Library Raid there isnt a library in northern california that hasnt been raided by some of us. the self help and mystic crap is the best to target as this is where youll reach the best audience for our message. get all the "how to live better" books. the folks that read these are the type to be susceptible to scio. (inb4 - hey i read those books!!!!)
re: How To: Library Raid Ahh take all the business reply cards, print shit on them and send them to the cult from a streetcorner public mailbox. I never though of that part, lol. I would suggest wiping them of prints and using a printer or old type writer to fill them out for pure anonymity. Edit: Another idea. Was checking my local library. You can get online catalog search from many libraries these days. Searched up mine, they have not only books but DVD's as well. Get them from the shelf, take them to a study kiosk, bust out a laptop and rip them for leaking or parody. Keep in mind many DVD cases will hold more than one disk atop another. You can burn an anonymous DVD and stick it in under or atop the scientology one. This is a golden opportunity to get our anonymous DVD out in the hands of scilons or people thinking about becoming one!
re: How To: Library Raid Just putting a dvd inside a bigger, hard-cased book might be a good idea too. Especailly one with a good looking cover saying "Find out more about the Church here", or such
re: How To: Library Raid Essential video. Great work. Every anon should do this or at least adapt it to their environment. It's easy, low risk and effective.
Re: How To: Library Raid daaaaaaamn i wish i could do this...none of the libraries in my area have a website so i cant check them for books¬_¬
Re: How To: Library Raid I looked up online if my local city library had any books over co$ and it said they had plenty. So I went before work and spent like 20 minutes looking for any and I only found one book. It was about Dianetics so I placed a yftc and i have the rest that I am secretly planting in other books.
Re: How To: Library Raid Yup, carded my local library and the one at the university... and my local bookshops *lulz* Protip; look for the sociology (and general religion) books that might mention them as well and leaves them as 'bookmarks' in the appropriate chapters.
Re: How To: Library Raid Does anyone have the pdf of the "All About Radiation" flier.. I drop 100's of those at coffee houses across Chi back in the Summer.. those would be perfect to stick into books at libraries and such.. the quote by LRH is one of my fav's "the only specific cure for radiation burns and homosexuality is Dianetics/$cientology"... How could anyone who reads this THEN adhere's to it consider themselves intelligent?
Re: How To: Library Raid My librarys are huge here and after getting the scilon books I continue to magazines (they get more distance) then occult wiccan and self help books are next. The self help books are the best cause we will get those who think they need to fix themselves before they can get snagged by scio. They are the most vulnerable.
Re: How To: Library Raid I am so happy this is a sticky Thanks guys! Keep making it easier for others to find us.
Re: How To: Library Raid Did a card raid on my local library a little while ago. Not too many scientology books, but they were all pretty new. Still have to mail out most of the mail-in cards that I pulled. I'll be finding the other libraries near me later this week. Didn't think about the bookstore angle... I'll have to remember that. I always keep a handful of cards in my pocket now. For those too lazy (or stupid) to use a card catalog system: while it is easy to find Hubbard's other sci-fi (alphabetized by author in the Fiction section), the scientology stuff is usually found around decimal number 299.936.
Re: How To: Library Raid Richland County Public Library Catalog !!!!!!!!!!! raid time, and its in walking distance too
Re: How To: Library Raid You got off easy. This library system appears to have gone up the bridge Muse -- Multi-user Universal Searching Environment
Re: How To: Library Raid This works in bookstores too. Also, to the Anon asking about the card, here's the graphic used to print them: http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/8897/card0.png
Re: How To: Library Raid There's no Scientology books in my school Library, So I'll probably just end up putting the cards in random books lol
Re: How To: Library Raid Self-help books is a really good idea, though. qwertyuip1's right, the people going to those are the most vulnerable. I've been sticking cards in religion textbooks but I might start sticking them in the books at the second-hand shop where I work. It's got millions of self-help and diet books.
Re: How To: Library Raid can't I just dip my penis into an ink pad and just slap it across the pages? ... but that It'll look like an angry mushroom attacked the books and not us
Re: How To: Library Raid Libraries are good, but bookstores are better. Especially if you have a Half Price Books (a Barnes and Noble subsidiary)near you. They have tons of Hubbard shit and people actually buy it! Recently I found a complete hardback set of Mission to Earth in my local Half Price Books store and I put cards in every volume. My cards said: "Did you know that L. Ron Hubbard, the author of this book, was the founder of the Church of Scientology? Go to Stop Scientology Abuses | You Found The Card for more information about this dangerous cult." Actually, it pisses me off that Hubbard and Heinlein are on the same row (but not in the same league).
Re: How To: Library Raid This does work in bookstores. There may also be more than one library in your town; there's public libraries, university libraries, school libraries, bookstores, etc. I even saw LRH fiction (isn't it all fiction?) in Fred Meyers... Books on cults are always good to slip cards into, but check out the above options first. Remember: Many libraries list their catalogs online now. It's so easy to just search for hubbard....
Re: How To: Library Raid Care to list possible books and ISBN numbers? Like Dianetics, Scientology Handbook, Road to Freedom, etc
Re: How To: Library Raid I did a major UC today. I have a couple of other majors on my list. Will move on to my area's CSUs next.
Re: How To: Library Raid There is, it's called the OCLC WorldCat. Go to [WorldCat.org] Search for books, music, videos, articles and more in libraries near you, enter the title, and your ZIP. It'll search the catalogs of all the libraries closest to you without you having to search each and every library one-by-one. Have fun!
Re: How To: Library Raid Put anon info, cards, dvds, whatever, in ANY books(s). The more the public is educated, the better.
Re: How To: Library Raid I'm going to start doing this, awesome idea! On a semi related note, I scanned the barcode on the card out of curiousity to see if it would bring anything up. All I got was 1122334567895. I had an idea, maybe we could replace the barcode with with a QR code that people can scan with there phones and bring up the website.
