    how about some security tips?

i am running kubuntu 11.10 (liked ubuntu until unity). i had some issues with ff8 so i rolled back to ff7.0.1. extracted the tarball to my home directory and run it right from the extracted file without installing it in kde. lots of apps like ghostery wouldn't work on ff8 and i had some weird java issues.

i use no script, ghostery, https everywhere, cookie monster, better privacy and run a proxy from a list i found. i was using some of the proxy add ons on ff's add on page and most of them were crap. transparent proxies, slow as hell, disconnection.

are there any good proxy lists out there? any other good add ons? anyone know anything about kernel hardening? i've messed around with tor but it is slow and i don't really troll deepnet much or do anything else that i would need it for but some tips for other noobs would be cool.

i installed rkhunter and have run it a few times but i don't have it configured right cuz it doesn't save a log file for me. does anyone know how to check for and get rid of a keylogger on kubuntu?

any help would be appreciated by myself and the other noobs who are trying to lrn2intrnt. thanx.

ps. i did find some other security threads on this site but most were a couple years old.

  6. NoScript and Better Privacy are indeed must haves for any FF user, imo. And if you're not using Firefox, you should! I have not tried the others you listed, OP. I guess I should check them out.

    Good idea for a thread.

    WAT?
  9. Hi,
I followed the black hat style guide step by step till 16# where your supposed to make your linux connect to your firewall in virtual machine. When I type in the suggested command"ssh -N -L 9050:10.0.2.2:9050 root@10.0.3.1" it returns ": connect to host 10.0.3.1 port 22: network is unreachable what is this".
Im a total noob with hacking and I dont have a clue about Linux. Can somone please help me to figure this one out?

    thx a lot
