Just recently a small problem with Sci uploaded videos struck a thread. If you aren't familiar I'll give you the Rundown:

    https://whyweprotest.net/community/threads/oc-org-youtube-video-leaks-galore.101705/

This thread had a few videos graciously uploaded by scis. For some reason or other, the videos were taken Down by the user. Now as anyone familiar with my Username knows, My creator Chris Chan would often upload ridiculous videos to YouTube, and it would be up to the Trolls to download and archive Videos for later mirroring.

So in the spirit of helping Anons everywhere, here is a brief rundown on what I use to Mirror videos of Chris Chan:

First off, I'm using the most current version of Firefox, (11.0 as of the post). I have downloaded the FireFox Extension, "GreaseMonkey" which enables user made scripts to be applied to your web browser. There are plenty of good ones, but I'll highlight the one I want you to get.

Once you have installed Greasemonkey, you will want to download a Youtube Video Downloader. Take your pic, but the one I use is this one. Voila! You can now download Youtube videos for instant Archival. Yes even YOU! Congratulations!

Anyone else want to work through some steps for doing something similar through other methods?

    1) Copy Youtube video link
    2) Go to www.keepvid.com
    3) Paste link, press enter
    4) Click desired format from list that appears
    5) Fill up hard drive with videos, never watch them again

I use DownloadHelper (A Firefox add-on) to download the flv file of a youtube video. Then I use Free FLV Converter to convert the video to whatever file format I want.

Both are free to download, use, and AIDS-free.

I stopped using Firefox, since v. 11 sucks, won't remember passwords, memory hog, etc.

I scarfed up that ling and use it now in Safari... thx guise

kk? mine still saves passwords. it's the most stable in my opinion. In any case, did you have to change up the steps for safari users?

I didn't get what Tourniquet was talking about. Firefox is fine as frog hair for me anyways. I'd rather use it than IE anyday.

You're using version 11? I'm on Lion 10.7.3, and Firefox 11 just wasn't hacking it for me. Not saying I'm not a fan of the older versions... but why go back?

The steps were the same for me, on this platform. thxagain

oh okay. idk Firefox seemed to be fine. in fact they fixed some of the other compatibility issues they had earlier. I was pleased with 11, but to each their own.

So Safari Greasemonkey works then, there you go. Also seems like the KeepVid works fine to, provided your Internet Browser can access it.

Too much work, just use Jdownloader with auto link capture.

^ The advantage of this that you can get to choose the higher quality mp4 version if one is available.

Let the video play for a few seconds and DownloadHelper will offer a wider selection of formats, including mp4.

That's all fine and dandy if I wanted that specific format. However, I have a exponentially out of date version of Premiere Pro (1.0). It does not recognize MP4, AVI or anything other than WMV for video files...

...The other perk with Free FLV is that I can convert the file to a MP3. Because I know better, I'll just say: You can figure it out on your own.
